Genshin Impact Yelan materials – all ascension materials

Looking for Yelan ascension materials in Genshin Impact? This new Genshin Impact character was officially announced recently on the RPG games' official Twitter account, but since then character data has leaked from a beta build of the 2.7 update.

We may not know when the Yelan banner release date is, but we do know what her abilities should be and, more importantly, we know what Yelan ascension materials we're likely to need to bust through the level cap and reach her full potential. That is, provided she doesn't gamble everything away first! Note that one key component for Yelan is found in the new Chasm area, so make sure you waste no time in unlocking its secrets.

If you're taking the time to upgrade the best Genshin Impact characters on your team, we've got plenty more ascension material guides now for the likes of Raiden Shogun, Ayato, and even Venti. Below you'll find everything you need to know about Yelan's character ascension materials, talent ascension materials, and then specific guidance on where to find each of the items you need to ascend this ranged warrior. However, as this information is based on data reported from the beta, bear in mind there is a possibility it could change upon release.

Apex Legends Season 13 release date and details

Searching for more information about Apex Legends Season 13? Datamined leaks are fairly common in Apex Legends, and this season is no exception, as we already have a good idea about what may be coming to the battle royale game. There was a large Apex Legends leak back in March, showing off several legends at different stages of development - we hope to see most of these characters at some point over the next two years, although we still have to wait for them to be officially confirmed

We've also found leaks regarding a special type of loot bin in Apex Legends Season 13 which has the potential to drastically change the early game. In addition to some much needed buffs to balance our Apex Legends tier list, we might be introduced to Newcastle, a support legend who may be Bangalore's brother. Out of all the leaked characters, Newcastle has the most complete move set and model which points to him arriving in the near future.

There's also a strong chance that a new energy weapon is joining the arsenal of guns in Apex Legends, though it could be held back for a later season. Here's everything we know about Apex Legends Season 13, including rumours about Newcastle, the new energy weapon, and much more.

League of Legends patch 12.7 notes – Arcana skins, Zeri nerf

League of Legends patch 12.7 notes are starting to make their way onto the PBE, folks. While LoL patch 12.6 has only just been released, Riot Games is wasting no time getting to work on what's next for the MOBA game.

The 12.6 update has plenty to keep you occupied while Riot works on the next patch. The fashion-conscious among us have some new LoL Anima Squad skins to check out, which may be good news if you're a fan of Vayne, Miss Fortune, or Jinx. Rengar has also got a pretty hefty rework, while Hecarim has got some much-needed nerfs to rein them in a tad.

We're a good way into the PBE for patch 12.7, so we've got a decent glimpse at what's coming our way. Riot has revealed that we're getting Arcane skins for Ahri, Xayah, Rakan, Ryze, and Hecarim, which essentially gives the LoL champions a warm red glow and some new duds. You've also got heaps of champion changes to eyeball.

GOG will refocus on retro PC gaming

GOG will refocus on retro PC gaming

GOG was once at the forefront of making retro PC gaming legally available to the masses, but over the years the store has focused more and more on modern games and features to compete with the likes of Steam. Now, the folks running the store want to return it to its roots: a service focused on good old games.

"Originally, GOG stood for Good Old Games," the company says in a new blog post. "The idea for the company was born from the wish to play older games in a legal and easy-to-use way. As the classic games hold a special place in our heart, we'd like to devote more attention to highlighting them. It means that our goal is for GOG to become, once again, the best place for the classic PC games."

You can look to the recent release of The Wheel of Time for an idea of what this means in practical terms. The 1999 adaptation of Robert Jordan's novel series got a gentle remaster courtesy of GOG and Nightdive Studios, updated to run at modern resolutions on modern computers.

Victoria 3 will let you switch sides to lead a revolution

Victoria 3 will let you switch sides to lead a revolution

One of the new systems that will be introduced in Victoria 3 handles revolutions, which is what happens when enough people in your nation get so sick of you that they take up arms to depose you. In a grand strategy game as complex as Victoria 3 is shaping up to be, it's certainly not hard to imagine having a game go that sour, but the good news is that you've got a way out: you can opt to switch sides and join the revolutionaries.

