| Battlefield V is suddenly one of Steam’s top ten games Posted: 01 Sep 2021 02:25 PM PDT Battlefield V had a free weekend, and suddenly became one of the biggest games on Steam. Yes, I know - it's no real shock that people like free stuff. But as with the Battlefield 1 promotion before it, people are continuing to play even after the free promotion is over. Battlefield V has even squeezed into Steam's top ten most played games. The Steam version of Battlefield V reached a peak of 69,342 concurrent players today, as SteamDB shows. As of this writing, that makes it the tenth-biggest game on Steam today, ahead of favorites like Rainbow Six Siege. BFV's peak during the free weekend was 76,456, so there's barely been any drop-off since the promotion ended. The game is currently enjoying a 90% discount through September 8, bringing the price down to $4.99 / £5.49 / €5.99. Clearly, that's been incentive enough to keep people playing past the free period. We saw a similar effect with Battlefield 1 earlier this year, but the Battlefield V numbers have proven even more impressive. RELATED LINKS: Battlefield 5 weapons, WW2 games, Tank games |
| Get up to 33% off the SteelSeries Rival 650 wireless gaming mouse Posted: 01 Sep 2021 02:01 PM PDT Peripherals often take a back seat in the budget to make room for the graphics card, gaming CPU, and other core components, but equipping yourself with the right gaming mouse can sometimes be the difference between digital life and death. It doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg for a good one, though, as the SteelSeries Rival 650 wireless gaming mouse currently sports a sizable discount. Waving goodbye to the triple figure asking price, you can get the former flagship rodent 25% cheaper on Amazon in the US, bringing the price to a much more manageable $89.50. Over the water, it'll set UK shoppers back £79.99, with its current 33% reduction saving you £40 in the process. Back when the wired SteelSeries Rival 600 came out in 2018, we said it was a wireless link away from being the best gaming mouse: which is exactly what the Rival 650 is. It features the same seven-button layout, a TrueMove 3 optical sensor with 1:1 tracking and 12,000DPI, and a secondary sensor dedicated to handling the adjustable 0.5mm liftoff from your mouse pad. | Paradox CEO steps down over “differing views” about company strategy Posted: 01 Sep 2021 12:46 PM PDT The CEO of grand strategy game developer and publisher Paradox Interactive has stepped down from her position, effective immediately. Ebba Ljungerud had worked in the position since August 2018, and has left the post over "differing views on the company's strategy going forwad," according to a press release from the company. "Ebba has done a fantastic job as CEO of Paradox Interactive," Paradox board chairman Håkan Sjunnesson says in the release. "During her leadership the organisation, player base and our game projects have been strengthened and grown which give the company a strong base for future growth. We regret that she has decided to resign but wish her all the best in future endeavours." During Ljungerud's tenure as CEO, Paradox opened a new studio in Barcelona, Paradox Tinto, and most lately has undergone a major reorganisation of its development studios after troubled launches for Imperator: Rome and multiple expansions for Europa Universalis IV. However, the studio also launched the universally acclaimed Crusader Kings III last year, and recently announced the development of the long-requested Victoria III. | Phoenix Point’s Corrupted Horizons DLC adds the bioengineered Acheron creature Posted: 01 Sep 2021 02:28 PM PDT Phoenix Point's next DLC, Corrupted Horizons, is due out in October, and it's adding some game-changing new units to the XCOM-style strategy game. We've gotten a first look at one of them, the Acheron, and it's another mean-looking Pandoran threat that's going to force you to reconsider your tactics on the battlefield. Acherons are large, four-legged creatures that have been developed by one of Phoenix Point's human factions - although exactly which one is responsible for the monstrosity is unclear. Whatever its provenance, the Acheron is a heavy-duty support unit that can not only call in Pandoran reinforcements, it can also reanimate dead Pandoran units you've already dealt with. The Acheron's main role, however, ties into a new game mechanic Corrupted Horizons will be introducing to Phoenix Point. The creatures can spread corruption, a miasma that saps soldiers of their will to continue the fight. You'll have to capture and research an Acheron as part of the fourth DLC's story arc in order to uncover the means to fight back against corruption - but even when you do, it'll still present a threat during battle. | Midnight Suns isn’t just Marvel XCOM – it’s Marvel Mass Effect and Into the Breach, too Posted: 01 Sep 2021 12:06 PM PDT Today, we got a much more substantial look at Marvel: Midnight Suns, the long-rumoured superhero strategy game from the XCOM and Civilization devs at Firaxis. In some ways, it is the Marvel XCOM that