Age of Empires IV gets a new update, improving mini-map and buffing the Spearman Posted: 01 Dec 2021 06:30 AM PST The bundle of anxiety known as Age of Empires IV is getting a brand new update, improving many aspects of the game. The real-time strategy game brought some key changes to the game that is sure to improve the experience for all players, with an improved mini-map and buff to the Spearman class. The update actually comes somewhat earlier than fans might have anticipated, as indicated by the Age of Empires IV roadmap. This isn’t just some basic balance update, however. It’s a massive update that brings over 100 balance changes to different parts of the game, and adjustments to many of the game’s UI issues. These updates are for the fans, as many of these changes were taken from feedback. The developers even distinguish this new build as an update versus a patch, as the developers define an update “as anything with a larger number of changes.” Speaking of UI, players have also been critical of the mini-map. The update addresses the problems with changes to ... |

Aliens: Fireteam Elite to make its way to Xbox Game Pass this December Posted: 30 Nov 2021 04:15 PM PST When the original Alien film came out in 1979, few likely anticipated that it would spawn a massive, multimedia franchise. Regardless of whether or not Alien needed to have so many sequels and spinoff material, the franchise remains here to stay, and this includes the myriad video games based on the property. One of these games, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, already saw a release on August 24 of this year, but now it will arrive on Xbox Game Pass for PC as well. Subscribers can expect to play Aliens: Fireteam Elite on December 14, the same date that its Season 2: Point Defense update drops. For those who need a refresher on what Aliens: Fireteam Elite has to offer, it functions as a co-op, third-person shooter that sees a squad of marines fighting against waves of Xenomorphs. Players can team up and shoot “through four unique campaigns that introduce new storylines to the ‘Alien’ universe.” As players do so, they can customize their characters by picking among six ... |
Indie shooter Clid the Snail is crawling onto PC in December Posted: 30 Nov 2021 03:30 PM PST Crawling to the Steam store later this December is Clid the Snail, a top-down shooter about the world’s grumpiest, laziest, yet deadliest snail. The only way a snail could be dangerous is if you arm it with a gun, and that looks to be the case with Clid. Granted, it’s sort of hard to tell that Clid is actually a snail. And it looks like Clid has two feet to stand on, rather than crawling on its belly like all the other snails. Still, I wouldn’t want that gun pointed on me. You’ll follow Clid, a humanoid snail, as he explores a dark fantasy world to exterminate the slug plague. An arsenal of badass weapons, combined with your abilities as a snail, and no slug or whatever can possibly stand in your way. You aren’t the only bug-like creature who’ll join you, however. Belu is a faithful and talkative firefly, and they’ll accompany you on your journey as you move to eradicate the plague that’s ravaging the land. Creepy crawly Clid th... |
Nvidia reportedly using TSMC N5 node for GeForce RTX 4000 Series Posted: 30 Nov 2021 01:00 PM PST Nvidia is reportedly planning to introduce two new GPU architectures to its lineup of RTX 4000 Series cards. Making use of TSMC's N5 process technology, these new architectures will net significant performance boosts in comparison to the current node used for the RTX 3000 Series lineup. This report comes from DigiTimes. Nvidia uses Samsung's 8LPP fabrication process to make its RTX 3000 Series GPUs. The Ampere architecture is also already making use of TSMC's capabilities with the N7 node to produce the high-performance GA100 GPU for professional applications. But now, Nvidia has reportedly decided to use TSMC's N5 process technology for its lineup of RTX 4000 Series cards, cutting out Samsung's role in the manufacturing process. In terms of logistics and partner agreements, it makes sense for Nvidia to streamline the production of its next GPU lineup somewhat. The dual foundry approach to the gaming and professional lineups makes sense for the company in theory, but there ha... |
