| Posted: 02 Nov 2021 10:38 AM PDT With the return of Russell T Davies as the Doctor Who showrunner set for 2023, the BBC has compromised an extremely rich revenue stream. Reports indicate that Davies made his return to the sci-fi series contingent upon this deal. And so the show will be taken over by Bad Wolf – the production company started by two former Doctor Who execs. Bad Wolf will be responsible for the creative direction of the show. However, the BBC will still be responsible for merchandise and and international sales. This deal could mean that the BBC will lose out on millions of dollars of revenue from Doctor Who. Who Is Bad Wolf?![]() Rose Tyler & The 10th Doctor | Image via BBC Bad Wolf is a production company that began in 2015, founded by Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter. The duo launched the company after departing the BBC, but during their tenure at the network they both worked with Davies on Doctor Who. The name of the company is a reference to Doctor Who and the Bad Wolf storyline involving Rose Tyler in the first series of the reboot. Since their launch, Bad Wolf has been responsible for bringing shows to the BBC and HBO Max like His Dark Materials, A Discovery of Witches, and The Night Of. Bad Wolf said the following in a statement. “We are delighted to be joining Russell T Davies on a looped ontological paradox. Where Russell goes, we are proud to follow. With BBC Studios, Bad Wolf will be producing the all-new series of Doctor Who. It is a privilege to be asked to support him in Doctor Who's future." Sony Acquires Bad Wolf And Doctor Who Distribution![]() Image via BBC In addition to this strange deal is another bit of news. Bad Wolf is also set to be acquired by Sony Entertainment by the end of the year. Since Sony has an exclusive deal with HBO Max for distribution, that could mean that Doctor Who will become widely available on the streaming network in the future. And if Sony is now in charge of distribution, that could be a financial blow to the BBC. Moving from the BBC to Bad Wolf is a dramatic change for Doctor Who, as the show has historically been produced by the BBC. What kind of changes this will mean for the show is unclear. But it certainly seems as though Russell T Davies wants full creative control over the future of Doctor Who. Fans of Davies may rejoice at this news. But diehard fans of Doctor Who who remember the original series may be uncomfortable handing the beloved show over to a new production company, and larger entertainment conglomerates. Davies Will Return To TARDS In 2023![]() Russell T Davies | Image via the BBC Russell T Davies is due to return to Doctor Who in 2023. Current showrunner Chris Chibnall and star Jodie Whittaker are still onboard the TARDIS through 2022. Their last season just kicked off on Sunday with Doctor Who: Flux. They will remain in charge of Doctor Who through 2022 after the end of this season and two Doctor Who specials that will inevitably see our first female Doctor regenerate into whatever dude Davies chooses to be the next Doctor. | Chris Pratt Adds Garfield to His List of Voice Acting Credits Posted: 02 Nov 2021 09:20 AM PDT When it comes to on-screen roles, most of us think of Star-Lord or Andy Dwyer when we hear Chris Pratt’s name. But we’re in a timeline that keeps getting more confusing, so in a few short years, he’ll be remembered for iconic roles including Mario and Garfield. Yep, Chris Pratt has officially been added to the voice cast for a Garfield movie. Chris Pratt Set To Voice Garfield, Begins Takeover Of Animated FilmsThe untitled project based on Jim Davis’ original comic strip is in the works with Alcon Entertainment, with its release by Sony Pictures. David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) is penning the script, and Mark Dindal (Chicken Little) is set to direct. This film will reportedly be entirely animated. The news comes as a partial delight to those who weren’t fans of the previous partially animated, mostly live-action Garfield in 2004 and its follow-up in 2006. Bill Murray voiced the ginger cat in these films, which remains one of his favorite roles to date. (Just kidding. He claims that he signed on after mistakenly thinking it was being made by one of the Coen Brothers when in reality it was Joel Cohen.) Does This Casting Decision Make Sense? Many of us do think of Pratt as a rising acting star or comedian excellent with physical comedy. But an animated cat? Not so much. However, his various voice acting roles prove that he isn’t a bad casting decision for this film. This includes his role as Emmet Brickowski in The Lego Movie and Barley Lightfoot in Onward. The actor was cast as the lead in an upcoming Mario film earlier this year. The movie, produced by Illumination in association with Nintendo, brings forth an