The Hunger Games Prequel Announced At CinemaCon Posted: 28 Apr 2022 09:18 PM PDT The Hunger Games prequel now has a release date. Lionsgate today revealed at the end of their CinemaCon presentation that The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a Hunger Games prequel, officially reaches theaters on November 17, 2023. The original movies aka sequels, Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part One, and Mockingjay Part Two, all debuted in the pre-Thanksgiving period. It seems the Hunger Games prequel is coming sooner than we might expect. Collins originally planned to write only three novels, but she later expanded the world of Panem with a prequel novel. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, scheduled for release in 2020, follows a youthful Coriolanus Snow (played in the original movies by Donald Sutherland), the main antagonist of The Hunger Games films. In 2017, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer showed a desire for the Hunger Games spinoffs for the first time. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake declared in 2019 that the corporation was collaborating with Collins on the adaptation of the then-unreleased Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The movie adaptation's ready to begin production in April 2020, one month prior to the book’s official launch. Source: Lionsgate Who is Working In The Prequel? Francis Lawrence, the director of Catching Fire, Mockingjay: Part 1, and Mockingjay: Part 2, returns to direct The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Michael Arndt wrote the prequel film based on a story modification by Collins. Collins also co-produces the film with Nina Jacobson who produced the original Hunger Games adaptations. Another individual involved in the production is Brad Simpson. While no casting knowledge is out at this time, Variety reported that The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is in the works. Suzanne Collins and Tim Palen work as EPs too. The prequel to the massively popular franchise takes place years before the original films. We see the 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, who would rise to become Panem’s tyrant. When the young Snow becomes a mentor to Lucy Gray Baird, the tribute from lowly District 12, he seizes the opportunity for a transformation of circumstance. DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World 3 and Paramount’s John Krasinski-directed Ryan Reynolds film are competitions the prequel Hunger Games movie has to beat if are both set to open on November 17 of next year. Judging from the huge fandom and how the original movies did, we expect the prequel to do well, regardless. Jennifer Lawrence stars as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson is Peeta Mellark. Liam Hemsworth is Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson is Haymitch Abernathy, and Elizabeth Banks is Effie Trinket. Other big names present in the franchise are Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman and Donald Sutherland as President Snow. We know that the first movies broke box office records. The Hunger Games (2012) broke records for the best opening day and weekend for a non-sequel motion picture. Catching Fire (2013) set a new record for the greatest November launch weekend. Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) had the year’s biggest opening day and weekend. After the incredible ending of the first season, it left us with many questions. One was what happens to Sylvie at the end of time now that He Who Remains is gone. Another is how Loki fairs in this new reality where the TVA is ruled by Kang the Conqueror. Tom Hiddleston gave us some answers but left a lot for us to speculate about regarding the story for season 2. New Jurassic World Dominion Trailer Reveals One Last Adventure Posted: 28 Apr 2022 04:23 PM PDT A new Jurassic World Dominion trailer was released today. This film will put an end to the whole story. The new trailer shows the characters from the Jurassic World saga, plus other familiar faces that we have not seen in this franchise for a long time.  In the trailer, we see that the situation changes and that humans adapt to living among dinosaurs. However, people of power want to take advantage of this to obtain benefits, and as always, they complicate things. That makes the scenario chaotic, and the confrontation to determine the dominant species on the planet begins. Jurassic World Dominion will be the most extended production ever created in the franchise, including Jurassic Park and Jurassic World: Evolution. This new trailer has left us with an opener, quite a good one; let’s see what else it has for us.       