we expected, but there's more to it than that - you can trace inspirations to deckbuilding games, Mass Effect, and even Into the Breach. Combat is turn-based, and your characters will have their abilities dealt out like a hand of cards, giving you a selection of combat options to choose from at any time. Some abilities just deal damage, while others provide buffs or detrimental effects to enemies. Still others will knock enemies around in the environment, allowing you to set up chain reactions by, say, tossing a bad guy into an explosive barrel, reminiscent of the excellent indie strategy game, Into the Breach. You play as the Hunter, an original character that you can customise how you like, and you'll enter battle with a team of familiar Marvel heroes drawn from teams like the Avengers, X-Men, and Runaways. Between missions, a place simply called 'the abbey' will serve as the Normandy does in Mass Effect, letting you build (platonic) relationships with your fellow heroes. |
| Philips Hue partners with Spotify to make RGB lighting dance better to music Posted: 01 Sep 2021 11:30 AM PDT RGB LEDs and lighting kits can be a wonderful way to spruce up your gaming PC setup with personalised colours and animations, but much like many of us in the office, they've never been good at dancing to music. Fortunately, Philips Hue has accompanied its new range of smart lights and lamps with the announcement that it's teamed up with Spotify so your bulbs better change colours to the beat. Like most other smart LEDs, music integration usually features harsh flashes that flicker with the help of third-party apps - in Philip's case, that's Huegasm. Bringing Spotify into the loop directly should mean more organic transitions that suit the genre of music you're listening to much better, as colours swap, change brightness, and animate differently on a per song basis. The magic happens in the Philips Hue app, which uses the metadata of each song to craft a personalised script. You can then manually alter things to your liking if you want to increase or decrease the brightness, or even change the colour palette to something more pleasing. | Teamgroup teases an AIO water cooler for your NVMe SSD Posted: 01 Sep 2021 10:42 AM PDT Teamgroup's annual launch event is fast approaching and should herald all the usual suspects, from new large capacity storage to DDR5 RAM modules that are ready for Intel's Alder Lake CPUs. Wccftech spotted one product that stands out from the crowd, however, and that's an all-in-one water cooled SSD. Teasing the Cardea Liquid II SSD as a silhouette, it looks to take all the cues you'd expect from the best AIO coolers, from the 120mm radiator to its dual tubes that feed into a water block. There's even the outline of an RGB header dangling next to the pump. It's not clear exactly how the closed-loop fits into your gaming PC just yet, but the water block likely connects via PCIe given it's a little too chonky for a regular M.2 slot, and it could potentially house more than one NVMe SSD at a time. As you can probably tell from its name, the device is the successor to the T-Force Cardea Liquid water cooling SSD that Teamgroup released in 2019. In fact, the idea of a water cooled SSD goes back even further with EK's DIY water block in 2015. RELATED LINKS: Best SSD for gaming, How to build a gaming PC, Best gaming CPU |
| New World’s dungeons “offer a chance to go deeper” on combat Posted: 01 Sep 2021 10:19 AM PDT When Amazon Games' MMORPG New World launches next month, it'll bring Expeditions - the game's own take on instanced dungeons full of baddies to best and special loot to nab. Like New World's War mode, they'll also throw a more structured sequence of combat and gameplay at players that offers something very different to what's found in its overworld of Aeternum. There'll be six Expeditions to dive into when the MMO launches, and by blending challenge, story content, and the game's classless character progression, they'll "offer a chance to go deeper on both the combat and gameplay experience". "Our desire was to tell different stories about Aeternum," head of world experience Mike Willette tells us on how the team went about crafting Expeditions as their own distinct experiences. "Whether it was about a group of researchers going missing in a local ancient dig site, or the Angry Earth and their origins. Alongside that we want to add some pace breakers to the experience. Different types of challenges and puzzles that are tied to the spaces and make the overall experience richer." "For us, Expeditions are an important space to offer players a unique experience different from the open world," art director Charles Bradbury explains on the same point, adding that what New World's dungeons offer is "more hand-crafted content" that has "a flow and overarching narrative to follow". | Saints Row release date and everything we know Posted: 01 Sep 2021 09:33 AM PDT Want to know when the Saints Row's release date is? The Saints Row series has followed the 3rd Street Saints since their inception back in 2006. The open-world games have