Final Fantasy XIV 6.11 Patch Notes Include PvP Adjustments

Posted: 26 Apr 2022 04:00 AM PDT

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.11

Square Enix has released the patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.11. This includes changes that will be made to various PvP and battle actions. Specifically, Dragoon, Gunbreaker, Samurai, and Machinist have had changes made to their battle actions. The changes to PvP actions are more extensive in terms of Job Classes. Additionally, new items have been added to the game alongside the implementation of Dragonsong's Reprise through the patch.

In regards to PvP, actions for Astrologian, Scholar, White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage, Dancer, Machinist, Bard, Reaper, Samurai, Monk, Ninja, Gunbreaker, Dark Knight, Warrior, and Paladin have been adjusted. The patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.11 detail how various PvP actions for each Job Class have been changed. Certain Job Classes like Warrior will only receive an update to a single PvP action. However, others such as Gunbreaker have received multiple adjustments to several of their PvP actions.

Square Enix will be temporarily suspending housing purchases in Final Fantasy XIV through the implementation of Patch 6.11. This is due to an ongoing issue regarding the housing lottery system. Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida stated that the team is currently testing bug fixes and that the issue will be resolved through future maintenance.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

FFXIV Players Could Get Suspended or Banned for Toxic Behavior in PvP

Posted: 26 Apr 2022 03:30 AM PDT

FFXIV PvP Toxic Behavior

Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida released a statement addressing toxic behavior observed in PvP. While Yoshida thanks players for their interest in the Crystalline Conflict PvP mode, he states that this warning against toxic behavior applies to all PvP modes in FFXIV. First, he addresses "uncooperative" or "lethargic behavior." This is when a player chooses to no longer participate by idling while the PvP match is still going on. The second issue he addresses is using quick chat phrases to "taunt" or using emotes repeated on top of a downed opponent. The official statement provides a more extensive list of prohibited behaviors.

Yoshida also states that those who continue to violate the rules and exhibit toxic behavior in any of FFXIV's PvP modes can potentially get their accounts suspended or banned. The statement goes through how reports are handled and what puts a case forward for action to be taken against a user. While the statement does provide a list of behaviors players should generally avoid, Yoshida mentions that intent and how your actions are received by the players around you are equally important.

Additionally, Yoshida reveals that the development team will be working hard to balance PvP in FFXIV in order to make it a more enjoyable and exciting experience for users.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

lilith darkstalkers statue

Kotobukiya showed off an upcoming statue of Lilith from Darkstalkers. The statue, which is part of the Bishoujo series, will be available for pre-order from April 28, 2022, at 11 AM JST. This means that for those in the Americas, pre-orders start from April 27, 2022, at 7 PM PST/10 PM EST.

https://twitter.com/Kotobukiya_EN/status/1518747378907435008

In Darkstalkers lore, Lilith is a being that was born from Morrigan's excess energy. This is why she has similar physical traits to Morrigan, and why she wears almost identical clothing. The Lilith statue has her arms above and behind her head, and her hips are arched. When Kotobukiya first announced that Lilith would be the next Bishoujo statue from Darkstalkers, it also shared Shunya Yamashita's concept art for what it would look like.

The Kotobukiya website has not yet been updated to include the Lilith statue. She will likely appear there when pre-orders actually open. Other Bishoujo series statues from Darkstalkers include one of Morrigan and one of Felicia. The Morrigan statue cost $120. It will ship out to North American and European customers between April and June 2022. The Felicia statue cost $139.99, and she will appear in North America in October 2022.

The Darkstalkers Lilith Bishoujo series figure will be available for pre-order from 11 AM JST on April 18, 2022. That is the evening of April 27, 2022, for those in the Pacific and Eastern time zones.

Utawarerumono RPG Monochrome Mobius Global Release Date Revealed

Posted: 26 Apr 2022 02:30 AM PDT

Monochrome Mobius

Monochrome Mobius, a new JRPG set in the same world as the Utawarerumono series, will debut globally. The announcement comes from publisher Shiravune, which is working with developer Aquaplus on the game. Previous Utawarerumono titles waited months or even years between their Japanese releases and their eventual overseas localizations. By contrast, Shiravune is targeting a day-and-date global PC release on September 8, 2022. The Shiravune release will support English, Chinese, and Japanese language options.