New Jurassic World Dominion Trailer In the new trailer, we see our Jurassic World heroes in a small cabin, isolated, living in the wild. They coexist with the velociraptor Blue, who surprisingly has a baby. In other words, the dinosaurs have once again found a way to reproduce. Then, we see how a group kidnaps Blue’s daughter to use her DNA to control the dinosaurs, as in the previous movie. However, as always, the dinosaurs do not allow themselves to be dominated and cause chaos worldwide. That includes land, air, sea, and in every possible scenario. The film stars are fighting all kinds of dinosaurs, including a genetically created one, which makes the T-Rex look pretty harmless. What will be the outcome of this new adventure? Who will win in this fight between dinosaurs and humans? Well, we’ll have to wait for the premiere to find out. Details From the Cast and the Movie In the movie, we can see the familiar characters from Jurassic World. However, we have several inclusions of new characters in this trilogy who are well-known in this franchise. We are referring to Drs. Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and Ellie Sattler. Yes, the characters from Jurassic Park will also appear in this film for a nostalgic touch. The film will take place in different scenarios, showing how dinosaurs reproduce and how their fight against man begins. We will also see the performances of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and DeWanda Wise as the main characters of this movie. Along with them, performances by Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Campbell Scott, BD Wong, Omar Sy, and Mamoudou Athie. Umbrella Academy Comic Returns for Free Comic Book Day Posted: 28 Apr 2022 11:29 AM PDT Fans of the Umbrella Academy comic will only have to wait a little longer. Dark Horse Comic is releasing a surprise gift as part of their Free Comic Book Day celebrations. This free present comes thanks to illustrator Gabriel Bá and others. Unfortunately, neither Dark Horse nor Gabriel Bá revealed any further details. The Hargreeves family’s further adventures remain a mystery. We don’t know anything about the plot. The official Twitter account for the Umbrella Academy comic broke the exciting news. Gerard Way created the series in 2007, alongside illustrator Gabriel Bá. It’s not clear if the new gift is written by Way as well. However, we can presume that it probably is. The History of the Umbrella Academy Comic The Umbrella Academy comic series is no stranger to Free Comic Book Day gifts. In 2007, Dark Horse gave a re-release of a preview story to the series as a gift. This was titled “…But the Past Ain’t Through With You.” This present originally appeared on the Dark Website before the first issue was out. Dark Horse has been in control of the series since its first release. The first edition of the Umbrella Academy comic was titled “The Umbrella Academy: Apocalpyse Suite.” Fans soon fell in love with the series. So, it comes as no surprise that the series won an Eisner Award the following year. Naturally, a sequel series, titled “The Umbrella Academy: Dallas,” came out in 2008. Unfortunately, fans had to wait a little longer for the next edition in the series. It was just under ten years before anything came out! The third volume, titled The Hotel Academy: Hotel Oblivion, did not release until 2018. In the meantime, Dark Horse Comics released a short story called “Anywhere But Here” on their MySpace. The Next Edition? Thankfully, Gerard Way announced the next issue of the Umbrella Academy comic series back in 2020. It will be titled “The Umbrella Academy: Sparrow Academy.” Sadly, not much other news has come out about the series since. We are still eagerly awaiting a release date. Hopefully, the latest Free Comic Book Day gift of the Umbrella Academy comic will give us some more news. It’s possible that this new comic will be part of a spin-off. After all, Dark Horse Comics has already released a spin-off. This was called Tales from the Umbrella Academy. This included a miniseries called You Look Like Death. It also had a one-shot title, “Hazel and Cha-Cha Save Christmas.” So, this free gift may be a continuation of this, or it could be something else entirely. The Umbrella Academy Comic Comes to Screen However, the new Umbrella Academy TV series is one of the reasons for the delay. The first series of the Netflix adaptation came out in 2019. It was a hit with fans all over the world. So, Netflix naturally followed this with a second series in 2020. The newest season is set to release on June 22nd of this year. This came following delays due to the COVID pandemic. This latest season will focus on the Hargreeves family meeting the spooky Sparrow Academy. So, fans can expect a lot of drama in the process! The official synopsis for the latest series teases “a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone's concerns.” It also mentions “an unidentified destructive entity” that causes danger. Whatever happens, we can expect plenty of hijinks from the Hargreeves family. This will be on paper and on-screen. You can catch the latest edition of the Umbrella Academy comic on May 7th. It seems like the feud between Selling Sunset stars Chrishell Stause and Christine Quinn is nowhere close to ending after Quinn was accused of being dishonest to everyone on why she missed the show’s reunion. It would be recalled that the actress’s rep had informed page six on Tuesday that her boss had tested positive for Covid-19, citing it as the reason why she missed the reunion taping for fear of spreading the disease to the cast and crew. Selling Sunset: The Reunion NETFLIX Chrishell has now sensationally come out to accuse Christine of lying about skipping the show by tweeting a GIF of TV host Maury Povich uttering his signature line ” The lie detector test has determined that was a lie”. The 33 year old actress was recently at the center of a lot of drama on the hit Netflix series after falling out with several cast members, Chrishell included. That might have put her in a really tough spot. This would explain why she opted out of gracing the reunion. Chrishell’s assumption garnered different responses with some fans in agreement with her and some others with a different view.  