Starfield beta could decide if the space RPG releases on time Posted: 28 Apr 2022 05:21 AM PDT Bethesda is set to hold a Starfield beta test this summer, but it might have to leave some things on the cutting room floor for a chance to release the space RPG on time. According to an employee, the game has "an overabundance of content" that's "probably too much" and likely needs trimming back if the developers want to avoid delaying until 2023. In a now-deleted post on ResetEra that's since been immortalised on Imgur, user Hevy008 not only reveals that Bethesda might be drowning in the amount of content planned for the upcoming PC game, but that manual space flight is also reportedly on the cards. They don't paint a flattering picture of the mechanic, stating that "flying is terrible" at its current stage of development, but this would separate it from other sci-fi RPG games in recent years if it makes it into the final release. It's worth taking this information with a pinch of salt until Bethesda reveals more than just 8 seconds of new Starfield gameplay, but Hevy008 was a verified character artist on the forum before they deleted their account. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has also corroborates that they are who they say they are, although he can't currently confirm the details they've shared. The best Vampire Survivors build Posted: 28 Apr 2022 04:51 AM PDT There's a lot that goes into making the best Vampire Survivors build. In every run in the roguelike game, you defeat hordes of enemies, amassing new weapons and items to help you survive until the end. You can upgrade your items or take new ones at regular intervals, which helps you bolster your build each time you level up. However, in the heat of the moment, it can be hard to know which items give you the best buffs and which combos you should stack together. When making the best Vampire Survivors build, you need to make two key decisions: which of the best Vampire Survivor characters to play as and which powerful Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions you want to aim for as you're collecting items. In this guide, we'll focus on weapons and items you should grab to help you reach the time limit and win the run. You have a fair amount of flexibility in finding what you need to make each build, but you only get one free choice of Arcana, so we'll list which one to choose at the start of your run. You do get two more opportunities to acquire additional Arcana, but this is dictated by the ones you didn't pick, so you need to get that first call spot on. |
War Thunder gets a 4K ‘Wind of Change’ update Posted: 28 Apr 2022 04:33 AM PDT War Thunder is one of the best free-to-play multiplayer combat games out there, and has kept fans stocked up with heaps of content since launch in 2013. Players can participate in naval, aerial, or ground-based battles with friends or against strangers, utilising highly accurate texture packs to simulate the frontline experience. Every so often, players are treated to free updates that widen the selection of vehicles even further. Each of these typically includes brand new tech trees that allow players to develop their tactics through the eyes of various countries. This month marks a momentous occasion for War Thunder, which is about to get crystal clear with a 4K update that brings the virtual world ever-closer to reality. Next-gen AMD Radeon GPU may double 6900 XT performance Posted: 28 Apr 2022 04:08 AM PDT As the RDNA 3 release date fast approaches, hardware leakers continue to fan the flames of excitement surrounding the next-generation of AMD Radeon graphics cards, with some absolutely bananas performance expectations to boot. New information has come to light that puts team red's new GPU microarchitecture well-ahead of its predecessor and existing Nvidia competition. According to sources close to Moore's Law Is Dead, AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards built with the RDNA 3 Navi 3 GPU die could boast "+90-130% over the RX 6900 XT in rasterisation performance." However, the YouTuber does caution that there is some disagreement on exact metrics between their sources, so it's perhaps best to place more stock in the lower-end of these claims for now. This kind of performance uplift might make a prospective AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT top dog in the GPU market, and stave Nvidia's ambitions of acquiring the coveted title of the best graphics card with its RTX 4000 series. We won't have to wait too long to find out, as MLID also says that we should expect pixel pushers using the most-powerful RDNA 3 GPU die to launch in Q4 of this year. GTA Online’s weekly update brings back cargo reward boosts Posted: 28 Apr 2022 03:27 AM PDT The GTA Online weekly update is officially here - it's Thursday, after all. While Rockstar Games posts all the official patch notes later into the day, the denizens of Los Santos jump in beforehand when the update goes live to see what's new for themselves. If you're looking to raise some funds, you'll want to get cosy and run special cargo missions as Rockstar has doubled in-game cash and reputation points. If you've been out of the loop, these missions typically involve picking up cargo from a spot on the map and delivering it where it needs to go. These missions are usually done in GTA Online's open-world map, though, so expect some dicey situations unless you're in a solo lobby. If that's not your thing, Rockstar has tripled the rewards on the Sumo (Remix) adversary mode and Road Game versus mode. You've also got double the goodies on client jobs and boosted rewards on bunker sell missions. If you're looking for a new set of wheels, the GTA Online Prize Ride is the Zentorno, which you can nab after finishing in the top three of pursuit races for five days in a row. Meanwhile, the GTA Online podium car is the Euros if you're feeling lucky. RELATED LINKS: GTA 5 mods, GTA 6, Buy GTA V |