impressive voice cast including Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Jack Black. But Pratt’s casting did bring forth some controversy. Some were upset that a non-Italian actor was cast. Others just couldn’t picture him as the famous plumber. ![]() Onward. | Riders Republic Review – Fun to the Extreme Posted: 02 Nov 2021 07:45 AM PDT Extreme sports fever was huge when I was growing up. As a 90s kid, there was this weird obsession in pop culture with skateboarding and snowboarding. Even BMX had its moment. While I never mastered those realms, I did know my way around a Razer Scooter. And yeah, I was brave enough to try little jumps with it. So, you know, I understand the thrill of an adrenaline rush as you brave a sick trick or daring feat. In Riders Republic, you get to master various extreme sports on a gorgeous landscape of environments in an open-world setting. When Ubisoft announced this title, I was certainly intrigued. After playing it for the better part of a week, I’m downright sold on this being a surprise hit for 2021. If you’re a fan of extreme sports games or just looking for some adventure, then read our review of Riders Republic. Shreddin’ Snow and Looking Good Doing It![]() Image Credit: Ubisoft First thing’s first: Riders Republic looks gorgeous on Xbox Series X. If you’re a fan of visuals when it comes to outdoor environments, then this is an immediate plus for you. Overall, I predicted that the visuals for Riders Republic would be solid after Ubisoft Forward at E3 2021. What took me by surprise when working on this review was how much damn fun the gameplay is. You can argue that an extreme sports title is going to limit you in what you can do. How many ways can you ski and mountain bike, right? Well, adopting a Forza Horizon style open-world was genius and keeps content fresh from the very start. When approaching the review for Riders Republic, I didn’t want to spend a ton of time detailing the story. That’s because quite frankly I don’t care much about any of the NPCs or story elements. Overall, you have to include them, but they’re not what shines here. I can split things I love about the game into two categories: environments and actual gameplay. Let’s knock out visuals first. Using GPS rendering, there are seven regions in Riders Republic to explore. From Yosemite to Sequoia, the areas in this game look stunning on new-gen consoles. As you explore landmarks, hunt for relics, and seek collectibles around the massive map, you have a lot to soak in when it comes to visuals. I don’t always use Photo Mode in games, but I found myself playing with it quite a bit in Riders Republic. The in-game camera even offers editing tools for brightness, contrast, saturation, and aperture. Ubisoft knows the game looks good and gives you tools to show it off, which I love. Riders Republic is As Fun as It Looks![]() Image Credit: Ubisoft If you see an extreme sports game, then you sort of hope it’s going to be as thrilling to play as it looks. Good news: Riders Republic delivers the thrills in its gameplay. Currently, the game features three main sports: Ski & Snowboard, Mountain Bike, and the Wingsuit. Ubisoft mentioned these being the sports offered “at launch” which leaves me hoping there’s room to include more in the future. The sports that come with the game now, however, are enough to keep you busy. On that massive map I raved about, you tackle different races, trick competitions, and challenges to earn stars that open up new challenges. Each race or competition also unlocks new gear for you, which I found to be a nice touch. You’re literally always getting new toys to play with, which is perfect for a game like this. There’s integrated multiplayer too, meaning the world is filled with other players who are exploring just like you. It feels like a giant extreme sports camp where you all showed up to have a good time. Funnily enough, that’s the premise of the game, just in case you skipped the cutscenes and missed that part. One feature I love a lot is Zen Mode. This takes away the challenges and just lets you explore. Pick a point on the map, drop-in, and ride. It’s really nice to just sort of explore while winding down for the day or turning your brain off for a bit. Of course, when the action calls back to you, you can answer it and return to the hundreds of challenges that await. Riders Republic Review Score![]() Image Credit: Ubisoft I review games on a scale of 1-10; Riders Republic is a 9 for me. The fun factor this game alone makes it worth a purchase. There’s so much to do and it’s exhilarating to check out the gorgeous areas that await you. Some weird bugs with multiplayer integration like running into players while trying to complete challenges is annoying. Likewise, there are moments in the races and challenges that feel a