Making Your Voice Heard with Paul Keskeys

Paul Keskeys

Paul Keskeys believes that he became what he calls an architecture nerd very early on in his life. He began with cliches – for example, he liked to play with Legos. He also enjoyed any type of building project, loved to draw, and liked making 2D drawings look like 3D drawings.

In school, Paul enjoyed a lot of subjects. He was interested in art and drawing as well as science and math, and even English. He wanted to go into a field that covered most or all of these things. He believes he'd decided on architecture by the time that he was 11 or 12.

Paul worked his way through the British educational system for architecture. He even worked in Canada for a year. During the financial crisis, he got laid off twice in 6 months. While studying to become a qualified architect he worked in 3 different London firms over a few years. Just two weeks after he got his license, he quit his firm to travel around the world for a year.

In today's episode, Paul talks about his work, how he started The Angry Architect on Facebook, and how he ended up with Architizer. You'll also hear Paul talk about how the different skills you learn as an architect can help you in many different ways, and what he thinks of the Young Architect Conference.
