The King of Fighters XV Athena trailer rounds out Team Super Heroine Posted: 30 Jul 2021 04:00 PM PDT Last night SNK dropped another character trailer for the next entry in the upcoming flagship fighting title, The King of Fighters XV. The newest character on the roster is Athena Asamiya. This high school pop idol comes with psychic powers which she mixes with traditional Chinese Kung Fu. Athena has been a mainstay in the series for quite some time. Check out the full KoF XV Athena trailer below. Athena’s lore actually goes way back into the early days of SNK. In 1986, SNK released a platform arcade game called Athena. The titular Athena is a princess who winds up in a world ruled with an iron fist by a cruel emperor. A year later, Psycho Soldier was released as a spiritual successor to Athena. This game is where the Athena associated with The King of Fighters first appeared. She also appeared alongside Kensou, another KoF legacy character. This version of Athena is a descendant of the Athena from that first game. Get ready to hear “Psycho Ball” over and ove... |
The Ascent has some confusing issues with DLSS on Game Pass Posted: 30 Jul 2021 03:30 PM PDT The Ascent launched this week, offering players another cyberpunk-themed adventure to get lost in. We reviewed it and found the game to be a blast, though it did have a few small technical issues, or so we thought. It appears that the Game Pass Microsoft Store version of The Ascent does not have DLSS, whereas those who own the game on Steam get access to the framerate-boosting feature. This issue become apparent when our EIC Cam decided to check the game out after my insistence that everyone with Game Pass give it a go. While the Steam review version ran alright on the RTX 3060 in 4K, the framerates were significantly more consistent with DLSS enabled. Those with graphics cards that support the feature more than likely use it whenever it’s available in a game. As such, Cam discovered in very little time that the Game Pass version of The Ascent had DLSS entirely greyed out for some reason. To make matters even stranger, the Steam version has an option for DLSS Ultra Qual... |
Next generation flagship graphics cards may have high power consumption Posted: 30 Jul 2021 02:15 PM PDT While the current generation trudges along with availability issues, industry leakers are already speculating about what could come next. The current rumors suggest both AMD and Nvidia could go all out to wrestle the performance crown from one another. Those big gains may sound exciting, but there is also talk of the flagship model graphics cards featuring ridiculous amounts of power consumption. VideoCardz did a recent rumor roundup based upon chatter from a variety of common industry leakers. The current running assumption is that the next gen flagship models from both Nvidia and AMD could exceed 400 watts of power in order to double current generation performance. One of the mentioned sources, 3DCenter, concluded that 420-450 watts was possible for AMD’s Navi31. That’s both exciting and concerning at the same time, yet also definitely something to be skeptical about for obvious practicality reasons. Could graphics cards really use that much power? Under normal ... |
Intel’s DG2 discrete GPUs reportedly launching at CES 2022 Posted: 30 Jul 2021 02:00 PM PDT We have finally received some news about Intel’s upcoming lineup of discrete graphics cards, albeit, in the form of rumors. While products of competitors have leaked left and right, Intel has been extremely silent about the DG2 discrete GPUs. First spotted by VideoCardz, the Hardware Academy’s Weibo account stated that Intel will launch its discrete Xe-HPG DG2 GPUs at the CES 2022 event next January. The post was translated from Chinese and states that a reliable source revealed Intel’s plan for the release of the DG2 GPUs. This would mark the launch of Intel’s first set of discrete graphics cards based on the Xe-HPG architecture. Intel announced during last month’s keynote presentation that DG2 has begun sampling and is in the hands of the AIB partners . Therefore, a full launch in approximately five months is not outside the realm of possibility. This rumor also happens to coincide with yesterday’s report from an unrelated source that Int... |
