Upcoming Animated Film on King David to be “Politically Correct”

Posted: 30 Jun 2022 06:20 AM PDT

The Jerusalem Post tells of an animated film in the works based on biblical King David, produced by a south African animation studio called Sunrise (apparently not the same as the Japanese studio of a similar name), but there’s suggestions this could all be a most politically correct development indeed:

An animated feature film on the life of King David, called David, is currently in production in South Africa, and its producer, Phil Cunningham, visited Jerusalem last week to research the film.

"We are aiming for the quality to be the same as Disney or Pixar or Dreamworks Films," he said. "We've done a lot of research trips to Israel; we've been on four trips prior to this one to make sure it's deeply authentic."

And here’s surely a beginning point of contention, or a sign of the mistakes about to be made: Disney and their Pixar affiliate are going off the deep end today in wokeness, and Dreamworks was originally co-founded by ultra-leftist Steven Spielberg, who himself has long lost the talent he used to have, as his most recent film, a needless remake of West Side Story, made clear. To say you’re going to make your cartoon similar to what men like Spielberg specialized in doesn’t inspire much confidence, mainly because he watered down Prince of Egypt a quarter century ago to appease anti-Israeli Islamists (yet it was barred for screening in most Muslim countries anyway), mainly by not depicting the ancient Israelites returning to their country. Yet that’s the very film they seem to be taking their cue from here:

The obvious model for an animated biblical feature like this is the 1998 The Prince of Egypt, but there has not been another such high-profile Bible-based animated film in the intervening years.

"We are really leaning into the authenticity and we want the project both visually and in every other way, to be as authentic as possible and grounded in history and to be as accurate as possible," Cunningham said. "But at the same time, we want it to be highly entertaining and accessible to the whole world."

But what if they’re not, considering the Dreamworks-produced cartoon was hardly the best rendition itself? These filmmakers say things, but only the finished product convinces, or doesn’t.

One of the ways Cunningham and his team will make it authentic is in the voice cast. "We're going to make sure we only cast people of Israeli origin" in the appropriate roles in the movie, he said.

And this, I think, is silly wokeness to boot. It may be one thing to hire people with foreign accents, but it’s not like they have to be Israeli per se in order to provide an aura of authenticity. As though it weren’t bad enough the Simpsons resorted to this PC approach in the past few years. I don’t think this is a good idea either.

Cunningham has assembled a team that includes Pixar and Disney alumni, such as Nathan Stanton, who is head of story of David and who has worked on such Pixar classics as Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo. Brent Dawes, the leading writer and director at Sunrise, is directing the film.

Oh, and what if it turns out former employees of these studios are little different from the SJWs running the stores today? Somehow, the recruitment of folks from these 2 companies doesn’t make me feel encouraged or inspire confidence. Honestly, I think in the end, the Bible is best left to the books, because with all the PC running amok these days, there’s little chance it’ll be done justice.

Tom Cruise Celebrates Maverick’s $1B Milestone With Special Message

Posted: 30 Jun 2022 04:45 AM PDT

Last weekend, the oft-delayed Top Gun sequel passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, elevating Tom Cruise’s victorious return to the big screen as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. Cruise expressed his gratitude to viewers in a congratulatory message, not just on behalf of the Top Gun: Maverick cast and crew for the success of their film, but also for everyone who has supported theaters and the movie-going experience.

Top Gun: Maverick is just the second movie to gross $1 billion since 2019, despite Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness coming up just short of making it a trilogy after a difficult couple of years for theaters during the global pandemic.

In a post on Twitter, Cruise shared the following thank you:

Beyond the 30+ years it took to have the movie sequel made, it has been a lengthy road for Top Gun: Maverick to reach theaters. Following the initial reshoots, which pushed the release date to 2020, the Covid epidemic further postponed the movie. After being scheduled for a number of releases, being advertised, and then being cancelled, it appeared, briefly, that the film might end up being streamed exclusively on Paramount+.

Top Gun: Maverick is now Paramount’s second-highest grossing film ever, proving that they were right to stand by their principles. There is a strong likelihood that the movie may surpass Transformers: Age of Extinction as its current highest selling after earning another $30 million domestically this weekend.

Exposed: The False Prophet and the Cult Inside Google

Posted: 29 Jun 2022 03:25 PM PDT

For a while now, I've been shedding light on how most cultural and economic institutions, including Big Tech, subscribe to a cult mentality.

If the allegations made in a recent lawsuit are to be believed, Google in particular is being taken over by an actual cult.