bit janky. Things like the controls are great, but sometimes things like drifting into turns feel like the game is holding your hand a bit. Plus, I mentioned the story isn’t all that worthwhile to follow closely. Otherwise, I don’t have complaints about the overall experience. If you’re looking for a game with tons of content, then this is a great choice. With pop-up challenges you can compete in against other players online to precision courses that test your riding ability, there’s so much to do. While this isn’t as silly or brash as the open-world Tony Hawk games, it’s just as fun. I mean, there’s even a great soundtrack. Between the great visuals, the gameplay, and the overall fun factor, Riders Republic is one of the most pleasant surprises of 2021. Riders Republic is Available Now for Console and PCYou can pick up Riders Republic right now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, PS4|PS5, and PC. | Review: mClassic Console Upscale Plug-and-Play Device Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:37 AM PDT There’s a beloved tradition of revisiting retro consoles and their best games. There’s even a community of people who love playing bad games. All in all, gaming is a unique hobby because it doesn’t just involve keeping up to date on the latest and greatest. It’s also a love letter to games and consoles in the past. That said, playing your old consoles and retro games can be a bit of an eyesore. Sure, you love the old-school look, but upping the resolution and quality of your old games wouldn’t hurt. That’s my thinking anyways, and exactly why I wanted to review the Marseille mClassic Console Device. From retro consoles to past-gen favorites like the Nintendo Wii and PS3, you’ll definitely want to give this plug-and-play enhancer a try. Retro and Last-Gen Graphics Upgrades Made Easy![]() Image Credit: Marseille Retro games are some of my favorite titles to go back and play. I’m a particularly passionate fan of past Nintendo consoles. That’s why to this day I keep a GameCube and Wii U hooked up in my home. Both can offer a bit of a rough look when it comes to playing these consoles and their classic games. That’s why the mClassic comes in handy for gamers who want to try old games in a new light. The mClassic can up-res games into 4K and 1440p. While this might sound difficult given old console’s power, that’s exactly why the device is so impressive. Insert the mClassic into the HDMI port on your game console and you’ll notice some real boosts to the experience. The cool thing about the device is it does work with consoles that aren’t native 4K consoles. That does in fact mean the Nintendo Switch, and I tried something a little creative when testing out the device on different consoles. With the new addition of Switch Online Nintendo 64 content, I tried the mClassic on titles like Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64. To my delight, they look better than ever. Even plugging in the mClassic to a HDMI converter with my GameCube left me really impressed given the graphical output of titles like Super Mario Sunshine. That game is nearly two decades old. Even in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection the game doesn’t look this good. While I’m someone who thinks playing retro games is a real treat, I also like the expanded look the mClassic gives older games. Try Out the mClassic Console Upscale Plug-and-Play Device This Holiday Season![]() Image Credit: Marseille If you’re looking to gift a gamer something fun to explore and try out this holiday season, then I’d recommend the mClassic. Try it with any of your favorite older consoles. The device can upscale half a million pixels to 2 million pixels (SD to HD), 2 million to 8 million (HD to 4K Cinema). On a 4K TV, I was pleasantly surprised with the results. If you want to learn more about the mClassic, check out the Marseille website. Additionally, drop any comments on the device you have below. I’ll try to answer them all in terms of my experience using the mClassic for this review. Thanks for reading Comic Years for all things gaming, comics, and pop culture. | A Monster-Filled Trailer For The Witcher Season 2 Is Here Posted: 02 Nov 2021 12:35 AM PDT Over Halloween weekend we got a bit of a treat from Netflix in the form of a new trailer for The Witcher season 2. In this glimpse of The Witcher, we get to see where the core characters of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and even dear Jaskier ended up after the dramatic conclusion of the first season. But the focus of this trailer was certainly on the many monsters of The Witcher. And they look stunning and fearsome, thanks in part to what appears to be a significant budget upgrade for the special effects after the success of the first season. So what can we expect from season 2 