Shiravune also uploaded a localized trailer for the game. Its formal title is Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0nPDrwnA9k

Chronologically, Monochrome Mobius is a prequel of sorts to Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception. It stars Oshtor, a major character from Mask of Deception, and focuses on his adventures before becoming the General of the Right in the empire of Yamato. In addition, younger versions of Oshtor's friends Mikazuchi and Munechika (also characters from Mask of Deception) both make appearances as playable party members. Even Nekone, Oshtor's little sister, shows up, though she's much younger than in Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth. The story takes place in and around Oshtor's homeland of Ennakamuy. Oshtor is tasked to investigate some mysterious phenomena, and in so doing meets a mysterious girl, Shunya. Shunya informs him that his father, long thought missing, is still alive. Oshtor then sets off on a quest to find his father, and the truth, in a land at the end of the world: Arva Shulan.

The game itself will be structured more along the lines of a traditional JRPG, rather than the combination visual novel/tactical RPG genre of mainline Utawarerumono titles. It'll have field exploration, turn-based battles with a small party, and character progression elements.

Aquaplus also re-uploaded previously teased gameplay footage, as well as the Monochrome Mobius prologue and its animated opening.

Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten will release on PC, PS4, and PS5 in Japan on September 8, 2022. It will release outside Japan with English, Japanese, and Chinese-language support on PC on the same day. Previous games in the Utawarerumono franchise are available on PS4 and PC. Check out Siliconera's impressions of Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen, an enhanced remake of the first game in the series.

Arknights Near Light Limited Event Brings the Radiant Knight

Posted: 26 Apr 2022 02:00 AM PDT

Arknights Near Light

Mobile tower defense game Arknights is launching a new limited-time event, titled "Near Light". It will follow up on last year's "Maria Nearl" storyline, which centers on the knights of Kazimierz.  The event kicks off on April 28, 2022.

Near Light originally launched on the Arknights Chinese server as a 2.5 Year Anniversary Celebration. To promote it, Yostar produced no less than three trailers, including one animated by Yostar Pictures, which is also producing the Arknights: Prelude to Dawn series.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0fTQtQnTA0

Another CG-animated Arknights trailer lays out the premise of Near Light while introducing players to the event's marquee Operators: Flametail and Nearl the Radiant Knight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K47elku8YdI

Flametail was first introduced in the Maria Nearl event and had a role in April 2022's Pinus Slyvestris mini-event as well. She's a 6-Star Vanguard Operator. Meanwhile, though Nearl already exists in Arknights as a 5-Star Defender, Nearl the Radiant Knight is a 6-Star Alternate Operator for the character. She has among the highest attack stats of all Operators in the game and has a special skill that allows her to be deployed without counting towards the Unit Limit. Like Alternate Operators Skadi the Corrupting Heart and Ch'en the Holungday, Nearl the Radiant Knight has animated character art.

Another preview for the Near Light event properly detailed other Arknights Operators being added to the playable roster.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFmLz-ba4Q8

Besides Flametail and the new Nearl, Near Light will reward players with Wild Mane, a free 5-Star Vanguard Operator. The banners for Nearl the Radiant Knight and Flametail also have a chance of dropping the 5-Star Caster Corroserum. Corroserum is the second "Blast Caster"-type Operator. This archetype was previously monopolized by the 6-Star Caster Ifrit. Two new Operators, Rhodes Island intern Honeyberry and store assistant Pudding, will be added to the in-game Certificate Shop. Finally, a new 1-Star Robotic unit will be added to the free Recruitment system: the Archer-class Justice Knight. Cosmetic skins will also be sold for Operators Pallas, Rosa, Andreana, and Myrtle.

The Arknights Near Light event begins on April 28, 2022, and ends on May 19, 2022. The game is available on iOS and Android.

Super Mario Movie Release Date Delayed to April 2023

Mario Movie Delayed

Nintendo's upcoming Super Mario movie will be delayed until Spring 2023. The decision came after Nintendo discussed plans with the movie's animation studio, Illumination Entertainment. The Super Mario movie's new release date in North America is. April 7, 2023. It will appear on April 28, 2023 in Japan.