A pretentious and problematic New Age society has reportedly set up shop within multiple levels of the Google Developer Studio (GDS), and they very much intend to remain there — at least, that's what a new lawsuit filed on behalf of a former employee alleges, according to a recent deep dive from The New York Times.

The Fellowship of Friends, formed in 1970 by a former San Francisco Bay Area schoolteacher named Robert Earl Burton, is purportedly "available to anyone interested in pursuing the spiritual work of awakening," and claims that a higher consciousness can be attained by surrounding oneself with "fine arts and culture," like operas, ballets, antiques, paintings, and wine.

But at least 12 of them have worked, or are currently working, with the Google silo dedicated to producing video content showcasing the company's various technologies, while many other associates have been employed in various third-party capacities for events, catering, and even massages. Kevin Lloyd, previously a video producer at GDS, claims he was fired last year for voicing concerns about the Fellowship's influence and role in the department.

A defining feature of a cult is dividing people into insiders versus outsiders and then working to ostracize those who are on the outs. If Lloyd really was fired over a disagreement with the Fellowship, it lends credence to claims of their cult status.

That's why Lloyd is bringing a legal case against Google.

He's using a lawyer who won $6.5 million for a client who claimed she hadn't been promoted because she wasn't a member of the Fellowship of Friends.

It's unclear how many Google employees are actually members of the Fellowship.

So how did the cult gain a foothold at Google in the first place?

According to Lloyd and his lawsuit, both the Fellowship and a contractor provider for Google named Advanced Systems Group have consistently relied on poorly regulated hiring laws to bring Friends aboard in various capacities in and around the company.

It's so pervasive that Google Developer Studio's boss, Peter Lubbers, is a documented, longtime member of the Fellowship — implying he makes well into the five, or even six, figures. Fellowship members frequently donate 10 percent of their income to the organization, by the way.

These are the same nepotistic hiring practices that Silicon Valley has used for years to replace American workers with subcontinental indentured servants. So it's amusing to see a hippie style crystals and incense cult exploit the same loopholes.

But who are these guys, anyway?

The group is also known as Living Presence and the Fourth Way School.

It has faced multiple damning accusations in the past and the new lawsuit accuses it of having a history of sex trafficking.

The Fellowship was founded by Robert Earl Burton in 1970.

He predicted that civilization is doomed and his group aims to form a new civilization after the one we know now is over.

Looks like they're not a death cult per se – more a New Age grift in the vein of Carlos Castaneda.

Burton is also regarded by followers as a prophet. When he forecast a worldwide recession in 1984, believers urgently stockpiled provisions and weapons. He has predicted that a 1998 earthquake will consume the West Coast but spare Apollo. As for the 2006 apocalypse, Burton says Apollo is an "eternal city" that will preserve culture for the ages.

Note that this group still has over 1500 members despite its leader's dismal track record as a prophet.

People talk about the decline in sexual morality and the erosion of freedom, but an overlooked consequence of sidelining the Bible from the public square is this proliferation of false prophets. They'd think twice if the biblical punishment for false prophecy was still in force.

Just sayin'.

But speaking of sexual immorality …

Many ex-members said they were not spurred to leave until allegations emerged about Burton's sexual behavior. For years, they said, the teacher's alleged conduct was unknown because of strict rules against gossiping or speaking ill of him. Moreover, they said, Burton claimed to be celibate, saving his sexual energy for the good of his flock.

Word of the leader's alleged habits first slipped out in 1984, when Samuel Sanders–a former member of the fellowship board of directors–sued the group, claiming fraud and alleging that Burton used his "god-figure role" to prey sexually upon impressionable young men. The Sanders suit–which was settled in 1988–led an estimated 100 members to quit.

A similar number left in 1995 after ex-member Richard Buzbee wrote an open letter to the fellowship's followers, claiming that Burton had demanded sex from him and had a sexual relationship with Buzbee's son, Troy, for many years.

Troy Buzbee, now 27, sued last April, claiming that Burton first seduced him when Buzbee was 17. Declaring himself "an angel in a man's body," Burton allegedly told Buzbee that the gods wished for the two to be close.

"Burton would kiss [Troy Buzbee] on the forehead, which he said represented the seat of the soul and then instruct [Buzbee] to 'separate' from his body and just 'let go,' " said the suit, which alleged the sexual encounters continued for more than five years and that Burton had sex with other young men. Although Buzbee said he was repulsed and suffered "self-loathing," his "brain was programmed to believe that there was no place to go," the lawsuit said.

Multiple failed prophecies didn't discredit Burton in most of his followers' eyes. Even serious sex abuse allegations only convinced 100 members to leave. You can't reason someone out of a cult.