One of the fans tweeted “She should not be allowed to film future shows. End of the story”. Another said “That Covid test is like the 11 fakes thing on that chick” Among those who didn’t agree with the assumption was a fan who tweeted a GiF from “Law & Order: SVU” which read “How about we don’t jump to conclusions?” She pointed out the possibility of Quinn’s symptoms starting even before the positive test result.  Selling Sunset stars Chrishell Stause and Christine Quinn Feud The pair have had a long line of issues between each other for a long time. From once being cordial with each other, the relationship has a taken a toll for the worse. Their feud dates back to the finale of season 1. Christine labelled Chrishell “Fake” for questioning the authenticity of co-star Mary Fitzgerald’s relationship with Romain Bonnet. He has gone on to become Mary’s husband. Christine had called Chrishell “Shady and crazy” leading to Stause blocking her on all social media platforms. Chrishell most recently labelled Christine as someone that “really enjoys the drama” She also mentioned that they are probably not going to hang out anytime soon. The pair have admirably not allowed their personal issues to come between their professionalism during their time on Selling Sunset. It is safe to say they maintain a cordial work relationship although they are no longer friends. Christine has been mute on both Chrishell”s tweet and the allegations of intentionally missing the reunion. It is possible that she doesn’t consider it worth replying to due to their not so cordial relationship. Super Nintendo World is Coming to Hollywood with Piranha Plants Posted: 28 Apr 2022 08:43 AM PDT After the huge success of its first theme park in Osaka Japan, Nintendo announced that it would open Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. The latest video by Ethan Becker, a passionate theme park fan (thanks Theme Park Tribune!). It seems like the development of this new attraction is progressing well. You can see the completed pyramids in the desert area. But, perhaps, more importantly, you can see two Piranha plants, currently wrapped up to protect them. Although the park looks very similar to Japan’s, some aspects of the Hollywood theme park, such as the additions of the pyramids, will make it stand out from Osaka. There is still some time before the park is complete, but Nintendo has set a “2023” opening window for customers. Unconfirmed rumors are circulating on Universal fan forums. Officially, Super Nintendo World will only have the Mario Kart attraction when they open in 2023. There will be no interactive elements throughout. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sits on top of the other videogame adaptations in the United States. But, this is still not enough to make it the most popular movie of all time. It’s evident that the film is still playing in theaters and that audiences will continue to increase. Further, the Box Office Mojo data shows that Sonic the Hedgehog has a domestic box office of $147.069,418. In contrast, the original Sonic the Hedgehog had a total of $146.066,470. This is due to the COVID-19 virus, which saw the original movie released right at the end and the sequel released while it is still happening. There’s still a lot of work to do before Sonic the Hedgehog could surpass the $439,000,000 worldwide box office total of Warcraft. But, reigning supreme here in the United States was no small feat. And Ben Schwartz, the Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor, was happy to celebrate. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently playing in theaters The sequel features the return of the main actors Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, who voices the hedgehog, and Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Robotnik, the iconic villain and scientist of the franchise. When it comes to her role as a judge on American Idol, Katy Perry has proved over and over again that she can be humorous, even when she’s the subject of the joke herself. The 37 years old singer-songwriter, has hilariously addressed the issue of a contestant who sang John Mayer, her ex-boyfriend’s song in the Idols. This funny moment comes after the star split her pants on national television not long ago. Katy Perry gave a sarcastic comment when Noah Thompson, an American Idol candidate, sang "Heartbreak Warfare" by Mayer. As a judge in the competition, Katy advised Thompson to check information about her on Wikipedia to avoid such a situation in the future. The 37 years old songwriter said, "I feel like maybe you should Wikipedia me."  The participant had no clue that she used to be in a relationship with John Mayer, which resulted in a very awkward situation!
