| Lucasfilm Quietly Drops Previously Announced Anti-Cop Film Project Posted: 24 Jan 2022 04:45 AM PST
It was recently reported by Deadline that Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to develop a trilogy of films based on Tomi Adeyemi's bestselling novel Children of Blood and Bone. As Itchy Bacca reported back in late 2020, Lucasfilm had the rights and was developing the anti-police fantasy film project.
Disney decided to let the rights lapse, leading to a bidding war between studios like Universal, Amazon, and Netflix, but Paramount won out. The offer included a seven-figure screenwriting guarantee for Adeyemi, as well as a guaranteed theatrical release. Adeyemi will also be writing the screenplay and executive producing the film, giving her immense creative control over the adaptation of her book.
When Itchy reviewed the Adeyemi's Twitter feed, he found several troubling posts that support the idea that the writer is a cop-hating racist.

He also found that she seems to have a problem with police.

While those are the author's personal feelings, reviews of Tomi's book on Amazon reveal how anti-cop the books actually are.

It's unclear why exactly Lucasfilm let the rights to this project lapse, especially given the considerable interest it has drawn from other interested studios, but I would guess that production delays and other factors related to the Covid-19 pandemic could easily be to blame. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Adeyemi's involvement was a significant factor as well, given that she'll now be writing and executive producing the movie. Regardless, this is one less project in the works at Lucasfilm, and it was a rare non-Star Wars one at that. With Indiana Jones 5 and the Willow series coming there are other non-Star Wars projects in the works from the studio, but it remains (and will always be) mostly focused on its premier franchise. | SDCC Emphasizes Muslim Voices But Won’t Focus on Judeo-Christians Posted: 23 Jan 2022 04:00 PM PST
Religion News Service recently told the San Diego ComiCon’s been paying lip service to potential Islamic propaganda:
Look how the Religion of Peace is what’s being touted at such conventions, but you almost never hear the same when it comes to Judeo-Christian viewpoints for emphasis, nor Buddhism, for that matter. Unless of course, it’s penned by the most questionable leftist writers/artists around.
One can only wonder if the aliens in question are an allusion to “infidels” or “kuffar”, the figure of speech for non-Muslims. On which note, here’s something eyebrow-raising:
Really, and where and what exact colonialism would that be? Might they be talking about the USA? It’s clear they’re not talking about the Islamic conquest of what is now Turkey, in example, or Egypt, where persecution of Copts has been a terrible situation for years. Or even the Turkish invasion of northern Cyprus in 1974. And despite the claim of “certain acceptability”, the showbiz industry’s long caved, and bad as it is they’re whitewashing Islam now, it’s not like it never happened before.
And here, we get a sad sign of where the SDCC could be going, while pro-Israeli stuff is rarely ever heard of, if at all. Not to mention how sad it is to learn Burton, one of the most significant actors on The Next Generation would be fine with this. But then, I’ve long been aware how far to the left a lot of former Trek performers turned out to be, with one of the most prominent being the former Capt. Picard himself, Patrick Stewart. And it’s honestly depressing. Since they mentioned the Chronicles of Narnia, this reminds me of the past dozen years, when actor Liam Neeson virtue-signaled, telling everybody Aslan the lion wasn’t just simply a metaphor for Christ, but for Mohammed, at the time a movie adaptation was made:
And he was. What Neeson said was:
How strange people like him never want to draw comparisons to Judaism openly. Otherwise, he would’ve made some kind of reference to say, biblical Joseph, Moses, or Bar Kochva, or any other Israelite who might make an ideal choice. More importantly, he would’ve studied those parts of history. In any case, the backlash included somebody close to Lewis:
See, that’s practically what’s become the problem in the years since. The RNS article is another. And who knows, their interviewees probably want to insult the memory of Lewis in the process of what they’re setting out to do at SDCC, which has just pretty much confirmed they’re becoming more politicized than ever. No wonder I’m glad I was never able to travel to California to attend such conventions; it’s not just that they marginalized comics proper, but now, they’re injecting political correctness as well. Which doesn’t bode well for a medium originally founded largely by Jews in the USA.