The media are focusing on the Fellowship's infiltration of Google to distract from the even weirder and more dangerous transhuman bugman cargo cult that already holds sway there. And whose policies let the Fellowship in.

And this is just the stuff we know about. Anything could be going on behind closed doors at Google's Mountain View technodome.

Regardless, one of the biggest companies on Earth, whose products and services are now essential to the operation of society is in the grip of at least two wacko cults.

Sweet dreams

Happy, hopeful, and practical

Indie Comics Showcase #186: Shadowpunk, CyberFunk Streetz & Buffalo

Posted: 29 Jun 2022 01:15 PM PDT

Welcome back to another installment of Indie Comics Showcase, the weekly blog where we signal boost a few truly independent comics that are currently crowdfunding their projects, crowdsourcing their funding in some way, or just completely self-publishing on their own. Every little bit of support for these creators matters, from a single dollar pledge to the twenty-five dollar bundle, and of course the higher tiers are usually fun too! Even if you can’t back a campaign or buy a book, you can share or tweet about these projects to your friends and followers.

On Indie Comics Showcase, we interview the creators, show off some art, and tell you how you can check out the product for yourself. Below we have some outstanding crowdfunding campaigns this week for you to learn about, enjoy, and hopefully support by backing one or more of them! Thanks for checking these out and for being the best part of Indie Comics Showcase. Let's jump in!

Shadowpunk
by Matt Simecek

Check out the campaign page here!

Chris Braly: Welcome to Indie Comics Showcase, Matt. Give me the elevator pitch for Shadowpunk.

Matt Simecek:  Detroit, or what’s left of it. Out of an Age of Chaos a New Evil rises to dominate the city and all those inside. Against all odds, one girl survives. Lost and alone she’s on a mission to find her family. Can she do it? Will she be strong enough to uncover the lies and break through the barriers in her way? Is she brave enough to bare the dark truths that await her?

This story begins the adventure that will take young Mera from the very top of the city down into it’s dark underbelly. But she’s not alone. A Small Resistance has gone into hiding, waiting for the day when they will emerge and fight back! Today is that day! Enter the World of Shadowpunk!

CB: Tell me where the idea for this comic came from, and what made you decide to self-publish it.

MS: Sure! The comic book actually came out of the animated movie I created about a girl traveling with her family in a dystopian future.  As a 2D and 3D artist, I utilized yjr 3D environments with drawing, vector inking and bold colors. So this creative process is a result of my working in the motion graphics industry.

YouTube Video

CB: What kind of comic reader is this best suited for?

MS: It’s aimed at everyone, but I’d describe it as PG-13+

CB: Do you have a creative team on this, or is it a solo project? And can you tell me a bit about the workflow involved?

MS: Yes, I’m the sole creator. I’ve been a working artist for around 25 years with my background in Motion Graphics, Compositing, Effects and 3d sculpture. I like to layout my scenes, very roughly in a 3d environment, using simple 3d rig stand-ins for the figures. If i have a lot of architecture, I’ll roughly build those in 3d as a template. I’ve completed ten drawn, inked, and colored pages on the book so far, and penciled and inked many more.

CB: So what are you learning from self-publishing and creating through this process?

MS: Promotion is vital. if no one knows about your work your project will not succeed.

CB: What are your plans beyond this book?

MS: Yes. I’d love to continue my Hero’s story for many issues to come.

CB: Thanks for chatting with me. Anything else you would like to share with our readers before we sign off? —

MS: Yes, my first day backers got a red foil trading card. And I also created a 3d figure of my central character Shadowpunk. It’s also available on my campaign. Please check it out!

Buffalo #2
by Elijah Crowe

Check out the campaign page here!

Chris Braly: Thanks for joining me on Indie Comics Showcase, Elijah. Hit me with your elevator pitch for Buffalo.

Elijah Crowe: It’s an Action/Adventure, Supernatural, Mature, Western comic.

Jarmane Warren is dead. He died in a cave in the Philippines while serving during the Moro Wars in 1898. However, the cave which was meant to be his final resting place happened to contain mystical artifacts brought there by Spanish monks 300 years earlier. These artifacts kept Warren alive, caught between the spiritual realm and the physical. Now Warren must find a way back to America, but when he finally returns, the new world is much different than the one he left.

We only need a relatively small amount of funding to launch Buffalo Issue #2, which will be a 32-page, fully colored, action packed saddle stitched floppy comic book.

CB: Where did the idea for this comic come from, and made you decide to self-publish it?

EC: From my head and the history of the Buffalo Soldiers. I decided to self publish because I wanted to control every aspect of our product. I am a passionate lover of comic books. Over the past decade I’ve felt, like many others have, that the mainstream comics have lost sight of what excited us fans about superhero comics. That’s why I want to run my own line of comics and create a cohesive universe.