of The Witcher? Let’s dive into the trailer and find out. Deeper Characterization And Character Bonds For Season 2If the first season of The Witcher was all about Geralt’s solitary existence as a lone (white) wolf, then season 2 will show us how far he has come. Instead of the lonely existence we saw last season, now Geralt has a number of people whom he cares about and is trying to protect. Foremost among these characters is of course the young princess Ciri, who spent the majority of the first season running for her life. Now that Geralt and his “child of surprise” have finally met up, the two of them will make a surprisingly formidable team fighting monsters and mankind alike. ![]() Image via Netflix In an effort to protect Ciri, Geralt has taken her home to the Witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen. This is where we meet some of the other people Geralt holds dear, including his mentor Vesemir. Together the Witchers will train Ciri as a warrior, as Geralt knows that in order to survive she must learn to fight. And Ciri must also learn to control her mysterious magic as she begins to learn more about who she truly is – and how important she is to the fate of the world. Ciri acknowledges that this fight is hers as well. As the heir to Cintra she must find a way to reclaim her place and save her country. Because it seems that war with Nilfgaard is inevitable, and Ciri is at the heart of the conflict. Found Families For Lonely Characters![]() Anya Chalotra as Yennefer | Image via Netflix Elsewhere in the world is another character whom Geralt cares for deeply, Yennefer of Vengerberg. Presumed dead after the Battle of Sodden at the end of last season, Geralt begins this season unaware that Yennefer is still alive. Gravely wounded after the battle, we see a bloody and anguished Yennefer in this trailer. Eventually we know that Yennefer must reunite with Geralt, as we see a brief glimpse of her riding across an open field with Ciri at her side. In the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, these three characters form an unconventional family. Showrunner Lauren Hissrich has also spoken about how season 2 will focus on ‘found families,’ and the bonds that Geralt shares with others. Look At All The Monsters![]() Image via Netflix But enough about families and developed characterization, let’s talk about the monsters. As we said above, it certainly looks like the CGI budget got a significant upgrade for season 2 of The Witcher. The monsters look extremely realistic and deeply scary. And there are quite a few of them on display, drawing from the books for lore as well as the video games for aesthetic. First up we have a friendly monster, who is really just a man living under a curse. His name is Nivellan, played by none other than Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) himself. We know that he is (mostly) harmless because he is sitting by the fire having a friendly chat with Geralt. Instead of meeting the end of his silver sword. Magic & Monsters Out Of Slavic Folklore![]() Image via Netflix But there are plenty of other monsters for Geralt to fight in season 2. We get a glimpse of a bruxa – a type of vampire who appears as a woman in white screaming at Geralt. Elsewhere we see some of the sorcerers – including Istredd – gazing upon a house that seems to move and watch them. This is a reference to the Baba Yaga who is a powerful Slavic witch. And one of the best known figures of Eastern European folklore. And finally the most impressive monster on display in the trailer for The Witcher season 2 is the Leshen. This nature spirit takes the form of a monstrous tree. Leshens are often revered as gods by the local populace. In the trailer we see Geralt and Ciri fighting back to back against the Leshen, wildly swinging at the roots that attack them. The Leshen is a creature of ancient magic, just like Geralt and Ciri themselves. But we are confident that our favorite Witcher (and Witcher in training) will prevail in the end. ![]() Image via Netflix What other monsters did you spot in the trailer for season 2 of The Witcher? | The Book Of Boba Fett Trailer Sets Up The Bounty Hunter As A Godfather-like Mob Boss Posted: 02 Nov 2021 12:20 AM PDT Cancel all your 2021 New Years' plans because The Book Of Boba Fett trailer is here and it's gonna herald in the new year! Releasing December 29, the original Star Wars series that spins off of The Mandalorian promised to showcase the aftermath of the return of Boba Fett. Titled The Book Of Boba Fett, the trailer gives us a lot more detail as to exactly how that's going to look. And it looks all kinds of awesome! I mean, I'm not biased, because I'm not the audience that grew up revering the bounty hunter first seen in the original Star Wars trilogy. So I don't have any sort of inflated