Nintendo game director Shigeru Miyamoto took to Twitter to announce the movie's delay. Nintendo originally planned to release the movie during the 2022 holiday season. According to Miyamoto, the decision to delay the movie came after he consulted with Illumination Entertainment founder Christopher Meledandri. Furthermore, Miyamoto apologized to fans for the delay but added that it would be "well worth the wait."

https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1518756878251089921?s=20&t=hVpDASrRHpUfSS-6B6wZpA

The reason behind the delayed Super Mario movie is unclear. Back in November 2021, Meledandri addressed concerns folks had about actor Chris Pratt's Mario voice. Meledandri stated that Pratt's take on the iconic character was "phenomenal." People also raised concerns over the actor's ties to the Hillsong Church, a religious organization accused of anti-LGBTQ practices.

The untitled Super Mario movie will feature a cast of prominent actors. Among them will be Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser. Animating the movie is Illumination Entertainment, best known for creating the Minions films.

The new Super Mario movie release date in North America is April 7, 2023. It will appear in Japan on April 28, 2023.

Splatoon 3 Ink Vac Weapon Showcased

The worldwide Splatoon 3 Twitter accounts shared details about the Ink Vac, a new weapon that seems inspired by a leaf blower. The item seems like one that could be used both defensively and offensively. It can counter enemies by vacuuming up enemy ink and using it against them.

First, here's the English reveal of the Splatoon 3 Ink Vac weapon. It shows a teal variant of it, but doesn't specify a particular model. It is from the Dolphin brand. Said "company" has been a part of the series since the original Splatoon.

The Japanese Twitter account took things a step further. It actually shows how the Ink Vac weapon works in Splatoon 3. Initially, people see it without any enemy ink involved. In the second portion, it shows how it sucks up ink from two opponents' attacks.

The last new weapon revealed is the Stringer bow.

Splatoon 3 will appear on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022.

Bit Orchard: Animal Valley is Farming Game That Stresses Efficiency

Bit Orchard: Animal Valley is Farming Game That Stresses Efficiency

Some of the earliest farming games didn't offer all the same activities as modern ones. You woke up, tended your crops, sold your harvest, and maybe had rather perfunctory relationships. Bit Orchard: Animal Valley calls back to the days when min-maxing your farm and schedule mattered most. It is bare bones. You have freedom and goals. However, everything comes together to encourage you to focus on a task.

Things began as they do in many farming games. Your character abandons a city life for one on a farm. Specifically, they bought an orchard. You start with a small plot of land with one apple tree, a work bench, a home, a skittish rabbit, and a flock of crows. Controls? You have a bar at the bottom with a handful of actions. You can plant seeds, use a scythe on weeds to collect fibers, water trees with a bottomless watering can, and use your hand to pet animals or interact with things. A small to-do list appears at the upper right with a handful of actions that can take days or weeks, depending on your pace. You can check your inventory, but it's small. As for crops, all you need to worry about are apples, big apples, and golden apples.

Bit Orchard: Animal Valley is Farming Game That Stresses Efficiency

This means initially, all you focus on is getting more apples. You start with a bit of seed money, which is best put toward seeds. Because some of your first tasks involve planting 20 trees and harvesting 20 apples. (Big apples and golden apples don't count. Both seem to come up randomly, once you have trees planted.) Harvesting is as simple as walking past a tree. However, when apples are on trees, there is a very good chance crows will be too. If you take too long to get there or don't have a scarecrow nearby, the bird can eat it before you get there. Also, as you run about, you might be able to corner the rabbit by a sapling or tree so you can pet and befriend it.

Gradually, things open up more. Your priorities change to be more efficient. To grow more trees without sacrificing crops and productivity. You get enough money to invest in sprinkler parts, so you can craft sprinklers. That means you don't waste time, which passes swiftly. on watering. Perhaps you cut down, then replace, trees to ensure the greatest area is covered by the sprinklers and eventual scarecrows. The latter of which is a necessity, as otherwise you'll never get those sweet, sweet apples before the crows do. However, unlike the sprinklers, you don't see a sphere of influence when placing scarecrows. Which means you have to guess at which trees will be protected.

Bit Orchard: Animal Valley is Farming Game That Stresses Efficiency

Granted, you can eventually start to relax. Maybe after you reach the third land expansion and build a bridge. At that point, you probably have more than enough money to invest in extras like cosmetics. That means you can start interacting more with those around you. It's like a reward. You did good. You figured out how to earn enough. Now you can dress up and meet folks.

