Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot’ Remake Getting a Theatrical Release Posted: 24 Apr 2022 03:25 PM PDT   A new adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot has been in the works for quite some time, with studio Warner Bros. finally confirming that the film will be landing in theaters this fall.   The release date itself isn’t actually new, as its release was announced last year, but given the number of changes and updates various projects have earned, it will surely come as a relief to fans that the project hasn’t been postponed.   Additionally, this latest information confirms that the film is still slated for a theatrical release as opposed to a debut on HBO Max. Salem’s Lot currently touts a September 9th release.   Stephen King’s website describes the story, “Author Ben Mears returns to ‘Salem’s Lot to write a book about a house that has haunted him since childhood only to find his isolated hometown infested with vampires. While the vampires claim more victims, Mears convinces a small group of believers to combat the undead.”   The film stars Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Alfre Woodard, Bill Camp, John Benjamin Hickey, Nicholas Crovetti, Jordan Preston Carter, William Sadler, Spencer Treat Clark, Cade Woodward, Debra Christofferson, and Pilou Asbaek. Netflix Cancels Animated Adaptation of Jeff Smith’s ‘Bone’ Comic Posted: 24 Apr 2022 01:15 PM PDT   The woke TV streaming channel’s not going ahead with a planned cartoon based on Jeff Smith’s Bone, according to ComicBook:   Netflix’s long-gestating adaptation of Jeff Smith’s Bone has apparently been scrapped. The news came courtesy of a new report from The Wrap, which breaks down the recent changes going on behind the scenes at Netflix Animation‘s Kids & Family division. In particular, it reveals that “several high-profile projects have been unceremoniously canceled” at the streamer, with Bone being among them. The project was first optioned by Netflix in 2019, with the goal of it being adapted into an animated series. In addition to Bone, Netflix’s animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Twits is reportedly being retooled into a feature film, as well as Lauren Faust’s Toil and Trouble. The trade site’s article requires registration to read in full, but from what I could tell, they do say Netflix’s stock tumbled 30 percent of recent, and that’s got to be saying something. Considering how woke Netflix has been for a number of years now, I think it’s a blessing that what was a well regarded comic won’t be seeing an adaptation from such a channel, because it could fall victim to much of the same political correctness as almost anything on the channel. So this is not a loss, but rather, decidedly good news. Production Pushed Back for Disney’s ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Posted: 24 Apr 2022 10:25 AM PDT Among the Star Wars projects that Disney+ still has planned is Star Wars: The Acolyte, a show that is being described as “a martial arts-influenced mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”     The series is being showrun by Russian Doll and Sleeping With Other People alum Leslye Headland, who was a former assistant to Harvey Weinstein and could be “problematic” for the studio. Many fans were disappointed to learn she had never seen a Star Wars movie before being hired for the job.   It was also announced earlier this year that The Hunger Games‘ Amandla Stenberg is in talks for the lead role.     A new report potentially shines even more light on the series — both when it’s filming, and what its supporting cast could look like, but the premise is still pretty vague, as were previous reports on the show, which we know is expected to have heavy “queer representation“.    According to the report from The Illuminerdi, The Acolyte is now expected to begin production in October of 2022, and wrap by May of 2023. While this is much later than fans had expected the series to start filming, it at least provides an inkling of when other elements of the series could come together.   In terms of the supporting cast, the report claims that The Acolyte is seeking a Caucasian man in his 50s to play “Paul’, who will be a series regular on the show and will seemingly only be part of it for one season.
