Conservative Creatives: Crafting Films that Effectively Counter the Left

Posted: 31 Mar 2022 03:15 PM PDT

A reader on Twitter asked:

“what would you suggest a conservative creative do if he wanted to write films instead of novels?”

Starting a parallel cinema scene is becoming an ever-more feasible option for conservatives and dissidents. It's easier and cheaper than ever to make your own movie. An enterprising director could crowdfund a slick little indie film. Professional grade editing software; even high-end hardware like a RED cam, is within a guerrilla production's budget.

The real question is how to craft movies that effectively counter the Cult's message.

Some will argue that right-wing message fic is no different than left-wing message fic, and it's film makers' duty to simply tell a fun story.

This objection misses the point because it assumes that the Death Cult spread its message through heavy-handed propagandizing. That's just the frog finally noticing the water is boiling. Hollywood has been a Death Cult vector since at least the late 60s, yet most people are only being turned off now.

The second mistake that thwarts counterculture art is more common among Conservatives. They likewise start from the false premise that overt message fic is how the Cult delivers its propaganda. Then they rush straight into the equal but opposite error of deliberately making their own message fic.

Both camps fail to understand how the enemy indoctrinated multiple generations without anyone noticing till it was too late. Their current overt skinsuiting is just a victory lap. Hollywood reached this point by using subtle storytelling techniques to erode audiences' defenses.

To understand this method, one need only understand the archetypal trope of the protagonist. This is the character who drives the story by setting out on a quest to achieve a concrete goal against opposition.

Hollywood learned through long trial and error to make the protagonist as likeable and relatable to audiences as possible. The idea is to make audiences identify with the hero.

Nowadays, the studios have turned this approach on its head. The contemporary movie protagonist is an utterly inhuman Mary Sue with no compelling reason to pursue a goal since she's already said to be perfect. Instead, she uses her screen time to deliver a series of lectures on Death Cult pieties.

Again, that is not the conditioning. That is a humiliation ritual meant to rub the remaining fans' noses in it.

The conditioning came before that. And the way it happened was by Hollywood churning out decades of movies wherein heroes whom audiences identified with achieved their goals by acting according to the Death Cult's morals.

That point bears repeating. To bring movie audiences around to your way of thinking, show characters they like being successful by acting in line with your moral standard.

Contrary to what anti-message fic purists say, this method does not have to involve hamfisted preaching. In fact, the subtler the delivery is, the better.

Ironically, the last movies to even halfway subtly counter the Death Cult's conditioning were 80s slasher flicks. Contemporary feminist types love to gripe about how anybody who fornicated or lit up a joint received a death sentence, while only the virginal girl survived.

The slasher genre died out in the early 90s. If you look at teen sex and drug use statistics, both declined from their peak in 1980 and only started rising again in the 90s. That's not to give all the credit for the reduction in degeneracy to slasher flicks, but it's undeniable that those movies exerted considerable influence on the youth culture of the time.

To renew the culture, tell stories with appealing heroes who win using Christian moral principles.

Watch: “Top Gun: Maverick” Drops an All-New Trailer

Posted: 31 Mar 2022 01:15 PM PDT

The wait for Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick has been very long, but the release is finally within sight. A new trailer has been released today, and the newest footage turned our excitement levels up even higher for this movie. Tom Cruise, back as the one and only Maverick, is chasing all sorts of adventures in the sky once again.

Maverick is requested by former rival Tom "Iceman" Kazansky to return to the Navy to lead a new group of pilots. However, Maverick does not want to stand on the sidelines. He wants in on all the action. Maverick crosses paths with Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (a.k.a. Rooster), played by Miles Teller, the son of Maverick's late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw (a.k.a. Goose). "My dad believed in you. I'm not going to make the same mistake," Rooster says to Maverick's face in the trailer.

More than 30 years after serving as one of the Navy's top aviators, Maverick is still pushing the envelope as a test pilot and going head-to-head with authority. He soon finds himself training a crew of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission. This new mission is unlike anything any of them have ever seen, including Maverick.

Maybe the studio took the extra time with these delays to correct the blatant Chinese influence which persuaded the studio to remove the Japanese and Taiwanese patches from Maverick's jacket as seen in the first trailer

We’ll see when Top Gun: Maverick's drops May 27.

Superhero Back Issues are Hot; What are Some Valuable Indie Comics?

Posted: 31 Mar 2022 06:15 AM PDT

ABC station KOLO-8 published yet another article about the speculator market (reporting from Nevada), and what sells most on it:

To the untrained eye, an "Avengers" comic book looks no different than the tens of thousands of comic books at the "Comic Kingdom" in Reno.

The only difference, the "Avengers" comic book is worth $5,000. Most comic books in the bins are $1.99. To comic book experts there are other distinctions. For one, it's the first "Avengers" comic book ever made.

And it has other attributes.

"Right. The most valuable ones are the superhero ones," says Megan Laux, owner of Comic Kingdom. The "Avengers" comic book is also in good condition, and that too makes a difference.

This made me think of something. What about many of the indie comics produced since the mid-70s or the 80s? What about say, early Nexus and Badger issues, which could be about 40 years old at this point? Don’t they have any value on the market?

