The XIII remake is getting a giant update with improvements and multiplayer content this September Posted: 29 Jun 2022 03:00 PM PDT Remember the XIII remake? Boy, I sure do. It came out back in November of 2020 and quickly became one of the most panned games around. From copious bugs and other severe technical issues, to the fact that it was actually notably worse than the game it remade in nearly every way, things were quite cataclysmic for the title. Developer PlayMagic promised the game would be fixed. An update or two was released, but radio silence soon followed and it appeared that any interest in fixing the game was dead in the water. But publisher Microids revealed today that that’s not actually the case. The XIII remake is set to receive a major update with fresh improvements and multiplayer content soon. Developer PlayMagic, however, hasn’t been involved with XIII for some time. Instead, Microids has put Tower Five, developers of the strategy game Lornsword Winter Chronicle, in charge of the upcoming update and ports of the XIII remake. Microids has revealed that Tower Five has actually be...
DNF Duel review — Niche fighting game with simple results Posted: 29 Jun 2022 02:00 PM PDT Arc System Works is keeping the fighting game community full this year, with its continued support of Dragonball Z FighterZ, Guilty Gear Strive, and the re-release of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Even the forgotten Granblue Fantasy Versus is getting rejuvenated at EVO come August. With so many games vying for a spot in the competitive zeitgeist of the fighting game community, releasing another flashy fighter right now may seem a bit hasty. Either way, Arc System Works has delivered another solid anime fighter in the form of DNF Duel. DNF Duel shares a lot of similarities with other recent Arc System Works fighters. It boasts beautiful, anime-inspired graphics with flashy specials and supers, and it was designed to be approachable for beginners. Additionally, the game is relatively slow-paced and doesn’t have the same quick brawls like some of Arc System Works’ older titles. This all seems to be the recipe for success, and most Arc System Works games possess some if not all of...
Return to Monkey Island could be the last game in the series Posted: 29 Jun 2022 01:00 PM PDT During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, fans got to see the very first gameplay trailer of the anticipated Return to Monkey Island. Although the trailer led to some divisiveness amongst fans due to the game’s new art style, it otherwise showed a great deal of promise. With the rejuvenation of the series, many fans may be curious as to what future installments will look like. But as it turns out, Return to Monkey Island might just be the last game the series will ever see. The new interactive website that the developers of Return to Monkey Island revealed after the Nintendo Direct trailer appears to confirm this, at least at first glance. When clicking on the Overview page and scrolling down to the section with the subheading “Created By a Legendary Crew,” you can find a statement that labels the game as “the exciting conclusion to the Monkey Island series.” As of right now, the developers have not elaborated further on this statement. The sec...
Skull and Bones is reportedly launching this November Posted: 29 Jun 2022 12:00 PM PDT After years of tumultuous development, Skull and Bones might finally release on November 8. This date was shared by industry insider Aggiornamenti Lumia on Twitter and seemingly supported by Tom Henderson. Aggiornamenti Lumia also disclosed a number of Xbox listings that are apparently add-ons for the upcoming title. The post lists missions like “The Ashen Corsair” as well as a digital soundtrack and artbook. Skull and Bones has had some troubles in development, to put it lightly. It was first shown off at E3 2017, with a long gameplay trailer in 2018. However, since then, we haven’t heard anything about the game from Ubisoft directly. Instead, we’ve mostly heard about the title’s troubled development over the past couple of years. However, it seems that Skull and Bones may finally have its long-awaited release date. What’s up with Skull & Bones? For those unaware, Skull and Bones is a pirating adventure in development at Ubisoft Singapor...
Intel Raptor Lake i9-13900K sample allegedly appears with performance Posted: 29 Jun 2022 11:30 AM PDT An early peek at one of Intel’s next-generation desktop CPUs is making the rounds. The alleged leak is in reference to an engineering sample of Intel’s upcoming i9-13900K. Images were shared by @9550pro on Twitter after seeing images posted on the Chiphell forum by user Lordzzz. Along with the image of the upcoming CPU, there are also screenshots of CPU-Z which show off the processor’s specs. The Intel i9-13900K is likely going to be Intel’s flagship 13th-generation CPU. While you should take these images with an ounce of skepticism, a lot of what we’re seeing here lines up. Another aspect that adds some legitimacy to this is the leak that made the rounds a few weeks ago. Intel’s Raptor Lake lineup is likely to release sometime in September in limited volume, likely with high-end CPUs like i7s and i9s. Other models of the 13th generation processor lineup may release sometime later. Beyond that, there are sparce details regarding Intel’s ...