escalated the series' silliness with every release, going from shootouts with rival gangs, fighting off an alien invasion, and even escaping the fiery clutches of Hell. It's been six years since Saints Row: Gat out of Hell launched, and the developers feel like now is the perfect time to reboot the series. Officially unveiled at Gamescom 2021, the rebooted Saints Row was initially received poorly by longtime fans for deviating from the source material. The original characters have been reimagined, the story establishes the beginning of the group, and the gang's colour has temporarily switched from purple to blue. Now that the developers are able to speak directly to the fans via Twitter, it appears a lot of the initial anger has died down. Though the reveal trailer doesn't give too much away, you can expect the same over-the-top gameplay the series is known for when the reboot launches next year. Here's everything you need to know about Saints Row so far, including the game's fictional city, who the characters are, and what you can expect from the story. |
| The best Genshin Impact Aloy build Posted: 01 Sep 2021 09:08 AM PDT Looking for the best Genshin Impact Aloy build? If you have access to a PlayStation 4 or 5, you're in luck as Aloy can be unlocked for free in Genshin Impact 2.1. Once Aloy has been added to your roster, she can be used on any platform. The current Genshin Impact banner features Baal, also known as Raiden Shogun, and Kujou Sara. The leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance, Kokomi, is going to join the game when the Reign of Serenity banner ends. Aloy is a Cryo bow user who plays similarly to Yoimiya, which can be seen as a positive thing depending on who you ask… at least she's entirely free! The community's expectations for Aloy aren't high because she doesn't seem like a traditional five star character. Base stats usually separate five star characters from four stars, but Aloy seems to be five star in name only, similar to the Traveler. Despite Aloy's seemingly unimpressive stats, she is capable of stealing a spot in your party if you have the right equipment. Aloy's area-of-effect elemental burst can be utilised by most teams thanks to its freezing effect, so it's definitely worth giving her a try. Here's everything you need to create the best Genshin Impact Aloy build. RELATED LINKS: Play Genshin Impact for free, Genshin Impact character tier list, Genshin Impact leveling guide |
| Here’s your final look at Hearts of Iron 4’s new supply system – now with trains Posted: 01 Sep 2021 09:07 AM PDT One of the key features of Hearts of Iron IV's No Step Back expansion and the free update is that it will completely overhaul the grand strategy game's supply systems. We were given an early look at the new supply system in April, with a follow-up in June just before the developers went on their summer break. This weeks' dev diary offers one final look at the supply system - and it's all about trains, baby. Trains and the rail network as it is represented in-game will be instrumental to getting supplies to your troops on the frontlines. While trains can't always get supply all the way - you may need trucks to go that final mile - they are the backbone for getting supply to areas where the local supply is being overwhelmed by the number of troops in a region. You can even research new train variants which will make them more effective, either at carrying supply or at resisting attempts at disrupting supply lines, such as with air strikes. Armoured trains are now a thing, which is exciting if you like trains. RELATED LINKS: The best Hearts of Iron 4 mods, The best WW2 games on PC, The best grand strategy games on PC |
| Game Pass for PC will add Final Fantasy 13, Craftopia, and more in September Posted: 01 Sep 2021 08:53 AM PDT A new month has dawned, and September will see another round of games added to Xbox's subscription service on PC. Early this month, players have a nice selection of new and classic games to look forward to on the platform, including Final Fantasy XIII, Craftopia, Surgeon Simulator, and Nuclear Throne. September 2 (that's tomorrow, as of this writing), we'll see sandbox game Craftopia arrive on Game Pass, in 'game preview' form due to its Early Access status. Dustin has described Craftopia as "Minecraft meets Zelda: Breath of the Wild with tanks," to which I'd only add the note that there are also colossal Dune-style sandworms in there, too. We'll also see Final Fantasy XIII arrive September 2, and that's the entry in the long-running RPG game series that introduced us to Lightning, Snow Villiers, Oerba Dia Vanille, and the rest of the gang adventuring across the world of Gran Pulse. It's a more linear game than many of the Final Fantasy games that came before it, but its battle system was a huge hit with fans and critics. |