sense of importance for the character. But his reemergence in The Mandalorian season 2, in an epic action scene that, arguably, is unparalleled in the Star Wars universe, made me fall in love! Well, ok. I guess there is some biased preference for this character on my part. The Trailer Of The Book Of Boba Fett Is Unlike What We Expected![]() Image via Disney Plus. The high crescendo with which The Mandalorian season 2 ended, teased a larger-than-life spin-off series in The Book Of Boba Fett. But the trailer for the show seems to promise a more nuanced and subtle show in its themes and tones. The post-credit sequence showed Boba (Temuera Morrison) taking over Jabba The Hutt's castle, and in many ways, symbolically taking over his former criminal empire. Of which, he was a freelance contractor. With Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen, like Dave Filoni from Pittsburgh, PA) by his side, things were about to go down! And now we know that those things are high stakes conference table meetings where open threats are met with… unbridled respect! My sarcastic tone notwithstanding, I'm actually glad that this new series might focus on a more nuanced look at the criminal underworld, instead of shadows and shooting. It looks like Boba has a clear goal in mind about how he wants to run this new empire. One where he will rule with respect, and not fear, as he says in the trailer. Which is interesting, as it also makes it seem like the writers are turning him from a ruthless mercenary to an anti-hero with a moral code? Which is, an interesting shift in his depiction. But one that definitely suits the story that's continuing from The Mandalorian. Not to mention the massive Bacta Tank glow-up where he's all healed from his previous facial scarring. Which, I guess I would also focus on if I was readying to take over an evil empire. Is Boba Fett the Godfather of Star Wars?![]() Image via Disney Plus. My biggest takeaway from this trailer of The Book Of Boba Fett is how much it feels like a gangster movie. The way that Boba is carrying himself, like a Denzel in American Gangster—cold, calm, and commanding— is absolutely also giving me Godfather vibes. Especially when you add in that the loyal Fennec Shand seems to be by his side, threatening people, while he has to call her off, while still maintaining the upper hand. It's a new corner of the Star Wars universe that I'm excited to visit. Getting to see the behind-the-scenes dealings of the criminal element is something that has always been like a superficial element of all the Star Wars media. Not counting the new High Republic series, and the entire franchise being about Darth Vader, we haven't really explored the grounded, street-level villainy of Star Wars. And seeing that it's not going to be overly grandiose and exaggerated depictions of villains doing villainous things, excites me even further. The real question now, is if we're going to get the first-ever live-action Cad Bane in this series? We'll find out when The Book Of Boba Fett releases on Disney Plus on December 29.Are you looking forward to how this new Star Wars series will play out? Let me know in the comments below. | Posted: 01 Nov 2021 02:35 PM PDT Doctor Who: Flux has arrived, with a premiere that heralds the beginning of the end for showrunner Chris Chibnall and star Jodie Whittaker. It is both the final act for these two who will depart the series after the end of Flux. And it might also be the end of the universe – again! The premiere episode Doctor Who: Flux sets up this truncated and serialized season by showcasing new characters and a few familiar villains. Let’s see what the premiere episode of Doctor Who: Flux brought in an episode titled The Halloween Apocalypse. The Doctor And Companions Face New Mysteries
The premiere of Doctor Who: Flux kicked off in media res, with the Doctor and Yaz dangling over an ocean of acid. They seem to be arguing with a big blue blob? Their banter indicates that some time has passed since former companions Ryan and Graham departed the TARDIS. Since then Yaz has been the sole companion for the Doctor, and they have been on a number of adventures. One of those excursions apparently involved a high-gravity acrobatics course where they gained the skills to do a truly ridiculous flip on a gravity bar to escape. A high-octane action sequence ensues as the two of them race to get back to the safety of the TARDIS. Except not all is as it seems in the TARDIS. There is weird black goop dripping from the crystals, and the door seems to be moving around at random. More troubling, the ship keeps stalling. And if we know one thing it is that if something is goes wrong with the TARDIS, then there is something up with the Doctor as well. What Is Division?![]() Photo by James Pardon via the BBC These troubles