CB: Tell us about your creative team on this project.

EC: The art is done by the talented Francesco Onorio (Spain) and the colors were done by Jonathan Lima (from Brazil). Francesco is an amazing artist who can take the information from my script and execute perfectly on paper. I couldn’t have a better, more in-sync artist who gets the material. Our colorist, Jonathan Lima is a work horse, cranking out pages before I can even blink. His colors and lighting techniques are fantastic. Love my team for Buffalo #2. As the writer, I find myself mostly using the things that have been in my head since a boy and during my time in the Army. I am still on active duty, going on 19 years.

CB: I know the first issue is complete. How far along is issue #2?

EC: We are five pages into Buffalo #2, and are currently on schedule to complete this book by October.

CB: What have you been learning from self-publishing / crowdfunding and creating through this process?

EC: It’s long. The end. No, seriously, I’ve learned that every penny is earned in sleepless nights, early mornings, and a ton of out of pocket expenses.

CB: Do you have any plans beyond this next issue?

EC: We will eventually make our universe building in a graphic novel that ties in our other books and coming characters/teams. I have a lot I want to do.

CB: Good luck, Elijah. Any final words you want to share with our readers?

EC: I just want others to get out the word to stop support the “big 2” and instead the thousands of talented indie creators.

CyberFunk Streetz
by Jeff Carroll

Check out the books here!

Chris Braly: Welcome to Indie Comics Showcase, Jeff. Hit me with your elevator pitch for Cyberfunk Streetz!

Jeff Carroll: Cyberfunk Streetz features three creepy stories which will make readers think. The stories answer three different questions about the future of human sexual relations. In the B.A.N.G.er Brothers the impact of virtual dating and socializing is the focus. The use of VR glasses and suits already allow to people the ability to look around a virtual world. First person shooter games give users the sensation that they are inside the game and companies like Tesla are already working on gloves and full body suits.  So, its not far away that we will soon have virtual interactions that will give people sensations that the same as if they were having a face to face interaction.

In the Programmable Man a program is developed that can turn the security robots into the ultimate love machines. Blow up dolls are already being used to so it's not hard to imagine that robotics will be the future of these love dolls.  The Ass Doctor speculates about the future of cosmetic surgeries. Butt lifts and breast implants are no longer things to be ashamed of. They are now spoken about openly. People are having them performed on television. Its not hard to imagine that in the future they will become so comment that they will be the norm. Cosmetic surgeons will be celebrated like rock stars.

CB: So where did the idea for this comic come from, and made you decide to self-publish it?

JC: I am a dating coach and sci-fi writer and one day I decided to think about the future of sex.  Then I thought of three themes. This comic is for nerds… sexually active nerds who like comics.

CB: Tell us about your style and creative process on this project?

JC: I start by telling people my ideas. Mostly, close friends, but sometimes strangers. Then I write them down. Then I write an outline and then the script. I made a mock late night TV show where I am the host. In between each story, I introduce one of the sponsors like it was a commercial break.  I had posters of the cover girl Cyber Bae and her partners.

CB: What can you tell me about your creative team that contributed to this project?

JC: For this comic I used three different illustrators.  Alan St Clark, Joey Martinez, Rolo Ledesma and Zebra Comics were all illustrators that I felt had unique styles that would fit the stories. The book was released in March.  It took about 6 six months to develop. I worked with the illustrators over the internet.

CB: What are you learning from self-publishing and crowdfunding through this process?

JC: People want comics that are different. They will respond well and help you develop your comic book if it is fresh and different.

YouTube Video

CB: What are your plans beyond this book? Are there more stories to tell?

JC: CyberFunk Streetz is like a cross between Black Mirror and Twilight Zone. CyberFunk Streetz follows Horror Streetz and Sci-fi Streetz and so I plan on continuing to explore these different groups of stories.

CB: Sounds cool, Jeff. Good luck!

Grab these books here!

Emma Roberts Joins Cast of Sony & Marvel Studios’ ‘Madame Web’

Posted: 29 Jun 2022 10:55 AM PDT

Emma Roberts is the latest addition to the ensemble cast of Sony Pictures' Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson. Also on board are Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced and Tahar Rahim for director S.J. Clarkson. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless penned the screenplay, with Kerem Sanga also penning a previous draft.

Sony had no comment.

In the Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man universe, Madame Web is depicted as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and thus was connected to a life-support system that looked like a spider web. Due to her age and medical condition, Madame Web never actively fought any villains. For that reason, sources have stressed it's possible the project could turn into something else. Insiders say that due to her psychic sensory powers, she is essentially Sony's version of Doctor Strange. Roberts' role in the film in unknown.