Nvidia RTX 4000 – release date, price, spec, and benchmarks Posted: 28 Apr 2022 03:19 AM PDT Nvidia RTX 4000 graphics cards are set to replace the current-gen GeForce RTX 3000 GPUs, and whispers suggest the green team could skip ahead and release an RTX 5000 series. Confusing, right? Well, to help you navigate the convoluted waters of PC gaming, we've compiled everything you need to know about the green team's next-generation tech. As much as the raw performance of team green's RTX GPUs make them attractive to anyone looking to upgrade their gaming PC, it's features like Nvidia Reflex and Nvidia DLSS that elevate the graphics cards above their Intel Arc Alchemist and AMD RDNA 3 competition. RTX 4000 cards will likely come armed with the same technologies, if not even more. However, Nvidia isn't content with simply cornering the desktop GPU market and has its sights set on the cloud too. The company's Nvidia GeForce Now service currently provides up to RTX 3080 levels of performance to all manner of devices, such as low-spec PCs and smartphones (and not-so-smart-phones), via cloud streaming. Team green will undoubtedly update GeForce Now with RTX 4000 graphics cards at some point after their release to the public. Genshin Impact tier list April 2022: the best characters in 2.6 Posted: 28 Apr 2022 03:14 AM PDT Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 48 Genshin Impact characters available, so there's no shortage of candidates for your dream team. But with so many different weapon, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellations upgrades, finding your favourites can be challenging. Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. That being said, if your favourite character is in C tier or below, you may struggle to get past some of the more challenging Spiral Abyss floors. Don't worry too much if your favourite character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds. In general, being on a high tier means that the character is the best Genshin Impact character in their role, is not too difficult to build, and performs well regardless of teammates. Being on a lower tier means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine. Just to note, the characters are not ranked within their own tier, and with that out of the way, let's take a look at our ranking of characters in our Genshin Impact tier list! Captain’s log – The last voyage of Trigon: Space Story Posted: 28 Apr 2022 03:02 AM PDT Procedural generation has done a lot for video game development over the years, providing varied, challenging, and endless gameplay. One of the key benefits of an ever-changing world is the sheer scope of creative freedom that players are afforded from the moment they boot up the game. For readers, writers, and those who love to tell stories - procedural generation of narratives can act as a creative writing prompt for community-created content, expanding the reach of the game even further. Trigon: Space Story is a beautifully detailed strategy roguelike that takes place in a far-off future, and is a perfect example of this facilitation of divergent storytelling. The procedurally-generated universe unfolds in every direction, allowing players to indulge their creativity and decide what sort of Captain they wish to be. Faced with enemies, allies, quests, items, and the perils of space, every player must decide their route through a series of dialogue and action options. Each of these choices will build their Captain's personality, as well as changing the course of their destiny and shaping the crew around them. |

Roblox music codes April 2022 – the best song IDs Posted: 28 Apr 2022 02:22 AM PDT Looking for Roblox music codes? There are thousands of popular songs available to listen to in Roblox, simply by entering music ID codes into your boombox or the radio. Using song IDs, you can play your favourite TikTok songs in games with your friends. So how do you play music in Roblox? The method varies depending on which game you want to blast your tunes in. Some games allow you free access to the boombox - simply equip and press it to bring up a text box in which you can enter a song ID code. Catalog Heaven is a great place to test the Roblox music codes you find, as it allows you to equip any boombox in the shop and try it out. In most games, however, you'll need to use the radio to play music. This is usually part of a paid Game Pass - the price of a Game Pass is set by each game developer individually. Once you have access to the radio, you can use it in the same way as the boombox - simply enter the song ID code and press play. Occasionally, tracks are taken down by Roblox, so if a code stops working, you'll have to look for a replacement. Here are the best radio music codes in Roblox that work in April 2022: RELATED LINKS: Best Roblox games, Is Roblox shutting down?, Best Minecraft seeds |
BAFTA nominees and winners talk about their incredible indie games Posted: 27 Apr 2022 04:03 PM PDT W.A.S.D is sadly behind us - for now - but if you've been watching this space in the past few days, you already know we're bringing all the talks from the event to you in digital form thanks to the preservational magic of YouTube. Today, that includes a chat with a group of developers behind some of the excellent games nominated for this year's BAFTA Games Awards. Host Richard Scott-Jones, editor of PCGamesN, is joined by developers including producer Siim-Kosmos Sinamäe and voice director Jim Ashilevi from ZA/UM, the studio behind the excellent Disco Elysium, which got its 'The Final Cut' update in 2021, earning the narrative-heavy RPG an evolving game nomination at this year's BAFTAs. The guests also include Daniel Mullins of the appropriately-named Daniel Mullins Games, the developer behind the mind-bending Pony Island, The Hex, and Inscryption. Inscryption proved a breakout hit in 2021, and won the BAFTA Games Award for game design. RELATED LINKS: Best indie games, What is W.A.S.D.?, Upcoming PC games |