may be related to a different villain, one who is lurking behind the scenes as the Doctor hunts down someone named Karvanista. In a variety of scenes that occur across different timelines, we slowly learn about a character called “The Swarm.” This is an ancient alien imprisoned from the dawn of time. When he breaks free and grows some crystals on his face, the Doctor suddenly has a vision brought by a psychic link to the alien. Apparently the Doctor has faced this enemy many times across the eons, but those memories have been erased. Most likely by a mysterious organization called Division. Because it is Division that the Doctor is truly searching for in her hunt for Karvanista. This new alien is extremely Wookie-like, except with more canine features. His true face is first revealed as he abducts a human named Dan Lewis, played by John Bishop. The Doctor and Yaz run to his rescue, picking up a new companion in the process. But surprisingly saving Dan is only a perk of the journey, as the Doctor interrogates Karvanista about Division. The Flux Is Coming![]() Jacob Anderson in Doctor Who | Image via BBC America We are left with few answers however, as the Doctor learns that there are bigger issues in the universe that she was somehow unaware of. The Flux is coming, we are ominously warned in the Doctor Who premiere. And soon we see it for ourselves, first through the eyes of another new character named Vinder (Jacob Anderson). From his outpost at the edge of the universe, Vinder witnesses the Flux as it obliterates planets. Soon, the Doctor, Yaz, and Dan see this unknown phenomena for themselves. It appears to be tied to the awakening of The Swarm in some way. And it is coming for the Doctor. Elsewhere, we meet a woman who seems to be human but is eventually revealed to be an alien similar to The Swarm. He rescues her from her domestic life living as a human, and changes her back into her true from. The Swarm calls her his ‘sister’ and we know that her name is Azure. However we know little about these mysterious villains, and they seem to be at the heart of this season’s greatest mystery. New Faces And Familiar Foes![]() Image via the BBC There are a couple of other new faces that pop up in this episode, alongside some familiar monsters. We meet a woman named Claire, who seems to know the Doctor and Yaz. But soon after their meeting, Claire encounters a lone Weeping Angel. She seems to know the basic rules of how to deal with them, struggling to keep her eyes on the statue and not blink. This scene is genuinely scary and full of tension. And we definitely have questions about who Claire is, and what role she will play in the larger story. The Weeping Angels are not the only familiar Doctor Who antagonists featured in this episode. Elsewhere we see a group of Sontarans, ready to take advantage of the chaos caused by the Flux. They are prepared to attack Earth once more. The second episode of Doctor Who: Flux will address this situation, with an epic battle against the Sontarans. We are also bound to also see some Cybermen and the Ood in upcoming episodes. A New Companion For The Doctor![]() Image via the BBC With two of her companions departing at the end of the last holiday special, it seemed as though Yaz would be the sole companion moving forward. However, we knew going into this season that there would be a new companion joining the Tardis. That would be the character of Dan, who got a rude introduction to space travel in this episode. I was uncertain about adding a new companion for the final run of Whitaker’s doctor. However, Dan was an unexpected delight in this episode. He is funny and heartfelt, and clearly bewildered by what is happening. But he takes it all in stride, and is soon working side by side with Yaz and the Doctor. Dan’s knowledge of history around his hometown of Liverpool is also certain to come in handy. Especially considering the mysterious tunnels that were dug beneath the city in some of the scenes from the 1800’s. ![]() Image via BBC Another new character that will be a big part of this season is Vinder. Although he will not be an official companion, we know that he will work with the Doctor in later episodes. His storyline involving the Flux is already crossing over with the Doctor’s, so it was a little disappointing that they did not cross paths this premiere episode of Doctor Who: Flux. However, we know that this shortened season is meant to be serialized. So although the episodes are airing weekly as per the norm, the overall season will be one long story centered around the Flux. Previous Doctor Who Episodes Give Clues To This Season’s Mystery![]() The Doctor (JODIE WHITTAKER), Ruth Clayton (JO MARTIN) – (C) BBC – Photographer: Ben Blackall There are a few tidbits from previous Doctor Who episodes that might give us an idea of