Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands publisher confirms early 2022 release window

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands publisher confirms early 2022 release window

August 3, 2021 The Tiny Tina's Wonderlands release date has been narrowed down to sometime in the first quarter of 2022.

Developer Gearbox finally unveiled Borderlands spin-off, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, ahead of E3 at Kickoff Live, and we were told to expect an "early 2022" launch for the game. Now, publisher Take-Two has narrowed down the Tiny Tina's Wonderlands release date by a bit as part of the company's latest financial results.

Take-Two has confirmed that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is due to launch during the company's 2022 fiscal year, which ends in March. In other words, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will launch sometime between January 1 and March 31, 2022.

As you've probably seen Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a full, standalone follow-up to the Borderlands 2 DLC, Assault on Dragon Keep. The D&D-inspired adventure will let you customise your character (maybe you should spin up a D&D character creator for inspiration), build a multiclass suite of abilities, and cast spells at enemies alongside your usual loadout of lootable guns.

Fortnite 17.30 release time confirmed, and it puts a “UFO in your hands”

Fortnite's in line for some major events over the next stretch, including both an Ariana Grande concert and an event for The Suicide Squad. Now Epic has confirmed that 17.30 is coming very soon, and is teasing that you'll get a "UFO in your hands" - a hint that's already pretty clear thanks to leakers and dataminers.

Fortnite services will be disabled ahead of the 17.30 update on August 2 at 10:30pm PDT, or August 3 at 1:30am EDT / 6:30am BST. Barring any technical issues, the game should be back and 17.30 content should be playable on August 2 at 11pm PDT, or August 3 at 2am EDT / 7am BST.

Ahead of that announcement, Epic tweeted: "A 'UFO in your hands'? The latest Alien gear has IO Guards scrambling to nail down every wall, car, rock, and even shrub." That sure sounds like the Grab-Itron item that dataminers expected to launch in 17.21, which will let you grab and throw items in the environment, just like with the UFO vehicle's beam.

Despite hour-long queue times, Splitgate is exploding on Steam

Despite hour-long queue times, Splitgate is exploding on Steam

Splitgate got so popular over the past month that the devs have had to delay its 1.0 release in order to increase server capacity, but the game's explosion hasn't slowed down since then. Even with upgraded capacity, the servers are struggling to keep up with a rapidly-increasing player base, and despite queue times frequently surpassing an hour in length, players keep lining up.

While Splitgate has been available on Steam in Early Access since 2019, the current surge began on July 28, as SteamDB shows. The game reached a peak of 28,342 concurrent players on PC as of July 30, the same day the developers reported that the overall, cross-platform player number crossed 100,000 concurrents. On August 1, Splitgate reached a new record of 53,138 players on Steam alone.

As a result of all these players, both fans and the devs have been reporting queue times in excess of 90 minutes. The subreddit is currently filled with jokes about the current state of the wait, but it looks to be mostly in good fun - players are largely happy just to be able to get into the game at all.

The Ascent review – if looks could kill

The Ascent review – if looks could kill

Every last area in The Ascent is an astonishingly detailed diorama of Blade Runner-inspired dystopia. From the festering depths of the Deepstink - the industrial heart of the Ascent Group's arcology - all the way up to the shimmering corporate luxury of the Pinnacle, every rusty gangway, rain-soaked noodle bar, granite boardroom, and neon-lit vista looks like a piece of concept art brought to life. Hover cars stream across the yawning chasm at the centre of the superstructure. Alien throngs shuffle through market hubs, every storefront inviting the crowd to stop and stare with neon displays, holograms, and nosebleed techno. This is a truly resplendent slice of hyper-urban despair.

Tarnishing this visual feast is the unavoidable realisation that this is probably one of the most derivative cyberpunk game worlds around, too. Entire buildings are plucked straight from Blade Runner, pedestrians wander the streets under umbrellas with neon poles, and gigantic nude holograms dance in the distance. The vocabulary is Gibson through and through, the alien species look like they've got lost on the way back from the Mos Eisley cantina, and despite the abundance of advanced tech everyone seems content with the good ol' cathode-ray tube in their TVs. Sure, this world is brought to life with stunning attention to detail, but you've been here before.

You arrive in this disorganised crush as an indentured labourer, locked into a contract until death with the only hope of escape being to work your way up through the corporate world as a hired gun. To do that, you'll pick up missions from gang leaders and mercenaries, sending you all over the superstructure to fetch things and kill people.