So yes, Bit Orchard: Animal Valley is one of those farming games that teases you with expansion after expansion. After an in-game week, you'll know how to make the most of your initial plot. Likely before a month is done, you'll own two fields. If luck is with you and you grow a golden apple, you could gain access to a wider area by a month. Keep doing well, and who knows how far you can go?

Bit Orchard: Animal Valley is available on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Bit Orchard is also available on PCs.

The Silent Kingdom Otome RPG Kickstarter Hits Its Switch Stretch Goal

The Silent Kingdom Otome RPG Kickstarter Hits Its Switch Stretch Goal

Another otome game is going to eventually head to the Switch, as The Silent Kingdom RPG hit a stretch goal for a port. It needed to raise €50,000 on Kickstarter to make that possible. It is now at over €51,000 (~$55,000). This means the indie Lucky Cat title will eventually show up on the system. There's no guaranteed release date yet. However, the full release is tentatively set to appear on PCs via Steam and the eShop in 2024.

In The Silent Kingdom, players follow Princess Erinys. Her kingdom is cursed, and it is up to her to potentially save it. However, what happens depends on the choices players make during the otome RPG. This also means an opportunity to romance companions.

Here's a trailer, to help give people an idea of what this PC and Switch otome RPG will be like.

Ahead of the accomplishment, Lucky Cat released an estimated roadmap for The Silent Kingdom that anticipated the Switch stretch goal being hit. Here's what people can expect to happen. This is an in-progress and tentative schedule, however. For example, the Early Access Beta Test and things after it will rely on RPG Maker Unite, which isn't available yet, due to the upcoming remake of the full game in Unity.

  • July 2022: Small Steam Beta Test with 30-60 minutes of Chapter 1.
  • Late 2022/Early 2023: Early Access Steam Beta Test of Chapter 1.
  • Late 2022/Early 2023: Early Access Steam release of everything up to the end of Chapter 1 will come one month after the Early Access Steam Beta Test.
  • 2024: Steam and Switch full release.
  • 2024: The Gladiator extra romance option will appear "some months" after launch.

The Silent Kingdom is expected to come to the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2024. The Kickstarter will end on May 10, 2022. The minimum amount someone can contribute to get a copy of the game is €18 (~$20). A demo is available on itch.io and Steam.

One Piece Odyssey Screenshots Show Characters and Enemies 1

People can get a better look at the One Piece Odyssey RPG, as new screenshots show off Straw Hat Pirates characters, the new enemies they'll face, and locations around Waffle Island. That's the place where everyone is stranded after the Thousand Sunny sinks. Bandai Namco shared 14 in Japan, with each set designed to showcase a different part of the adventure.

The first batch of screenshots from the official One Piece Odyssey site featured characters like Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Robin, Sanji, Usopp, and Chopper. There's also a map with an "X" on it and a tipped over ship. This could be referencing the Sunny sinking due to the storm.

[gallery columns="4" ids="925177,925178,925179,925180" link="file"]

The second assortment focuses on new One Piece Odyssey enemies. This set offers a look at some of the new characters, which series creator Eiichiro Oda helped design.

[gallery columns="5" ids="925181,925182,925183,925184,925185" link="file"]

Finally, the last four show what players will experience inside Waffle Island ruins. These seem like they will be the game's dungeons. The screenshots shared hint at some puzzles characters will encounter in One Piece Odyssey. In one image, it seems Luffy is actually manipulating a device to unlock a door.

One Piece Odyssey will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam in 2022.

New Q Posket Tales of Arise Figures of Alphen and Shionne Shown

Banpresto is working on Q Posket figures of Tales of Arise heroes Alphen and Shionne. While they aren't available yet, people can get a peek at how they look. Both Alphen and Shionne are the first two in this line. Each one is available in two versions. Some retailers, like Tokyo Otaku Mode, are already taking pre-orders for the figures. [Thanks, Abyssal Chronicles!]

Each of the Tales of Arise Q Posket figures features the characters in their default outfits, as well as a color swap of that design. So Alphen Version A shows the character in the Sincleaver Armor and with his mask on. Version B is an alternate look that makes the armor look silver, rather than black.
[gallery columns="2" ids="925171,925170" link="file"]

The Shionne Tales of Arise Q Posket figures match the Alphen ones. Version A involves her Noble Scarlet attire. Version B is a black version of Noble Scarlet. (Though, due to the color scheme, it does look a little like Noble Azure.)
[gallery columns="2" ids="925173,925174" link="file"]

So far, Connexe Toys and Tokyo Otaku Mode are offering pre-orders for the figures. Each expects them to appear in February 2023. At Connexe, each one is $22.99. Tokyo Otaku Mode is selling them for $19.95 each.