Even then, let’s not forget the real value should be in reading the items in question, not “slabbing” them away in plastic casings just so they’ll be hung on a wall, or worse, locked away in a vault where nobody’ll see them at all. As I may have mentioned before, this is exactly why the whole pamphlet format must be done away with – it’s resulting in a whole wobbly market that even today results in so many deluded people “investing” in material that may never be worth huge sums, long after the speculator market first plummeted in the mid-90s.

Megan says comic book investing is not for the casual investor. Two years ago, she says customers impacted by COVID, looking for a couple of extra bucks brought in comic books to see what they were worth. Now she says there are those who are looking to find the "Holy Grail" of comic books–something that will appreciate–greatly appreciate.

Of course it’s not for casual buyers. But it’s not something even wealthier people should be encouraged to invest in at all costs, if it turns out what they buy won’t make much within their lifetimes. That’s precisely why casual consumers shouldn’t be fooled, if they don’t have much money, and think this the ticket to getting rich real quick. Because sadly, it won’t be.

There’s also more news about speculator auctions on Toronto’s CP24/the AP Wire, telling of an ancient but well-preserved copy of Marvel Comics #1 from 1939 that sold for $2.3 million:

The buyer’s name has not been disclosed. He is "an extremely passionate comic book collector and investor" who also collects other items, [Vincent] Zurzolo said.

Published in 1939, Marvel Comics #1 introduced characters including Sub-Mariner and the original Human Torch, a precursor of the character of the same name that was later a member of Marvel’s Fantastic Four. The book launched what became the Marvel universe of comics, movies, TV shows and video games.

[…] The Marvel universe would eventually include such characters as Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, the Avengers, Iron Man, Daredevil and the Hulk, often known on-screen as the Incredible Hulk.

Oh, what’s this, somebody giving signs they don’t know “Incredible” was an adjective on almost every issue of the Hulk’s solo book up to the turn of the century? Figures. It wasn’t just “on-screen” the jade giant was known by the adjective. Which makes this article quite laughable.

"Without this comic book being made, who knows? Maybe none of that happens," Zurzolo said. "Maybe the name `Marvel Comics’ resonated so much with people, in some way, that that’s what helped to birth all these other things."

I think a better question would be why all these movies had to be made, if it turned out they’d be made at the zygote’s expense? A vast majority of USA moviegoers refuse to have anything to do with this illustrated medium, and the same goes for animation. So why do we keep hearing that this pop culture is widely accepted today? Even RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons failed to be accepted in the same way, and the PC tampering it’s undergone in past years under SJWs at Wizards of the Coast hasn’t changed anything. As a result, what good is it to see all these comics being adapted to Hollywood in live action? Especially considering they too have undergone considerable PC alterations of recent, and injection of divisive politics? I’m sorry, but this is just not helping to improve perceptions a single bit. Nor does speculator purchase avail in this regard.

Bruce Willis is Retiring from Acting After Aphasia Diagnosis

Posted: 31 Mar 2022 04:45 AM PDT

After being diagnosed with aphasia, Hollywood great Bruce Willis is “stepping away” from acting. Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore made the news on her Instagram account, and it was signed by Moore, Willis’ daughters, and the star’s current wife, Emma Heming.

In the announcement, Willis’ family verified reports that an aphasia diagnosis would cause him to retire from performing. The condition affects the area of the brain that processes language, producing cognitive problems such as difficulty speaking and understanding what others are saying. That’s a heartbreaking diagnosis for such a well-known actor, and it unfortunately necessitates Willis’ resignation from his acting career in order for him to focus on his health.

Willis’ family issued the following statement:

"To Bruce's amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that."

According to NIH.gov, aphasia is a disorder that results from damage to portions of the brain that are responsible for language.

For most people, these areas are on the left side of the brain. Aphasia usually occurs suddenly, often following a stroke or head injury, but it may also develop slowly, as the result of a brain tumor or a progressive neurological disease. The disorder impairs the expression and understanding of language as well as reading and writing. Aphasia may co-occur with speech disorders, such as dysarthria or apraxia of speech, which also result from brain damage.

"I'm very saddened by this news," Larry Gordon, producer of Die Hard and its 1990 sequel, told The Hollywood Reporter. "Bruce is a good friend and was fantastic to work with on Die Hard 1 and 2. They couldn't be harder films for an actor to make and survive. He is the consummate pro and a gutsy guy."

Willis has starred in such blockbusters as The Fifth Element (1997), Armageddon (1998) and The Sixth Sense (1999). Willis' other classics include The Last Boy Scout (1991), Death Becomes Her (1992) Pulp Fiction (1994) and 12 Monkeys (1995). In recent years, Willis largely starred in lower-budget films, though he did appear in Glass (2019), M. Night Shyamalan's high-profile sequel to Unbreakable. In 2018, he was on the hot seat for The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis. At the hilarious event, the actor took comedy jabs as well as he gave them.

While we hope his health conditions quickly improve, our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Willis’ family, friends, and loved ones at this time with best wishes for a healthy recovery during his well deserved retirement.