Rainbow Six Siege’s Extraction event begins tomorrow

Rainbow Six Siege’s Extraction event begins tomorrow

Last week we reported on a likely new limited-time event coming to Rainbow Six Siege called 'Containment' - which looked like it was going to tie-in with the upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction. Ubisoft has now confirmed that the Siege Containment event is real, it begins August 3, and it is indeed inspired by the next Rainbow Six game.

The Rainbow Six Extraction release date has been pushed back several times, but you're now getting a chance to get a taste of the new title in the new Nest Destruction game mode - which launches tomorrow and runs all the way up to August 24. Even better, Siege will get a free weekend from August 13-15, so everyone can give it a go.

The Containment event takes place entirely in a reworked version of the Consulate map that has been overrun by Rainbow Six Extraction's Chimera Parasite. The attacking team is tasked with destroying the nest inside Consulate, and the player-controlled infected defenders have to stop them.

Apex Legends Season 10 release time – countdown to ‘hold on’

Apex Legends Season 10 release time – countdown to ‘hold on’

The new Apex Legends season is nearly here, so the developers have provided the usual round of pre-release info. The Apex Legends Season 10 release date officially lands on August 3, and the patch notes are pretty light this time around - aside from Seer, the World's Edge map update, and ranked Arenas - but there's one notable surprise you should, er, 'hold on' for.

Based on previous season release times, Apex Legends: Emergence will launch at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST on August 3. Once the patch goes live, you will be able to respond to enemy pings with a friendly 'hold on' - much nicer than screaming obscenities at your teammates when someone starts pushing too aggressively.

There are some modest hero changes, including some moderate buffs to Caustic which restore some of the damage potential of his gas. Fuse gets some buffs too, as his ultimate will now reveal enemies stuck inside the ring of fire, and his tactical has now been doubled in duration for a bit more utility.

The Wayward Realms is an Elder Scrolls-like from the creators of Elder Scrolls

The Wayward Realms is an Elder Scrolls-like from the creators of Elder Scrolls

We're still a long way from the release of The Elder Scrolls VI, but two of the lead developers behind The Elder Scrolls series have unveiled a new open-world RPG that could scratch that itch nicely - The Wayward Realms, which brings back the massive procedural worlds of Arena and Daggerfall.

It's been a long time since we've heard anything from OnceLost Games, which announced a "spiritual successor" to The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall way back in 2019. The studio's led by several key developers behind the Elder Scrolls series - Julian LeFay, Ted Peterson, and Vijay Lakshman.

All of them worked on programming and design for many of Bethesda's earliest games, including several Elder Scrolls titles and The Terminator: Future Shock. Julian LeFay served as project leader on Daggerfall, and Vijay Lakshman was Arena's lead designer and producer. The Wayward Realms certainly sounds closer to Daggerfall than Skyrim, boasting "one hundred realistically-scaled islands" that are rendered with "dynamic, procedural generation" - similar to the way the early Elder Scrolls games handled their huge worlds.

Apex Legends Seer abilities and character guide

Want to know more about Seer's abilities in Apex Legends? Obi 'Seer' Edolasim is the latest character to join the roster in Apex Legends Season 10. Seer was born under a bad omen, branding him as an outcast within the community. Though his parents loved him for his creative soul, Seer didn't have an outlet for his expressiveness until he discovered Arena mode.

Seer was a natural when it came to winning games in the Arena, casually dispatching his opponents with his micro-drones. Over time, he established a fan base of forgotten, downtrodden, and outcast people that saw themselves in him. As Seer makes his way to the Apex Games for the first time, there isn't a single spectator that doesn't know exactly who he is.

There's no doubt that Seer is going to have a large impact on the Apex Legends tier list as his abilities look extremely powerful. We already know how strong characters like Bloodhound and Crypto can be - Seer combines the best abilities from these characters to create something entirely different.

Tribes of Midgard has reached over 250k players

Tribes of Midgard has reached over 250k players

Tribes of Midgard is a Gearbox-published action co-op survival RPG that came out last week, July 27 to be exact, to general acclaim - and it's apparently already brought in over 250,000 players across PC and consoles.

The game - inspired by the likes of Don't Starve Together and some of the other great survival games on PC - launched on July 27 for PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam, and has done pretty well on Steam since then. According to SteamDB, Tribes of Midgard's concurrent player counts have been consistently going up since release - with a new peak reached just yesterday evening with 30,930 concurrent players.

It was the number four bestselling game on Steam last week, just under cyberpunk RPG The Ascent and two versions of Amazon's MMO New World - which is currently wrapping up its closed beta before the release at the end of the month, so Tribes of Midgard actually has a chance to go up the charts this week if this momentum continues.