Overwatch 2 gets record viewers after Twitch Drop beta keys Posted: 27 Apr 2022 03:23 PM PDT Overwatch 2 reached over 1.4 million concurrent Twitch viewers today as fans look for guaranteed access to the newly-launched test via Twitch Drop beta keys. That's around triple Overwatch's previous concurrent viewer record, and a pretty strong indicator of how much interest the new beta is garnering. The Overwatch 2 beta went live on April 26, and as Dot Esports reported then, it quickly reached a concurrent viewer peak of 469,000, which was already above the previous record of 439,152 set back in 2018, early on in the Overwatch League. (Twitch's directory does not currently distinguish between Overwatch 1 and 2.) This record came before Blizzard even enabled Twitch Drops. The Twitch Drop campaign kicked off today, April 27, and led to the new 1.4 million concurrent viewer record. Twitch Drops are still going until 6pm PDT / 9pm EDT / 2am BST - but if you're reading this, it's already too late to view the required four hours to receive beta access. Blizzard has announced that more keys will be distributed during the Overwatch League opening weekend broadcast starting May 5, and says more invitations may go out to players who've signed up via the official site later on in the test. This Total Warhammer 3 mod lets you paint Daniel any colour Posted: 27 Apr 2022 03:01 PM PDT If you opt to lead Chaos Undivided in Total War: Warhammer III, you get to meet the daemon prince who is now lovingly known by the player community as Daniel. Unique amongst the strategy game series' legendary lords, Daniel is fully customisable - well, almost fully. While you can unlock new arms, legs, horns, tails, and other various bits and bobs for Daniel, you can't control his skin tone… until now, that is. Thanks to the power of mods, now you can paint Daniel any colour you like. The Daniel Painter mod by Marthenil gives you a nice palette of daemonic colours to use on your prince of chaos. While the colour selection is fairly basic, it covers the standard range with several shades per colour. If you're feeling a bit Nurgly, you can go with a sickly yellow or bilious green hue, while the Khorne-likers will probably stick with the more classic daemon candyapple red. You can pick both primary and secondary colours for your daemon prince, too: the primary colour works pretty much like a base coat, with the secondary colour acting like a wash on top, that fills in all the nooks and crannies in the prince's model. Minecraft player makes a working car without mods Posted: 27 Apr 2022 02:39 PM PDT Minecraft is a sandbox game filled with many wonders. There are plenty of incredible things to stumble across that are native to the game, but many of the most impressive Minecraft builds come from people in the community. For example, you can use Command Blocks to unlock new levels of creativity by building cars or making a perfect circle. Mysticat is one such person who accomplishes said feats of creativity. The Minecraft YouTuber mainly specialises in making the impossible possible using Command Blocks. This includes making circles in the game, something that sounds like it would be easy to anyone who hasn't played the game but is unfeasible otherwise. This time around though, they've created a working car. Mysticat explains how to do this in the video (below), and while it's technically possible using Redstone, it's not as effective. If you've ever wondered about Command Blocks, this is a good video to watch. They go through how the car works, which command to use, and a few valuable nuggets of information regarding the whole process. Minecraft update: snapshot 22w17a adds musical goat horns Posted: 27 Apr 2022 02:26 PM PDT It's Wednesday, and you know that means: it's time for Minecraft snapshot 22w17a to arrive, with a brand new item in the goat horn, which will give you a brand-new way to make some noise. The snapshot also adds even more to the Warden's strength, but it does give an incentive for doing battle with the monster. As of this snapshot, goat horns will drop anywhere a goat rams a hard block like a tree, log, stone, packed ice, or ore. You can use the horn to play a loud sound that can be heard from a great distance, and each will play a different sound based on which goat it came from. There are a total of eight different horn variants, four of which you can only get from screaming goats. You'll also find a more powerful Warden now, as the creature's ranged attack will now deal 30 damage (up from 10) and will bypass your shields and armour - and that attack now only has a two second cooldown, down from five seconds. You will, however, now get a single sculk catalyst if you take a Warden down. RELATED LINKS: Minecraft console commands, Minecraft skins, Minecraft mods |
How game development can be more sustainable Posted: 27 Apr 2022 01:21 PM PDT The first-ever W.A.S.D. lasted but a few all-too-short days, but the discussions by the speakers and panels at the event held lessons that are well worth preserving. That's why we're uploading all the talks from W.A.S.D. to our YouTube channel, including a presentation on sustainability in the games industry by Dr. Tomas Rawlings, studio director at Auroch Digital. As Rawlings points out, climate change is an existential threat to human life as we know it, and while we all love a nice post-apocalyptic game like Fallout now and again, these aren't settings we'd actually like to live in 24/7. "When you think about post-apocalyptic, and let's prep for the apocalypse, the best way - by a long way - is not to have it," Rawlings says. For players, Rawlings says it's important to get involved with sustainability focused events and support games with environmentally responsible studios and themes. Developers can invest in renewable resources and cut down on data-intensive processes. Everyone, he says, ought to work for change on the political level by supporting leaders who prioritise climate change policies and sustainability.