| Actress Simona Mangiante Co-Creating Spy Novel Without the “Wokeness” Posted: 23 Jan 2022 01:10 PM PST
No one seems to understand how to craft a female spy story. At least, no one in Hollywood and no one in legacy entertainment. So I'm giving it a shot. I'm working with actress and fashion designer Simona Mangiante Papadopolous on creating a new female spy for a forthcoming novel. And there's a way you can help support this project—and it isn't through crowdfunding.
Simona and I are at the early stages of writing the novel. We don't have a whole lot written yet but we have it fully outlined. Here's a concise summary of it.
When a private military company needs people to perform certain clandestine or covert work, it tasks its assets hidden under cover employment at a resort to do the job. And the latest job Olympia and her partner receive is to figure out who is stealing cutting-edge AI technology from a company in Europe. To make things worse, the company believes it is more than just thievery—it believes it is espionage and that the person is selling it to the Chinese. Olympia thinks it will be a simple enough mission, but when she gets in country she discovers there is more going on than initially thought. Will she be able to unravel what is happening? And will she be able to stop a disaster from unfolding before it's too late? And to top it all off, will her partner still just be her partner at the end, or will it move into something else . . . if they both survive?
As you probably can guess, Olympia is going to be in some tight situations. But don't expect her to be knocking out large men, beating up people left and right in general, or humiliating her male partner. Instead, she'll rely on stealth, wit, and, when appropriate, the equalizer known as a firearm. And she'll also rely on help from others. In other words, she won't be a Strong Female Character.
And to give you an even better idea of what we're doing, we've also commissioned promotional artwork by José Cano (above). Just why is Olympia wearing a corset while holding a pistol? Well, it actually ties into the plot. (The character is, after all, a spy.)
Writing the novel has been fun. And if you like what you see—the outline and the artwork—there's a way you can help. No, not through crowdfunding, but through checking out my previous work. Seriously, it's a great way to help offset expenses. And unlike crowdfunding, when you purchase a book, you get it immediately. No promises of future delivery—you get the story right then and there. Again, it will help a lot if you purchase one or more of my books. (And don't forget to leave a review.)
So stay tuned for more on the novel as it progresses. Hopefully I'll be able to put up more posts here at Bleeding Fool about it. And be sureto follow Simona on Twitter and Instagram too. And check out her clothing line over at Agape by Simona.

| Godzilla & Kaiju Monster TV Series in the Works for Apple TV+ Posted: 23 Jan 2022 10:15 AM PST
The big-screen world of Godzilla and Legendary's Monsterverse is getting the small-screen treatment.
Apple TV+ has partnered with Legendary for a new original live-action show based on the creatures and the mysterious monster-tracking organization seen in the popular films, THR reports.
Hailing from Legendary Television, the show will be executive produced by Chris Black, the sci-fi veteran behind Star Trek Enterprise and Robert Kirkman series Outcast, and Matt Fraction, best known for his award-winning comic book work such as Marvel Comics' Hawkeye. The two will act as the show's co-creators, with Black as the showrunner.
Also executive producing are Safehouse Pictures' Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell as well as Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita of Toho Co. Ltd. Toho is the owner of Godzilla and other ancillary characters.
Per Apple, which made the announcement, the series is "following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real," and will explore "one family's journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch." | Wallace and Gromit Return: BBC & Netflix to Air New Animated Feature Posted: 23 Jan 2022 07:40 AM PST
Wallace and Gromit are returning to screens for the first time in more than 15 years, with the BBC and Netflix snapping up Aardman's latest animation.
The as-yet-untitled film will air in 2024, is creator Nick Park's first Wallace and Gromit outing since 2008's Oscar-nominated A Matter of Loaf and Death and will be the sixth to feature the lovable man and dog partnership across almost 35 years.
The BBC will take UK rights and Netflix will air in all other territories.
Tapping into modern day fears over automation, the film will focus on Gromit's concern that Wallace has become over-dependent on his inventions, which proves justified when Wallace invents a "smart gnome" that seems to develop a mind of its own. As events spiral out of control, it falls to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces or Wallace may never be able to invent again.