Icarus is a brutal survival game designed to “feel like Skyrim”

Icarus is a brutal survival game designed to “feel like Skyrim”

I've been craving a new multiplayer survival game to help me get through lockdown. I don't like to think how many hours I've spent preparing meals, gathering resources, and grinding through daily life while trying to stay safe - let alone all the survival games I played. I've clocked 120 hours in Valheim, torn through the spider-infested mines of Deep Rock Galactic, and cursed at the gruelling, oppressive challenge of Don't Starve Together. All great, sometimes harrowing experiences, and now Icarus - the latest survival game from DayZ creator Dean Hall - is just around the corner.

Described as a session-based PvE survival game, Icarus's premise is that humanity has failed to terraform the titular planet, rendering it uninhabitable by creating a climate in which weather changes are sudden and hostile. Prospectors must now hang in orbit, making trips down to the planet for resources and supplies.

This is where the 'session' part of Icarus comes in. Every time your crew drops down to Icarus you're on the clock, and if you don't make it back to the ship then your character is lost forever, which means you lose all the stuff from your session. It sounds stressful, especially coming from Valheim, in which I can happily spend well over a week constructing a grand hall and making lox meat pie (don't judge me). But sessions in Icarus can last weeks, days, or hours, so it's not necessarily a breakneck sprint as soon as your feet touch terra firma.

The Dead Space remake is being lead by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s director

The Dead Space remake is being lead by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s director

The Dead Space remake may still be a long way off, but it's being helmed by the game director of one of the best third-person action-adventure games from the last year - Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Director and designer Eric Baptizat has worked on the Assassin's Creed series on the likes of Black Flag, Unity, and Origins before becoming game director on last year's Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Baptizat had worked at Ubisoft for 15 years, with credits on the likes of For Honor and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, before leaving the publisher earlier this year to join EA Motive.

While at the time Baptizat was only theorised as heading up the Dead Space remake team, they've finally made it official by changing their LinkedIn profile to 'game director on Dead Space at Motive Studio' - as spotted by VGC, which also has a neat run-down of all the developers known to be working on Dead Space, including a lot of ex-Ubisoft employees, so Baptizat is in familiar company.

Halo Infinite’s beta featured Arena Slayer, briefly

August 02, 2021 This story has been edited to clarify that Arena Slayer is no longer playable.

The first Halo Infinite beta kicked off last week and is due to wrap up today, August 2. While the majority of the test flight has focused on besting the upcoming PC game's bots, some players got the chance to go against other testers in Arena Slayer for a brief spell of time.

Word got out that the mode was available to try out from the game's official Twitter account at the end of the weekend, though it only stuck around for a few hours, so there's a good chance you might have missed it entirely depending on your time zone. The way it worked was similar to bot slayer, with two teams of four going against each other to rack up the kills to win the game.

Community director Brian Jarrard told players to expect "some known issues that are likely to impact your experience". For example, there was a chance you might start a game without a full team, though that typically balanced itself out as the contest rumbled on.

Destiny 2 fan gets Halo announcer to read Crucible lines on Cameo

Bungie's games have been blessed with some terrific announcers when it comes to PvP action. Anyone who has played Halo Infinite's multiplayer beta over the weekend will have been reacquainted with the gravely tones of the upcoming PC game's commentator, whereas Destiny 2's Lord Shaxx has long been a favourite for fans of the space game. Now, though, we've got a crossover of sorts thanks to one Destiny 2 fan.

Reddit user Baaguuette realised that Halo veteran Jeff Steitzer was on an app called Cameo, meaning they could get a personalised short video for a price. Naturally, the Reddit user requested Steitzer read some of Lord Shaxx and Saladin's lines from Destiny 2's Crucible and Iron Banner. The results are as excellent as you'd expect.

Steitzer is all too happy to go for it, wheeling out such lines as "seventh column", "tell them to line up faster", and "I could feel that in my bones". One of my personal favourites, though, is Steitzer's delivery of "delightful" - it is, as one could say, delightful.

Fortnite’s The Suicide Squad event kicks off tomorrow

August 2, 2021: Idris Elba's Bloodsport is coming to Fortnite tomorrow, August 3.

The Suicide Squad is getting a crossover with Fortnite, thanks to a new video featuring Idris Elba telling us about a new Bloodsport skin and items coming tomorrow, August 3. The continued lesson is that we should never be surprised by a Fortnite crossover. And there are hints that there's more to the collaboration than a single skin, too.

The minute-long video (hey, I assume Idris Elba is a busy guy) shows off just a few seconds of Bloodsport competing in the battle royale game. As Idris adds, Fortnite fans should "prepare to get some dubs." While I am currently crawling inside my own skin and dying as a result of presenting that quote, I gotta admit the skin looks pretty cool.