For Roberts, this will mark her first Marvel pic after recently wrapping production on upcoming romcom Maybe I Dowhich also stars Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon and Richard Gere. She also continues to be a go to for new seasons of American Horror Story, most recently appearing in American Horror Story: 1984.

Bucking the Trend: Paramount+ Won’t Censor Classic Programs

Posted: 29 Jun 2022 08:25 AM PDT

According to The Guardian, Paramount will not filter any content that some might consider to be controversial in any of the classic movies and television episodes on its streaming service. Paramount+, a subscription-based service, and instead will maintain the original versions of those classic works, according to Paramount CEO Bob Bakish, who spoke with the news source.

"By definition, you have some things that were made in a different time and reflect different sensibilities," he said.

Bakish added, "I don't believe in censoring art that was made historically, that's probably a mistake. It's all on demand – you don't have to watch anything you don't want to."

Bakish's comments come as Paramount+, which has already been active in the U.S., is set to debut in the U.K. today.

Other streaming services have also opted not to remove works with outdated content, including Disney+, which instead added content advisories to classic films they felt depicted racist stereotypes.

Those films featuring these disclaimers are "Dumbo," "The Aristocats" and "Peter Pan."

Marvel Writer Jason Aaron Served as Consultant on Thor: Love & Thunder

Posted: 29 Jun 2022 06:20 AM PDT

ComicBook  reports that one of Marvel Comics’ “wokest” writers, who spent the past decade dumbing down their output, also worked as a story consultant on the new movie starring Thor’s mortal girlfriend, Jane Foster:

One of the most prolific writers on Marvel’s Thor comics was a consultant on the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. The fourth movie in the Thor franchise is loosely based on The Mighty Thor comics that featured Jane Foster’s time as the Goddess of Thunder. Natalie Portman returns to reprise her role as Jane Foster, wielding a re-forged Mjolnir as our heroes fight Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. Jason Aaron was the writer of Thor/The Mighty Thor, and he revealed during a recent signing that he was consulted on Thor: Love and Thunder.

“A thunderous #SignatureSeriesSaturday with a quick message from writer @jasonaaron!” the CGC Comics Twitter account shared. “Aaron is here for his Private Signing, and we had to ask him about the topic that’s on everybody’s mind. Check out the video to hear what he has to say about the upcoming #ThorLoveAndThunder” A video was attached to the social media post, where Aaron shared his consulting role on the Marvel Studios project.

Ugh, this is truly dismaying, but hardly surprising, considering what a SJW he’s proven to be in the span of a decade.

So if it turns out the screenplay is dripping with woke ingredients, it’ll be expected, based on studio owner Disney’s recent track record. One more reason to avoid the new Thor sequel and stay far away from it. Aaron also created that supervillain called Gorr, and a character with a name like that is another reason to decidedly stay away; it’s just so revolting. More proof how much the Marvel movie franchise is continuing to deteriorate.

Johnny Depp’s Rep Flatly Debunks ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Return Rumor

Posted: 29 Jun 2022 04:45 AM PDT

After a report that musician and actor Johnny Depp was being courted by Disney with a $301 million offer to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean films, rumors abounded. According to the source, Disney also wrote Johnny Depp a letter of apology and was working on a script specifically for him.

This source asserted:

"Disney are very interested in patching up their relationship with Johnny Depp. They reached out to the actor prior to his defamation trial against Amber Heard and asked whether he would be interested in returning for another Pirates film or two. I know corporate sent him a gift basket with a very heartfelt letter, but I'm unsure how it was received. But what I can tell you is that the studio has already penned up a draft for a film about Jack Sparrow – so they are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character."

Yesterday, a representative for Depp released a four word statement in response:

"This is made up."

During the actor's defamation trial where he prevailed against ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor was asked by Heard's defense attorney Ben Rottenborn,

"If Disney came to you with $300 million dollars and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film?"

Depp replied:

"That is true."

The Jack Sparrow actor has repeatedly stated that he does not want to go back to the Caribbean, and franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer has stated that the actor is not currently being considered for any role in their current plans. The director also acknowledged that Disney presently holds two distinct screenplays for the movie Pirates. One of them purportedly has a Margot Robbie-played character and a cast that is predominately female. A terrible idea.

Meanwhile, Depp is getting ready to play King Louie XV in Jeanne du Barry, which will be his first film in a while, and has plans for a summer 2023 tour with his band the Hollywood Vampires. He has also just been spotted having a joy performing on stage with English rock musician Jeff Beck.