As Victoria 3 lead designer Mikael Andersson explains in the latest dev diary, this is a risky move: whichever side winds up losing in the revolution gets completely annexed by the other, and it's game over. However, if you've been a particularly inept ruler and things are looking pretty dire, you'll be able to jump ship and take control of the revolutionary side during the diplomatic play phase of escalation.

The way revolutions start up looks interesting, too. Movements arise when some segment of your population wants a change to your laws. They might want to restore something you've changed, they might want to prevent you from changing something, or they might want something completely new - maybe universal suffrage, or workplace safety standards.

Unionising QA workers won’t get raises from Activision Blizzard

Unionising QA workers won’t get raises from Activision Blizzard

Earlier today, Activision Blizzard announced that it would move its 1,100 US-based temporary QA workers to full-time status, and increase the minimum salary for those roles across the company to $20 per hour. However, a spokesperson for the company has now confirmed to Bloomberg that these raises will not apply to workers at Raven Software, many of whom are pushing for unionisation.

Activision Blizzard says the lack of raises for QA workers at Raven Software are "due to legal obligations under the National Labor Relations Act." The company says "whether Raven workers choose to unionise has nothing to do with the salary increases elsewhere for Activision's QA workers." You can read the full report at Bloomberg.

"Make no mistake, all credit for Activision Blizzard's latest move to give all temporary and contingent QA team members full-time employment and a raise should go to the workers," the Communications Workers of America says in a statement shared to social media. "It's especially galling then that Activision has excluded Raven Software QA workers, who have been at the forefront of this effort, from these benefits. The company's assertion that the National Labor Relations Act prevents them from including Raven workers is clearly an effort to divide workers and undermine their effort to form a union."

Activision Blizzard turns 1,100 testers full-time amid union pressure

Activision Blizzard has announced that it will convert "all US-based temporary and contingent QA team members" to full-time employees. Nearly 1,100 workers will be made permanent as of July 1, and the minimum pay for those roles will increase to $20 per hour as of April 17. These employees will be eligible for company benefits and bonus plans, as well.

The company says this move "follows the process that began last year", when 500 temporary employees were converted to full-time status. At the same time, a dozen temporary QA workers were laid off from the Activision-owned Raven Software. Other employees staged a strike, demanding that the dismissed workers be reinstated, and that all Raven QA employees be given full-time status at the company.

These protests led to the formation of the Game Workers Alliance earlier this year, a union that still awaits official recognition from Activision Blizzard. Hearings between the company and the GWA have been brought before the National Labor Relations Board, which has yet to render a decision on how an official unionisation vote should be handled.

Generation Zero patch adds a new base assault mode

Generation Zero patch adds a new base assault mode

Generation Zero's second major patch of the year has arrived, and it introduces an all-new system to the open-world co-op game. Having adapted and learned since first appearing, and now they're building new fortified bases in the forest region that are full of traps, mines, and deadly FNIX reinforcements.

Each base assault is unique, with destructible walls and a layout of hazards that evolves as you increase the threat level in the area. Cause enough trouble in a region, and the local FNIX base will beef up security, making your assault more challenging.

The rewards are worth it, though. Capturing FNIX bases rewards you with command tokens, and you can use these to convert control point locations to the resistance. Developer Systemic Reaction says using these will open up seven new control points in the forest region where you'll be able to build up to four resistance bases. However, you'll want to choose your locations carefully, since they're vulnerable to attack by FNIX forces and you'll need to protect them in the new base defence missions that also arrive in today's patch.

Fortnite funding stations are back in action

Fortnite funding stations are back in action

Fortnite's funding stations are one of the more peculiar items in the battle royale game. They don't directly help you to win, though they can influence how proceedings play out. They're great as far as community-building goes, but they've also had a rough couple of days.

Despite the ongoing battle between the combat AR and the MK-7 on the funding stations, Epic Games disabled them due to stability issues on April 5. It's quite possible that having a bunch of players donating gold bars to them at once across multiple map points during countless games was simply too much.