The crossover was teased last week by the movie's director James Gunn himself, and now we have a rough idea of what it includes. Aside from the Bloodsport outfit, there seems to be a number of cool weapon skins and a particularly fun Starro back bling.

Fortnite is getting an Ariana Grande concert this week

Ariana Grande is hosting a concert within Fortnite - and it starts this week on Friday, August 6. The Fortnite Rift Tour is headlined by the singer and will span five showtimes across August 6-8 - and will bring with it a new outfit and a dancing pig backpack to the item shop.

While Ariana Grande and her concerts don't appear until Friday, the Rift Tour itself has technically already started - as the first wave of Rift Tour Quests have kicked off throughout Fortnite. These will run until the end of the concert on August 8 and can be found by clicking on the new in-game Rift Tour tab. Rewards for completing these include a new loading screen, emoticon, and spray.

Aside from watching Ariana Grande perform, there are a number of rewards to be unlocked or bought. The aforementioned Ariana Grande outfit and rather distracting Piggy Smallz back bling arrive in the Item Shop on August 4, and everyone who attends the tour will get a free Cuddly Cloudcruiser umbrella. Fortnite Crew subscribers logged in between August 5-9 will receive a Rainbow Cloudcruiser umbrella and a new banner and loading screen.

Minecraft Iron Golem farm guide

Looking to set up your very first Minecraft Iron Golem farm? A Minecraft Iron Golem is for life, not just for Halloween, that's how the saying goes, right? Iron Golems are one of the most fascinating parts of Minecraft, especially because you can create them yourself, and as we all know, the ability to create life basically makes you a god, and that kind of power is just plain fun. Sure, there's a lot of responsibility that goes with that, but the important thing is that you can create life out of a few blocks of metal and a root vegetable.

The good news is that you shouldn't let this rest on your conscience too much. Minecraft Iron Golems are beastly creatures who are incredibly strong, surprisingly kind, and even good for the environment. There's a lot to learn about these peculiar creatures, so we thought we'd put together a little guide for you to read.

Iron Golems are increasingly helpful when creating farms, so getting to know them and how to set up your fist Iron Golem farm is important stuff.

Genshin Impact Baal boss guide

Want to know how to defeat Baal in Genshin Impact? Genshin Impact Chapter II focuses on Inazuma and its ruler, Baal, the Electro Archon. Kazuha's story prologue revealed Baal and Kujou Sara have declared a Vision Hunt on Inazuma, tracking down anyone who gains the powers of the Gods. The Raiden Shogun is the main villain in Genshin Impact 2.0, alongside her trusty companion, Sara.

If you thought this fight was going to be a walk in the park with your high level characters, think again. There's a reason why people with Visions are so scared to confront her - Baal has the power to crush your team in an instant. This is the first time the Traveler has been in serious danger after confronting one of the villains in Genshin Impact; if Thoma wasn't around to interrupt the fight, the Traveler would've been killed.

To start a fight against Baal, you need to reach the second act in Chapter II. The fight begins when the Traveler reaches the ceremony, stopping Thoma from becoming another victim of the Vision Hunt.

The best Genshin Impact builds for each character

The best Genshin Impact builds for each character

Looking for the best Genshin Impact builds? Genshin Impact characters are obtainable through banners, which give you a chance to pull various characters and weapons through Wishes. Some characters are more powerful than others - as our Genshin Impact tier list will attest - but no matter who you pull, we're here to help you get the best performance out of them.

When putting together a Genshin Impact team, you'll need to take into account Genshin Impact elemental reactions - each character specialises in the use of one particular element, apart from the Traveler, who is able to wield both Anemo and Geo. Swapping your teammates out and using different elements in sequence produces powerful effects, so we recommend using a varied lineup.

Some characters are best suited to damage, while others perform better in a support role - depending on the build you choose, you can capitalise on different aspects of their toolkit to help them serve your team better. In order to buff your characters, you need to equip them with Genshin Impact artifacts and Genshin Impact weapons. You can also upgrade your character's Constellations, but this requires obtaining a duplicate of that character from a Wish. Here are the best Genshin Impact builds for each character:

The best football games on PC in 2021

The best football games on PC in 2021

What are the best football games on PC in 2021? It can often feel like there are only two or three football games you can dive into (studs raised and all) on PC. FM is the king of football management games. It can't hold a candle to FIFA's player-controlled realism and multiplayer modes but, where sports simulation games are concerned, it's the top dog. Sports Interactive's long-running franchise will always be our go-to football PC title, but there are a heap of soccer games available on PC, all boasting their own style, gameplay mechanics, and surrealness that deserve your time and attention.

