| Will HBO Max Be Taking Over The CW’s Arrowverse Shows? Posted: 20 Feb 2022 12:35 PM PST The landscape of television is changing on basically a constant basis, as the viewing habits of audiences consistently continue to evolve.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that one mainstay of linear network television, The CW, might be sold by WarnerMedia and Paramount Global, with Nextstar Media Group Inc. being “among the suitors” who might ultimately purchase it. Even as both of the current parent companies could remain minority owners and receive “commitments to be the primary program suppliers for the network,” some have wondered how this acquisition could affect The CW’s current crop of programming.
In a recent interview, HBO and HBO Max chief Casey Bloys was asked if some of The CW’s shows could potentially move to HBO Max if the situation required it. According to Bloys, there’s no way of knowing in the current situation, but the crop of CW shows that already stream past seasons on HBO Max are “very valuable.”
“We’ll see what happens,” Bloys explained. “I don’t know, in that sale, what they’re looking to do or not do but those shows do really well when they come to HBO Max in a window deal. They’re really well done and valuable shows to us. I’m not involved in the Nexstar or The CW negotiations or anything like that so I don’t really know but generally speaking, the shows that Greg does for The CW are very valuable and perform well on HBO Max.”
While a number of The CW’s recent shows are part of an existing secondary streaming deal with Netflix, the network’s originals have found their way to HBO Max since the 2019-2020 season. This means that fans can already stream past seasons of Batwoman, Nancy Drew, DC’s Stargirl, Superman & Lois, Walker, and Kung Fu on the service, with current freshman shows like Naomi and 4400 expected to follow suit.

| Watch: The Boys: Diabolical Trailer Reveals Varied Styles & All-Star Cast Posted: 20 Feb 2022 10:25 AM PST
Amazon has released a trailer for their new Prime Video animated series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
Set in the world of the hit comic book adaptation The Boys, the animated anthology series is reportedly serving as a canon tie-in to the live-action series about to enter its third season on the streaming platform. An all-star cast of writers, producers, and voice actors are on board, with Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer and Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland and Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler are among the big names who have a hand in creating the eight-episode series, which debuts on the platform next month.
Prime Video also revealed the following promo for “I’m Your Pusher” on their social media account.
According to CBR, each “irreverent and emotionally shocking” episode of Diabolical is a standalone short film animated in a different style, with “I’m Your Pusher” taking its visual cues directly from Robertson’s work on the original comic. Ennis wrote the episode, which is directed by Giancarlo Volpe.
The Boys Presents: Diabolical premieres Friday, March 4 on Prime Video. The animated series will run for a total of eight episodes. The Boys Season 3 will then premiere on Friday, June 3.

| FX Chief Promises Big Surprises, but No ‘Ripley’ in Aliens TV Series Posted: 20 Feb 2022 07:40 AM PST
FX Chief John Landgraf provided an update at the network's TCA winter tour panel today on Noah Hawley's Alien series. "There are some big surprises in store for the audience," exclaimed the network boss. But when asked by Deadline, he said Sigourney Weaver's Ripley won't be starring.
"Alien takes place before Ripley. It's the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth," said Landgraf. "So, it takes place on our planet. Right near the end of this century we're in — so 70-odd years from now."
He added, "Ripley won't be a part of it or any of the other characters of Alien other than the alien itself."
Despite five scripts already being in for Alien, and Fargo only one, Hawley will shoot the latter series first as it needs to go into production this winter given its Midwest setting. The post FX Chief Promises Big Surprises, but No ‘Ripley’ in Aliens TV Series appeared first on Bleeding Fool. |
| John Cena’s Peacemaker Just Got Renewed for Season 2 Posted: 20 Feb 2022 05:25 AM PST ![]() The DC Comics adaptation "Peacemaker" has been renewed for Season 2 on HBO Max, executive producer James Gunn and star John Cena announced on Wednesday.
The announcement comes the day before the Season 1 finale of the show, which continues the story of Cena's titular costume vigilante from Gunn's 2021 feature film "The Suicide Squad." Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee played the members of the motley crew of operatives tasked to help Peacemaker repel an alien invasion.
Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the first season and directed five, along with Jody HIll, Rosemary Rodriguez and Brad Anderson, who each directed one. Gunn, Peter Safran and Matt Miller executive produced, with Cena as co-executive producer and Stacy Littlejohn as consulting producer.
It is difficult to parse just how popular "Peacemaker" has been during its eight-episode run — HBO Max does not release viewership data and Nielsen doesn't yet measure HBO Max — but there have been some tentative signs that the show has been a major hit for the streamer. Parrot Analytics reported that the show was 69.5 times more in demand than the average series, according to Business Insider. And the show cracked Reelgood's Top 10 streaming titles twice in January.