The funding stations ended up being down for a little over 30 hours, with them coming back online late last night (for those of us in the UK), which is good news for those that enjoy the collective action needed to figure out which gun is coming back to Fortnite. Donating isn't just a sign of commitment though, as each time you do so, you'll also get a small reward back.

Fastest Intel CPU overclocks even faster, breaking records

The Core i9-12900KS already holds the best gaming CPU title, and the Intel Alder Lake chip is currently the world's fastest processor. As you'd perhaps expect, overlocking the chip unleashes monstrous clock speeds that rip previously set records apart, but you'll need more than an AIO cooler to keep it from melting your gaming PC.

Thanks to the overclocker TSAIK, the Intel Alder Lake Core i9-12900KS reaches a ridiculous max speed of 7.45GHz (via Tom's Hardware). Of course, there's a lot of shenanigans involved when it comes to pushing past the chip's natural 5.5Ghz cap, as TSAIK uses liquid nitrogen to keep temperatures down.

Impractical cooling solutions aside, the Core i9-12900KS' impressive speeds come with another caveat, as TSAIK's methods use a single core. In other words, while reaching 7.45Ghz is impressive, you won't be able to reap any practical rewards boost fps on your rig at home.

The best Genshin Impact Kokomi build for 2.6

The best Genshin Impact Kokomi build for 2.6

Want to know what the best Genshin Impact Kokomi build is? Sangonomiya Kokomi last appeared in a banner alongside Raiden Shogun as part of the second half of the 2.5 update. While you're busy collecting Kokomi's ascension materials, you may also want help deciding how best to kit her out.

The five-star Hydro catalyst wielder is the leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance and resides on Watatsumi, one of the Inazuma islands introduced in Genshin Impact 2.1. She shares many similarities with Barbara, and is often used as a support character, but there's room for her to be more than a healer in the best Genshin Impact Kokomi build. Kokomi's abilities may surprise people with her potential for elemental skill damage, which scales based on her max health.

She's currently A tier in our Genshin Impact tier list - we think she's highly valuable in the right party. The recent introduction of bleed monsters didn't have the game-changing effect people thought it might, but that doesn't mean healers aren't useful. Read on for our thoughts on the best Kokomi builds.

Epic’s making Lego Roblox

Epic’s making Lego Roblox

A Lego metaverse is on the way which, to translate it into terms used outside of big-money marketing meetings and corporate press releases, is probably going to look a lot like Lego Roblox. Epic and Lego are working together on an "immersive, creatively inspiring, and engaging digital experience for kids of all ages to enjoy together."

This unnamed game is billed as a "family-friendly digital experience," which "will give kids access to tools that will empower them to become confident creators and deliver amazing play opportunities." The notion of giving kids creation tools and allowing them to make their own games is the central pillar of Roblox, and it sounds like Epic and Lego are effectively trying to enter that same territory with this project.

Lengthy portions of the press release are dedicated to Epic and Lego's respective track records with online child safety, and the devs aim to "protect children's right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority," "safeguard children's privacy by putting their best interests first," and "empower children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience."

Minecraft village locations and all villager jobs

Looking for a Minecraft village? Or just want to wrap your head around how these cute little towns work? Villages in Minecraft are a great resource for stocking up on items before you explore or brew potions in Minecraft, whether that be trading with Minecraft villagers or unlocking chests tucked away in houses.

A Minecraft village will spawn villagers depending on the number of beds in the village, including farmers, fishermen, fletchers, butchers, clerics, armourers, and more. A Minecraft village features buildings, houses, and a well that's known as the village centre. The type of village is determined by the biome at the village centre or meeting point, where most villagers can be found. Villages spawn naturally and the amount of buildings and village features are randomly generated, including the villagers available to trade with and the location of the village itself. This can make finding a village tricky, but worth the reward.

Our Minecraft village guide covers how to find a village in Minecraft, how to avoid a zombie siege, and the best places to discover Minecraft village loot.

