This seemingly popular "home of North American comfort food" chain, with a restaurant based in Sheffield City Centre, prides itself on great sharing platters and their lodge inspired surroundings. If you're looking for some decent stacked burgers, burritos, loaded fries etc, then this is a decent place to be. But did our visit live up to the hype? Read my full review here.
This Brewski branch is based at West One, Sheffield City Centre (the previous OHM yard), and has been changed slightly to reflect the décor and vibe of a North American lodge. Brewski make everything in house from their burger buns to their brownie pies - they definitely do provide great comfort food. We personally felt the atmosphere lacked a little with the slow drinks service at the bar and nothing much else adding to the "ultimate dining experience" that their website promises, but we enjoyed our meal nevertheless.
But I will say we both left wondering what all the hype was about?! We think it must be the Sharers (which was way too much food for just the two of us to order) because yes the food was decent, but there are quite a few similar or better offerings around nowadays that we weren't sure what stood out about this place.. maybe we left our visit too long? Anyway…
We enjoyed;
- THE KATSU MOIST MAKER BURGER £17.50; Brewski buttermilk fried chicken, burger cheese, lettuce, Katsu, sour cream and Chilli Heatwave Doritos - a GRAND, delicious burger that I could just about get my chops around. It was really tasty. Only criticism I have is that I wanted more Doritos! Also this came with skin on fries which were dry & meh, I wish I'd upgraded them to Salt & Pepper fries.
- BREWSKI BURRITO £16.00; Deep fried crispy beef, hot sauce, lettuce, Cajun onions, deep fried pork belly, red chillies, pico de gallo, 3 cheese mix and chipotle sour cream - THIS IS REYT GOOD. So very tasty, spicy, cheesy & really filling. Ben added the Salt & Pepper Fries £3.50 to this and I had proper food envy as this was such a good choice. These were tangy, spicy and superb
- Mocktails & Pints (I wish I'd seen the special Fruit Pastel cocktail on the specials menu before we ordered a drink at the bar).
The food was good comfort "pig out" food, the atmosphere ok but nothing to shout about. It's worth a visit but I wouldn't rush here. Maybe plan to go with at least 4 people to try their amazing looking sharer boards?