| Genshin Impact goes Dragon Ball Z for its first 2.1 event Posted: 01 Sep 2021 08:10 AM PDT Anyone who has watched Dragon Ball knows a good anime is never complete with a good fighting tournament. It's a fact of life we assume Genshin Impact developer Mihoyo also holds in high regard, as the anime game is getting another event that's themed around a fighting tournament to bring in update 2.1. Hyakunin Ikki is a free-for-all fighting tournament held in an unknown guild hall near Inazuma City. Essentially, you batter goons to rack up enough points to win challenge rewards like Primogems, Hero's Wit, talent level-up material, and Mora. It kicks off tomorrow (September 2) and is hanging around until September 13. There are a total of six challenges for you to complete in Hyakunin Ikki, with one more unlocking each day as the event rumbles on. You create six tag teams of two characters to take on the challenge, calling upon Garyuu Arts to add some flare. Each tag team gets two to use, and they offer buffs like increased attack speed and more health regen on each blow. Each challenge presents three difficulties that raise your score multiplier in exchange for a more brutal contest. | Far Cry 6 release date: everything we know about the new Far Cry Posted: 01 Sep 2021 08:03 AM PDT When is the Far Cry 6 release date? Far Cry 5 was one of Ubisoft's best performing releases in 2018, and while the New Dawn spinoff didn't garner as much attention or acclaim, it was only a matter of time before the publisher returned to the beloved FPS series and now, after a number of leaks, Far Cry 6 has been officially announced. Far Cry is a franchise that's grown from relative obscurity into one of Ubisoft's most bankable hits. The series has taken us across the globe, battling evil (and occasionally good) on tropical islands, across Africa, the Himalayas, and even in the US, with spin-offs and DLC pitting the player against aliens, cyborgs, and even yetis. Now we'll be travelling to the fictional Caribbean island of Yara amid civil unrest and a revolution following decades of economic sanctions. What else do we know about Far Cry 6? Well, thanks to a shiny new trailer and some pretty screenshots, a fair bit, as it turns out. Here's everything we know about Far Cry 6 so far. | Lost in Random shuffles deck building into a Tim Burton world Posted: 01 Sep 2021 08:00 AM PDT If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then the team behind Lost in Random really love Tim Burton's animated movies. Its world taps into the gothic suburbia that Burton is known for, and though its combat takes a while to hit its stride, the gorgeous claymation-like art style and the playful, mischievous score are a constant joy. When Even begins her journey through the World of Random to save her sister, Odd, from the clutches of the evil queen, she's practically defenceless. This expedition begins with a stealthy sequence in Even's hometown of One-Town, but it's not long before you're abruptly thrown into the real action. Dropping into a graveyard full of dice and facing the hammer of a towering metallic soldier, Even is saved from certain death by an adorably small and squeaky die. Which, naturally, she names Dicey. This is when Lost in Random's deck-building mechanic comes into play. Enemies - such as oversized chess pieces and nightmarish clockwork automatons - will grow crystals during battle, which Even can break with her slingshot. Collecting these crystals generates power for Dicey, and when the diminutive die is fully charged you can throw it, freezing time so you can play cards. It's a convoluted way to start a card game, sure, but if you must do so in the middle of a fight then stopping time seems a sensible precaution. | Genshin Impact amakumo fruit locations Posted: 01 Sep 2021 07:52 AM PDT Looking for amakumo fruit in Genshin Impact? You need this rare ascension material to level up Raiden Shogun and create the best Baal build in Genshin Impact. So, where can you find them? The 2.1 update has arrived, and with it new Genshin Impact characters: Baal, Sara, and Aloy. Although Aloy is free to PlayStation owners of Adventure Rank 20 or higher, PC players will have to wait until the 2.2 update to play as her. Fortunately, the current Genshin Impact banner features some powerful characters and new weapons, with a Kokomi banner arriving mid-way through the update. To obtain amakumo fruit and level up Raiden Shogun, you first need to head to Seirai Island, one of the new locations in Inazuma. You can pick up around 90 amakumo fruits per run, and you need a total of 168 amakumo fruit to fully level Baal. Here's where to find this precious fruit, which has a light blue bud and pale red stem - you can acquire two fruit per plant, so be sure to grab both. | Fortnite mission kits – where to place jammers outside the IO base Posted: 01 Sep 2021 07:18 AM PDT Do you want to know where the mission kits are in Fortnite and how to place the jammers outside the IO base? This new set of legendary challenges signals the end of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7. Firstly, you need to find a mission kit and then place a jammer outside of the IO base in the same match. This can be tricky if you're unfamiliar with the area, especially since others will try to eliminate you before you are finished. Upon completing this