Whether they're an under-the-radar studio game, an indie title, or a mash-up on different sports, there's a football game for every fan… unless you're a Juventus superfan and considering picking up a copy of FIFA 20.

In order to shine a light on these underappreciated classics we've compiled our favourites all in this handy list. So throw on your favourite retro football shirt and drawstring bag these FM alternatives for yourself. For the record, our favourite retro kit is the PCGN-brand Dutch national team jersey from 1976 - all comparisons to Johan Cruyff's footballing career are welcome.

The best Genshin Impact Ayaka build

Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:44 AM PDT

The best Genshin Impact Ayaka build

Looking for the best Genshin Impact Ayaka build? Kamisato Ayaka is now available as of the Genshin Impact 2.0 update, and if you're really lucky, you can get her via her banner. Ayaka was initially playable in the game's closed beta back in July 2019. In just short of the game's one year anniversary, Ayaka is finally a playable character.

Ayaka hails from the Inazuma region, along with Kazuha, Yoimiya, and Sayu. She is the daughter of the Yashiro Commission's Kamisato Clan, one of the most powerful families in Inazuma. A lot of Ayaka's abilities are named after her clan - these abilities aren't exclusively physical attacks, suggesting the Kamisato bloodline is tied to Cryo elemental magic.

Judging by some of the other five star Cryo characters like Ganyu and Eula, Ayaka has the potential to earn a spot in the coveted top tier section of our Genshin Impact tier list. We'll see how she does on the tier list now that Genshin Impact 2.0 is here, but we've already been hard at work theorycrafting  prior to the launch to create a build for Ayaka that should deal plenty of damage.

League of Legends patch 11.16 notes – Sona update, Karma changes, Coven skins

League of Legends patch 11.16 notes – Sona update, Karma changes, Coven skins

The League of Legends patch cycle continues on. Now that League of Legends patch 11.15 has rolled onto live servers, its follow-up has begun to debut on the MOBA game's testing grounds for what looks like an extended period of time this round - a three-week dev cycle, rather than the usual fortnight-long turnover we're used to. So, with a bunch of new content ahead, let's take a look at what's coming for League of Legends patch 11.16, shall we?

While the previous two updates were all about the Sentinels, the Ruined King, Viego, and - of course - new champion Akshan, this time it's all about a new batch of Coven skins. Themed around the alternate universe all about some dark deities' attempts to return to the world, "challenged only by the light of the eclipse", the new Coven skins are coming up for lucky champions Ahri, Ashe, Cassiopeia, Evelynn, Malphite, Warwick, and LeBlanc, who gets a Prestige Edition version.

As is usually the case when a patch is fresh to the PBE, there aren't any balance changes to get a look at just yet, but we'll very likely see some arrive in the coming days, so do keep checking back on these notes.

Genshin Impact codes August 2021 – how to redeem free primogems

Looking for Genshin Impact codes? MiHoYo's charming open-world game is notoriously addictive, and if you're anything like us, you're constantly on the lookout for more Genshin Impact primogems and other goodies.

Gathering currency in Genshin Impact can be quite the grind - while you can earn mora and primogems by completing quests such as daily commissions, an injection of extra funds will always be gratefully received. Fortunately, the developers occasionally send out free gifts in the form of codes that can be redeemed online.

These Genshin Impact codes are released periodically. They frequently appear in MiHoYo's special programs that reveal information about future updates coming to the game, but are also released to celebrate milestones or to coincide with promotional events. Most codes also only work for a limited time - so it's a good idea to redeem them as soon as possible in case you miss out. Codes can only be redeemed once per account. Here are all the current Genshin Impact codes for August 2021, and how to redeem them.

The best Genshin Impact weapons you can get without using Wishes

If you are going to wait for five-star weapon results from your Wishes you might have to wait a long time, or you will have to invest a lot of money in Genshin Impact. There's always the weapon pity system introduced in 2.0, but for many players, it is more feasible to find good weapons by playing. Luckily, Genshin Impact offers enough quality three and four-star weapons that you can find in the open world or craft yourself, so there's no need to invest in Wishes to complete your best Genshin Impact builds.

Some of the freely available four-star weapons are better than others, but since their number is limited, all are worth getting. Although four-star weapons have better base stats than three-star weapons, there are also many three-star ones that are worth searching for as they may boast superior damage or critical hit modifiers.

We've included some of the best, but keep in mind that the value of a weapon is greatly dependent on the situation, the Genshin Impact characters you want to use it for and plenty of other factors like the monsters you're going after and what Genshin Impact artifacts you have.