These aren't the only Alphen and Shionne figures on the way. Kotobukiya is working on one of Alphen. A Spiritale Shionne one is in development too.

Tales of Arise is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Chocobo GP Update Fixes Its Matchmaking Problems

Chocobo GP Update Fixes Its Matchmaking Problems

A new Chocobo GP update is out now, and this one fixes matchmaking issues for multiplayer races. Ahead of the fix, there could be issues when playing. This would mean people might experience a long wait before matching or there would be issues during races. All of them are now remedied. A bug that would let people "fly" by exploiting a jumping bug is also gone now.

First, a number of issues ended up being fixed because an error that would come up during Chocobo GP was fixed. The problem would come up when a match would start. When the data wouldn't be properly handled, people might not see the exact lap they were on, have issues driving, or fewer than 8 people in a race. Now that 1.0.5 is out, that won't happen. It also means that the game will try to place you in a new match again faster.

As for the exploit, this means Time Attack will be fixed. The bug meant people would be able to improve their times. This is because after jumping, they could then float for a bit. All Ghost Data that used it is now invalid. Records with it will be removed too.

Chocobo GP is available on the Nintendo Switch. Both paid and lite versions are out now. On May 16, 2022, the first season will end. FFVII Cloud is available as the first Prize Pass reward until then. Past patches fixed issues with the Gold Saucer and adjusted Prize Pass requirements.

Chrono Cross Opening Cutscene with Serge and the Mastermune Explained

Chrono Cross Opening Cutscene with Serge and the Mastermune Explained

In the Chrono Cross opening movie, nearly every cutscene shown is one that appears in the game proper. There is one exception. At one part, Chrono Cross hero Serge appears running while wielding a Mastermune Swallow. This doesn't appear later. Director Masato Kato offered a brief statement to solve the mystery of why it is there.

The answer came up after BitterFennec asked during Square Enix's request for game-related questions. Kato noted this is a simple situation in which a Chrono Cross cutscene was created specifically for the opening to help showcase Serge's personality.

Here is exactly what Kato had to say about this Chrono Cross moment with Serge and the Mastermune.

The priority when creating that scene of Serge running with the Master Mune was to show Serge as brave and dynamic in the opening movie.

It wasn't like we had that particular scene in the story and then deleted it later.

It was more that this kind of scene wouldn't be out of place, or rather, this is him in his usual state.

Square Enix shared the remaster's opening ahead of launch.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Azur Lane Spring 2022 event starring SMS Emden

The Japanese Azur Lane Spring 2022 live stream revealed a new event that will run from late April to early May 2022. It will add World War I-era ships into the Germany-inspired Ironblood faction. All shipgirls in this event will have the SMS prefix instead of the World War II-era KMS. The star of the new Azur Lane event will be SMS Emden.

The Azur Lane depiction of Emden will actually comprise of two shipgirls based on two different German ships with the same name in history. The Dresden-class cruiser completed in the late 1900s will become the model for the character with white attires. The 1916 Königsberg-class ship present at Scapa Flow will serve as the inspiration for the black costumed character.

A separate mini-event adding a little version of KMS Prinz Eugen will run at the same time. She will join the roster of characters who have received child versions, which include HMS Illustrious and USS Enterprise.

Here's the list of new shipgirls that will appear in the Azur Lane Spring 2022 event:

  1. SMS Emden - Super Rare Light Cruiser - Construction-exclusive
  2. SMS Lützow - Super Rare Battlecruiser - Construction-exclusive
  3. SMS Seydlitz - Super Rare Battlecruiser - Construction and point shop
  4. SMS Elbing - Elite Light Cruiser - Construction-exclusive

Yostar and Manjuu have been adding many new shipgirls to the Ironblood faction. Its previous event, "Tower of Transcendence," ran during the 2022 new year holiday season. It added fictional presentations of the Kriegsmarine's Plan Z ships, such as the H39 battleship Ulrich von Hutten and the P-class cruiser Prinz Adalbert.

Azur Lane is available worldwide on Android and iOS mobile devices. The new event adding World War I-era shipgirls will run from April 28 to May 12, 2022.