challenge, you have some other legendary challenges to finish before next week's finale. This includes dropping secret documents at certain bus stops on the Fortnite map, talking to either Joey, Sunny, or Dreamflower – one of the Fortnite NPCs. You also need to leave an IO car at an alien settlement, all before returning to the IO base to deploy pallets with cat food. In this guide, you'll find the mission kit in Lazy Lake and all of the jammer locations in Corny Complex in one place, so you won't need to consult the in-game map every few seconds. | A Total War Saga: Troy – Mythos review Posted: 01 Sep 2021 07:00 AM PDT When Total War Saga: Troy came out last year, its approach to mythology divided opinion. Developer Creative Assembly Sofia used the concept of the "truth behind the myth" to ground Greek mythology's weirdest and wildest tales in realism: Harpies became skirmishers dressed in bird feathers, the minotaur became a big bloke with a cow skull, and centaurs became men with horses instead of actual horse-men. It was an undeniably smart concept, but as I commented at the time: smart isn't always fun. That's why Troy's Mythos expansion has me excited. Going fully fantastical, Mythos not only creates a new mythological campaign with new versions of its creatures, it also adds three monsters of myth for players to track, capture, and put to work: Cerberus, the Lernaean Hydra, and the Archgriffin. These monsters are more than just big recruitable beasties, though, and each has their own set of unique buildings, mechanics, and units. We're talking about legendary, one-of-a-kind creatures after all, and there's a price to pay if you want them and their followers to do your bidding. As this is a Total War game that price is, naturally, besting them in battle. RELATED LINKS: A Total War Saga: Troy review, Best Total War games, Best strategy games |
| New World Amrine Excavation guide Posted: 01 Sep 2021 06:07 AM PDT Want to know how to beat the Amrine Excavation expedition in New World? This is the first of many raid dungeons in the game and if you've been playing alone up until this point, you will now need a party that can withstand attacks from stronger monsters. You should probably brush up on how to use the best weapons and define whether you're a DPS character or a supporting player. Much like the raid dungeons from the best MMO games out there, this dungeon is split into several segments. While the vast majority of this first expedition is relatively straightforward with the right team composition, there are a couple of hurdles that may stump you if this is your first time going in. To help you with the first major raid of the game, we figured we'd give you some tips for what kind of party works best for completing the Amrine Excavation expedition in New World. Here are some solutions to the trickier challenges and a list of the available rare loot that you can potentially find within. Note that these tips come from our time with the New World closed beta, so are subject to change. RELATED LINKS: New World system requirements, New World factions, New World release date |
| Interstellar grand strategy RPG Star Dynasties leaves Early Access today Posted: 01 Sep 2021 07:09 AM PDT Star Dynasties is a turn-based grand strategy RPG that's currently been going through the motions on Steam Early Access since early this year. 'Crusader Kings in space' is a term I've used previously, and while reductive, it should help you at least conceptualise the strategy game's premise, which puts you in charge of an interstellar dynasty trying to survive in a cut-throat, feudalistic society. It's now ready to leave Early Access, and is set to do so later today. The developers have kept a tight schedule for their pre-release run - even the store page blurb on Steam mentions a six-month or so Early Access period, which so far they have managed to stick to. The public development roadmap from March outlined a short series of key updates focused on a story and events editor, a new expeditions mechanic, and then the full release at the end of the period with improvements to how colonies work. The expeditions system was released in the last major update towards the end of July, which also came with improvements to the modding system first introduced in May. | No Man’s Sky update adds “living, breathing Mos Eisley-type settlements” Posted: 01 Sep 2021 06:00 AM PDT The updates just keep on coming to No Man's Sky. Hello Games has just revealed the space game's next big content drop will introduce something fans have been hankering for for quite some time: "living, breathing Mos Eisley-type settlements". Hello says this hasn't been possible before now, and has proved a "huge technical and design challenge" - but with the new Frontiers update, you can go get cosy in settlements across the game's universe. These settlements are essentially "little towns, filled with NPCs with their own tasks and problems", as Hello explains in a press release. You can not only stumble across these, but also opt to lead them as an 'overseer', and grow them from fledgling