New Minecraft snapshot introduces game-changing item

It's Minecraft snapshot time, and this time around we're up to 22w14a. The wee updates give us a glimpse of what's to come through potential features, items, and enemies. This time around, though, we're getting an item called the Recovery Compass that will improve the quality of life of most players.

You can craft this one using the brand-new Echo Shards, which is another new object that you can find in Ancient City chests, so be prepared to do a fair bit of exploration. It'll be worth it, though, because the Recovery Compass directs you to wherever you last died, which will alleviate a huge worry if you need to grab your items after dying.

Of course, the snapshot is adding in a few other things, too, including: Mangrove Trees, the Mangrove Swamp biome, and a new way to create clay by placing mud above a pointed dripstone block. The latter will be great news for those who like messing around with Terracotta blocks thanks to their wonderful red colour. Mangrove is a block we've already seen used in some lovely Mangrove builds, but having a new biome to find them means it'll be easier to come across them organically.

OneXPlayer makes its AMD handheld gaming PC Steam Deck size

OneXPlayer makes its AMD handheld gaming PC Steam Deck size

One-netbook has taken a cue from the Steam Deck, shrinking its AMD CPU-powered OneXPlayer into a miniature handheld gaming PC. Equipped with a Ryzen 5800U CPU and a 7-inch screen, the portable powerhouse matches Valve's smaller screen while packing specs comparable to the Ayaneo Next.

The form factor of the new OneXPlayer Mini will feel somewhat familiar, simply swapping out Intel for AMD. Yet, its eight-core Ryzen 5800U chip makes for a substantial upgrade, with speeds of up to 4.4Ghz. At face value, the Onexplayer should outperform the Steam Deck, especially since its Aerith APU maxes out at 3.5Ghz. Benchmark tests might paint a completely different performance picture, but the prospect of higher clock speeds could help justify its higher price point.

Speaking of cost, the new OneXPlayer Mini starts at $999 USD for the 512GB model, which includes a 1080p IPS display, 16GB RAM, and a 12,600mAh battery. On paper, the OneXPlayer's battery should run rings around the Steam Deck, but your mileage will vary based on how hard you push the device with high settings and newer releases.

21 days to the Rogue Legacy 2 release date, roguelike fans

21 days to the Rogue Legacy 2 release date, roguelike fans

The Rogue Legacy 2 release date has been confirmed for April. The roguelike game entered Early Access in 2020, and has been enjoying regular updates ever since with balance tweaks, new biomes, new hero types, and more. But if you've been holding out for the 1.0 release, you won't have to wait much longer.

The devs at Cellar Door Games have confirmed the Rogue Legacy 2 release date is set for April 28, 2022. The game will go 1.0 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and will be launching for the first time on Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S consoles. The Early Access version is priced at $24.99 / £21.99 / €21.99.

If you want to catch up in the few weeks ahead of Rogue Legacy 2's official launch, the original Rogue Legacy is currently free-to-keep from the Epic store. The modern ubiquity of indie roguelike games owes a lot to the original game, and even as the sequel prepares to leave Early Access, the internet's still having insufferable debates over the difference between 'roguelikes' and 'roguelites'.

Next week’s free PC game from Epic is peak roguelike

Next week’s free PC game from Epic is peak roguelike

April 7, 2022 Next week's free games from the Epic Games Store will also include XCOM 2.

It's Thursday, and that means it's time to snag this week's round of free PC games from the Epic Games Store. Right now, you can grab roguelike platformer Rogue Legacy and the ghostly mystery game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. However, next week's game has also been revealed, and it's the mountain-scaling roguelike game Insurmountable.

Insurmountable casts you as a plucky mountain climber, and your task is to carefully make your way up a series of increasingly challenging peaks. The mountains are procedurally generated, so you'll never face the same ascent twice. Along the way, you'll be able to pick up useful gear that can help you circumnavigate difficult terrain or fight off the biting cold that closes in as you climb into higher altitudes.

There's also a dynamic weather system to contend with, so you'll have to be ready to adjust plans on the fly. In addition to the environmental hazards that come along with climbing extreme peaks, you've got to look out for signs of exhaustion, hypothermia, and loss of motivation.

Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga codes

Want to know all of the Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga cheat codes? These days it's somewhat unusual for games to have characters hidden behind unlockable codes, but they certainly add to the fun for those in the know. Skywalker Saga cheat codes are not to be confused with the Skywalker Saga datacards you can find throughout the game, which you can use to purchase game-changing modifiers, similar to the Skywalker Saga mumble mode unlock (which is a freebie, fortunately).

To enter Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga codes to unlock secret characters and ships, pause the game and select the 'enter code' option, represented by a key with a plus sign. You then get a prompt to type in your chosen cheat code; after entering it successfully, you'll see a notification confirming the character or ship you have unlocked.

Not every character in the space game is available via cheat codes, so you can't take Darth Maul's double-ended lightsaber for a spin without playing through the Episode I - The Phantom Menace levels. However, Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga codes unlock a handful of secret 'Holiday Special' characters and ships you can't find anywhere else in the game, so read on to learn how to obtain them all.

VR fantasy board game Demeo feels right at home on PC

VR fantasy board game Demeo feels right at home on PC

If you wanted an RPG game with 'good graphics' back in the earliest days of the 1990s, your best bet was HeroQuest, the Milton-Bradley tabletop dungeon-crawler produced as a kind of introduction to Games Workshop's more advanced Warhammer products. Demeo is a VR co-op board game designed specifically to evoke the best bits of games like HeroQuest, and today it's available in a new PC edition that works on standard flat 'pancake' monitors.

In VR, Demeo has obvious charm: it recreates the feeling of being around a tabletop miniatures-based adventure game, complete with figures to manually move and dice to shake and roll. While the PC edition lacks the sense of presence that VR headsets provide, there's still a remarkable physicality to Demeo on conventional monitors. Figures make a satisfying tok sound when you plop them down on the board, and the dice spin and bounce as they're shaken with the mouse pointer. To attack a creature, you pick up your figure and tap the enemy with it.

During each character's turn in Demeo, you have two action points to work with. You can spend those points on movement, attacks, or by using one of the cards in your hand. The cards you have available are determined by your character's class, but you can add to your hand by finding treasures scattered around the dungeons, which, as in HeroQuest, are assembled from a selection of pre-made chunks in the game's library.

GTA Online weekly update boosts rewards on VIP and bodyguard work

The GTA Online weekly update is here, folks, and that can only mean it's Thursday. Rockstar Games will post the full notes on the Newswire later today, though the update is already live, so fans are dipping into Los Santos to see what's worth doing this week.

You're getting triple the usual in-game cash and reputation points on associate and bodyguard work alongside stunt races. Rockstar is also boosting the rewards on VIP and motorcycle club work by double. If you've been out of the loop, MC work applies to specific missions like Joust, Stand Your Ground, and Caged In. VIP and Bodyguard work, meanwhile, was introduced back in the Executives and Criminals update back in 2016.

If you're looking for a new set of wheels, the GTA Prize Ride is the Hakuchou Drag, which you can earn by finishing in the top three of five pursuit races. The GTA Podium Vehicle, meanwhile, is the Savestra - more luck is involved in that one, but this might just be your week.

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga co-op: how to play on two screens

Exploring the galaxy in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga co-op mode is undoubtedly a blast with a buddy at your side, and now some clever players have found a way to make the game playable across two screens. While this split screen enhancement isn't too difficult to set up, some less-powerful gaming PCs will struggle to maintain playable frame rates after enabling it.

This Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga co-op enhancement is particularly demanding on your GPU, so we'd only really recommend running it on the best graphics card at your disposal, particularly one that easily surpasses the game's system requirements.

So, how does it work? You'll essentially be creating a windowed instance of the game that stretches across two screens, and in turn double the amount of pixels rendered on your Y axis. This means that running the game on two 1080p displays essentially transforms the resolution to 3840x1080. This isn't possible to implement via the settings menu, so we've posted some instructions on how to do this, down below.
