| August 2021 PC game releases — Naraka: Bladepoint, New World, Humankind, King’s Bounty 2, and more Posted: 31 Jul 2021 04:00 PM PDT  Summer is drawing to a close and we’re about to see more content drops. The PC game releases in August 2021 include MMORPG New World, 4X strategy game Humankind, RPG King’s Bounty 2, battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint, and the long-awaited Psychonauts 2. Likewise, we’ll see Road 96, Book of Travels, Twelve Minutes, Madden NFL 22, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Siege of Paris, and more. | Company of Heroes 3 pre-alpha preview – Mountain Cuisine Posted: 31 Jul 2021 02:00 PM PDT  Company of Heroes has come a long way. The original entry in the series improved on the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War formula in all ways but one: some questionable DLC. Company of Heroes 2 promised the untold story of the Eastern Front, and then regurgitated all of the Nazis myths instead. The sequel also came with plenty of DLC that culminated in Ardennes Assault (liked by all but me). The ride was… bumpy. So, how will Company of Heroes 3 fare? We preview the pre-alpha. This game is set in the Mediterranean Theater, which is a quick way of saying “North Africa and Italy.” But the pre-alpha only includes part of the dynamic Allied campaign that focuses on the push from Naples to Monte Cassino. Treading the Italian soil While the Battle for Monte Cassino and the attacks on the Winter Line in general involved 240,000 Allied soldiers, this is Company of Heroes 3 and not Division of Heroes. | Forza Motorsport 7 support is coming to an end, delisting imminent Posted: 31 Jul 2021 01:45 PM PDT  Microsoft’s Turn 10 Studios has made the somber announcement that support for Forza Motorsport 7 is wrapping up. In only a matter of weeks, the racing sim will be delisted from all digital storefronts — after four years on the market. The delisting will include a takedown of both the full game and all of the additional content that has been released for it over the years. This means that no new buyers will be able to jump in and access the title. However, those who already own the game or buy it before it is delisted will have full access to all of its content. Those who still enjoy the multiplayer aspect of Forza Motorsport 7 will also be unaffected by this change, as all of its online services will remain active. Even Xbox Game Pass players are not going to be left in the dust. | New engine and build mode improvements detailed for Farming Simulator 22 Posted: 31 Jul 2021 01:30 PM PDT  Giants Software continues to reveal new features coming in Farming Simulator 22. Just recently, the studio showed off the new improvements to both the sim’s game engine and also the build system that will allow players to place custom objects on their map. The version of the Giants Engine for Farming Simulator 22 will come with the DirectX 12 API. This will allow for improvements to features like texture streaming, and make the game more efficient at using GPU cores for better texture loading. Better anti-aliasing will also be present thanks to the use of Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) techniques over older, less efficient methods. Parallax occlusion will provide a higher visual fidelity to scenery objects like grass and wall textures, thus giving these objects more defined 3D looks without performance costs. | Microsoft Flight Simulator faces some controversy after latest hotfix Posted: 31 Jul 2021 01:00 PM PDT  Microsoft Flight Simulator players on PC recently benefited from the massive Sim Update V. This update addressed a number of performance issues and also added in some new graphical elements and quality of life improvements. However, issues have come up for some players. Following the reports, Asobo has released a brand new hotfix Microsoft Flight Simulator. Hotfix version 1.18.14.0 addresses a number of issues found in the sim since Sim Update V. This includes crash-to-desktop errors, memory leaks, and crashes related to using the offline AI traffic feature. Players with multiple peripherals should also no longer have the sim freeze when connecting and disconnecting peripherals. In-game elements have also been fixed, including certain GPS devices, and issues found with the flight planner. Other improvements have been made to the weather system, certain aircraft systems, and other gameplay operations. The release notes include the full rundown of all the nitty-gritty details. ... |