outposts into much bigger, thriving places. If you take on this role, you'll get to construct new buildings, which'll encourage more folks to move there. The update also overhauls the game's existing base building feature to aid in this, as well as adding hundreds of new parts for bases, advanced building controls, and a new grid-style menu to help you build even more complex and ambitious structures. Each settlement is procedurally generated, with its own layout and style, and as a leader of one you can rename it as you like. | PUBG’s next Survivor Pass arrives on PC September 8 with a new ‘casual mode’ Posted: 31 Aug 2021 02:55 PM PDT PUBG: Battlegrounds - the battle royale game formerly known as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - will start up its next Survivor Pass on PC September 8. The update adds a fan-favourite weapon into care packages, includes a new vehicle, and features a wacky new grenade that lets you use the blue zone as a weapon. The next Survivor Pass is called Crazy Night, and it'll run from September 7 through November 2. If this seems a bit long, that's because it is - the Survivor Pass system is getting updated, and the season length is being extended from six weeks to eight weeks. You'll still be progressing through 50 levels, earning a new name plate, spray, and a contraband coupon, but you'll have some extra time to complete it. The P90 SMG will arrive as well, showing up in care packages once update 13.2 is live. While it's usually a short- to mid-range weapon, the care package P90 is loaded with its own unique rounds that make it viable at long range as well. | Hollow Knight: Silksong fan creates striking 3D trailer with claymation vibes Posted: 01 Sep 2021 04:26 AM PDT A former Pixar staffer turned their hand to creating a 3D trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong, and you know what? The results are as excellent as you'd hope for. While the trailer gives you a peep at what Hollow Knight might look like in 3D, it has a beautiful claymation vibe that we're pretty smitten with. The fan-animated trailer kicks off with upcoming protagonist Hornet pushing her way through a vast, creaky door that towers over her. She then chances upon the familiar, cracked skull of The Knight as the medley of The City of Tears kicks in - essentially, there is oodles for you to pick up on if you've played the previous game. The mood of the fan short then shifts as an enemy appears, only to be felled by Hornet's nail. Content creator 3D Print Guy put the video together. As the name might suggest, their channel is stuffed with other 3D animations that involve games like Among Us and League of Legends. When they're not putting together videos or 3D printable models, 3D Print Guy works in the animation industry as a 3D modeller. RELATED LINKS: Best Indie Games, Upcoming PC Games |
| The best RTS games on PC in 2021 Posted: 01 Sep 2021 03:53 AM PDT It's impossible to overstate how enjoyable RTS games can be. There are few things as satisfying as building up an immense army and simply washing over your foes like a river over stones, erasing their existence as effortlessly as a click. If you're looking for a broader list of the best strategy games then we've got a separate list for that - this one's all about real-time, where you can't hide behind the safety of turn-based strategy's pace. The genre is largely defined by the likes of Starcraft and Age of Empires, but Indie games like Northgard and Driftland have shown there's plenty of other voices to be heard. There's also plenty to celebrate in games that are technically real-time, but not strictly speaking considered 'RTS'. The rise of MOBAs has challenged the RTS scene quite significantly over the past decade, but this hasn't stopped some worthy games rising to the top ranks to earn their own place the hall of fame. Here's our take on the best RTS games on PC, though we're skewing more towards newer releases because, honestly, we all know how good Homeworld was by now. | What is the current and next Genshin Impact banner? Posted: 01 Sep 2021 04:43 AM PDT Wondering what the next Genshin Impact banner is? Genshin Impact banners adhere to a pretty regular schedule. Each update arrives with a new banner that lasts around three weeks, and after it expires, it's followed by a second banner which also lasts roughly three weeks, at which point it's update time once again. This means even though we hear rumours of new Genshin Impact characters arriving in forthcoming updates, we won't know their exact release date until we know which banner they will be a part of, and whether it'll be the first or second banner in the update. Occasionally, banners don't stick to this schedule - most notably, update 1.3 had three two-week banners, so that Hu Tao's banner didn't cross over with the Chinese New Year. Typically, each limited character banner - or Event Wish - contains a five-star character, and three four-star characters. There's also a Weapon banner - Epitome Invocation - which runs alongside each character banner, and features different weapons each time.
