Forza Horizon 5 review — Stuff of legend Posted: 04 Nov 2021 12:01 AM PDT If you came here only to see what score I gave Forza Horizon 5, allow me to provide a quick answer: it’s the best racing experience that I’ve played to date, bar none. Playground Games has absolutely outdone itself with this release, and set a new standard for what an open-world racer can be. The depth of the gameplay and its mechanics, the world, the presentation — this is the new crème de la crème of its genre. Or, as I should say — lo mejor de lo mejor! From its opening moments of having you speed down the side of an active volcano in a Ford Bronco after launching from a cargo plane, Forza Horizon 5 shows you exactly what absurdly amazing deathtrap of a situation you’ve gotten yourself into. It simply tells you to hold on and enjoy. The game is a non-stop rollercoaster ride from the get-go, and it just gets wilder the more you play. Having been with the series since its PC arrival with Horizon 3, I can say that not only has Horizon‘s formula be...
Latest Battlefield 2042 trailer reveals brand new Battlefield Portal Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:45 PM PDT The Battlefield world is large and vast, and what better way is there to collect all of your favorite war games than a dedicated web portal? That’s what Battlefield 2042 is bringing to the table with an all-new Battlefield Portal, releasing alongside the upcoming game. Well, not exactly. You aren’t totally playing your old favorites like Battlefield 3, but you do get to access many of the older maps, weapons, and vehicles in one unified Battlefield experience. Namely, you get to tinker around with many of the games’ content, rules, and maps and create your own specialized experience. It’s a fantastic idea for any Battlefield veteran, allowing you to take control of your Battlefield experience. Not a fan of the new Specialist system in Battlefield 2042? You can still play on the game’s same engine, while revisiting many of the past games for a more nostalgic experience. How to sign up for Battlefield Portal You can sign up for the Battlefield Port...
Humankind receives fourth update and Día de los Muertos event Posted: 03 Nov 2021 04:05 PM PDT Almost three months after its launch, Sega’s strategy game Humankind has already received three updates that substantially tweaked the title’s gameplay systems. And just today, Sega and developer Amplitude Studios dropped Humankind‘s fourth update, dubbed “Fabius Maximus.” Additionally, players can also participate in the Día de los Muertos event, the first of many live events that the developers plan to implement. Needless to say, fans of Humankind will have plenty of new content and gameplay changes to mess around with until the next update comes out. According to a press release, the “Fabius Maximus” update adds three new system features for players to try out. One of these comes in the form of new map settings that allow players to “control the amount of luxury and strategic resources placed on the map.” In addition, the patch implements a “random persona” option that randomizes the opponents that players can face...
Marvel’s Midnight Suns gets delayed into the ‘second half of 2022’ Posted: 03 Nov 2021 02:05 PM PDT A game developer dropped a development update on Twitter today, so you know what that means. Earlier today, XCOM developer Firaxis Games announced that Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been delayed until the “second half of 2022.” The action strategy game was only announced back in August, and at that time was scheduled for a launch in March next year. Today’s delay pushes it into the June to December window. Jake Solomon and Garth DeAngelis of Firaxis revealed the news via Twitter. In a message, they write that the team has been “thrilled” over fan reactions following the game’s announcement. As such, Firaxis has delayed Midnight Suns to take more time to make it “the best game possible.” The additional development going toward the game will be used to polish it up, as well as expand on the story and cinematics. “We know many fans were looking forward to playing the game originally next spring, and this decision did not c...
PlatinumGames’ shoot-’em-up revival Sol Cresta has been delayed Posted: 03 Nov 2021 01:00 PM PDT Sol Cresta, PlatinumGames’ upcoming sequel to the 1980s shoot-’em-ups Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta, has had quite an interesting history. Originally intended as an April Fools joke, fans’ interest in the idea eventually led to PlatinumGames announcing that Sol Cresta will indeed come to modern platforms as an official release. This bit of trivia alone may pique interest in the game, plus the collection of energetic trailers that PlatinumGames posted online. Unfortunately, though, it has indefinitely delayed Sol Cresta from its initial December 2021 release window. Those interested may have to wait quite a while before trying it out. Hideki Kamiya is “Very Sorry” Famed director Hideki Kamiya announced the delay in a recent YouTube live stream, amusingly dubbed the “Very Sorry Stream.” The director cited several factors that contributed to Sol Cresta’s delay, including a change in scope, as well as issues regarding scheduling and ...