what is going on with this season’s mystery. First there is the character of Azure. Her life as a human may be due to a device called the Chameleon Arch. This is the same device that allowed the character of Ruth to live as a human last season. It was then revealed that she is a secret unknown incarnation of the Doctor. I suspect that Ruth might be the key to the overall mystery of the Swarm and the Flux. After all we learned last season about The Timeless Child, we know that there are lives and memories that the Doctor no longer remembers. There is some precedent for this, as with the revelation of The War Doctor back during Steven Moffat’s 50th anniversary special. This was an incarnation that had been forgotten by later Doctors, until circumstances forced them to confront this warrior version of themselves. ![]() Image via BBC Our current Doctor thought she knew all of her faces and identities from previous incarnations. However, she is learning that much of her memory has been taken from her. This could be due to the mysterious organization that she is searching for – Division. We obviously don’t know anything about Division yet, but I would guess that they are Time Lords who have been manipulating the Doctor across the centuries. And I would not be at all surprised if The Master was also involved somehow, as he has been at work behind the scenes throughout much of Chibnall’s run. The Final Chapter For Whitaker & Chibnall![]() Image via BBC Chris Chibnall has spent much of his tenure as showrunner establishing new mythology for Doctor Who. With the end of his tenure approaching, we can only hope that Flux wraps up all of the stories including The Timeless Child, Doctor Ruth, and Division in a satisfactory way that will lead into the next series when former showrunner Russell T. Davies returns. Doctor Who: Flux will air five more episodes in this truncated season on the BBC. This will be followed by two Doctor Who specials due to air in 2022, when we will inevitably see our first female Doctor regenerate into a new form. | The Summit Of The Gods Official Trailer Is Finally Here And I’ve Got Goosebumps Posted: 01 Nov 2021 12:42 PM PDT It's been a while since we've heard anything about, or seen anything from The Summit Of The Gods anime adaptation. The award-winning manga turned anime series was in development for what seems like forever. But we finally have The Summit Of The Gods official trailer, as well as a release date. And the trailer is as visually spectacular and jaw-clenchingly tense as the teaser was. But obviously, more so. Check out the trailer below and find out why I'm excited and anxious about this release. The Summit Of The Gods Official Trailer Double Downs On The Anxiety![]() Image via Netflix. The teaser for this new Netflix original series was just a brief one-scene sequence. Arguably, the most desperate and harrowing scene, even in the official trailer itself. But the longer Summit Of The Gods trailers expands on that and build up to that moment. The story is a survivalist one, of one man and his deep-seated reasons to climb Mt. Everest. A young photojournalist joins him on this dangerous journey, but with ominous stipulations from the climber. His justification is the feeling of isolation he requires in order to focus on his climb. The Summit Of The Gods is this one man's journey to reach new heights in his life. Literally. Although, the plotline teases a different kind of show. One where the journalist goes in search of a missing climber. I'm not sure if the story will go back and forth between the climber, his eventual disappearance and the search for him, but my curiosity is definitely piqued. How The Summit Of The Gods Trailer Builds Suspense![]() Image via Netflix. The official trailer for The Summit Of The Gods begins with some very ominous music. With shots of the man climbing in bad weather, the trailer goes back to his preparation. And how the young journalist wants to document his journey. The lead character seems grumpy through it all, but the music also implies that there's more to this. The techno tunes of an 80's sci-fi film, the music is a bigger part of this trailer. And that's where I'm really intrigued by this show. The music is one element of this show that builds hype and tension. The atmosphere of the teaser is a great one as it really gets under your skin with the visuals and the background score that immediately puts you on the edge. It's almost like drawing a parallel to the fear, anxiety, adrenaline and sense of caution that, I imagine, climbers must feel during their adventures. But in any case, it's this vibe that the official trailer creates, that gets me super excited for the show. The Summit Of The Gods premieres on Netflix on November 30.Did the trailer for this new show get you as hyped as it did me?
