Destiny 2 weekly reset time, changes, and schedule

Posted: 01 Jun 2022 03:38 AM PDT

Destiny 2 weekly reset time, changes, and schedule

A fresh Destiny 2 weekly reset is upon us. As a premier live service game, one of the main ways that Bungie keeps players coming back to Destiny 2 is with its weekly resets. These typically offer a content refresh across the space game's various planets, raids, and dungeons, along with minor bug fixes and changes to address outstanding player concerns. The reset often includes new seasonal mission content or updates to existing in-game activities for players who own the seasonal content. And, with ongoing weekly updates to the Nightfall, the Crucible playlist, campaign missions, in-game activities and bounties, there's more to track than ever.

The Destiny 2 weekly reset takes place every Tuesday at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT/ 6pm BST / 7pm CEST. There's often some server downtime around the reset time, so you should take note of that if you're unable to log into the game at precisely that time. Once the reset begins, you'll have a full week to explore all the changes before Bungie rolls out another set of changes on the same day and time the following week.

Here, we're offering Destiny 2 players a recap of all the weekly reset changes so you know what shiny new activities to prioritise while grinding for loot.

Razer Barracuda Pro review – premium sound, middling microphone

Razer Barracuda Pro review – premium sound, middling microphone

The Razer Barracuda Pro is the company's latest wireless gaming headset, acting as the flagship for its newly refresh line-up of cordless cans. Priced at $250 USD, Razer is betting big on its active noise-cancelling technology and new TriForce Bio-ceullulose 50mm drivers to deliver an experience worthy of its premium price tag. Thankfully, it's mostly succeeded in doing just that, but not without some notable shortcomings.

When I first laid eyes on the Razer Barracuda Pro, I sighed with relief at the lack of RGB and other aesthetic features typically associated with gaming headsets (which have no business being anywhere outside a gaming PC setup). Razer has adopted a more subtle design language here compared to its other devices, with logos that blend into the black headband and earpieces. Look closely, however, and you'll find a cheeky splash of trademark neon green surrounding the microphone's mute toggle.

The shape of these new cans most closely resembles the company's Razer Opus headphones, which were themselves clearly inspired by the Sony WH-1000XM3. While I haven't had chance to sit down with the Opus, I use a pair of 1000XM3s as my daily drivers and think Razer has done a great job of emulating the style and best parts of its rival.

What is the Destiny 2 Timelost weapon this week?

Posted: 31 May 2022 04:44 PM PDT

What is the Destiny 2 Timelost weapon this week?

Want to know what this week's Destiny 2 Timelost weapon is? Much like the Destiny 2 Nightfall weapons, every week a new Timelost weapon becomes available. They're essentially better versions of the basic Vault of Glass weapons, with an extra third and fourth perk slot and a slot for Adept weapon mods.

To get this week's Destiny 2 Timelost weapon, you will need to complete its particular challenge in the Vault of Glass on Master difficulty. You can check out our Destiny 2 Vault of Glass walkthrough for tips on how to beat it. Five encounters in the raid have a challenge associated with them, which is basically an extra condition to meet when completing the fight (for example, the 'Wait For It' challenge on Confluxes requires you to wait until the Wyverns have started sacrificing themselves before you kill them).

On normal difficulty, completing a challenge grants bonus loot, but on Master, this is how you get your Timelost weapon. Only one challenge is 'active' per week, and they rotate with the weekly update every Tuesday at 1pm EDT / 10am PDT / 6pm BST.

What is the Destiny 2 Legendary Lost Sector today?

Posted: 31 May 2022 03:14 PM PDT

What is the Destiny 2 Legendary Lost Sector today?

Are you looking for the Legend or Master Lost Sector locations in Destiny 2? While many Destiny 2 Exotics can be bought from Xûr or even in the world loot pool, the Exotics in these special Lost Sector instances cannot, forcing players to explore these dangerous areas if they want the best equipment available. To make matters worse, you have to complete them on your own to get a chance at the best rewards.

The Destiny 2 Legendary Lost Sector location changes with the daily reset at 5pm UTC. Before you can take on Legend Lost Sectors, you need to complete all the normal Lost Sectors first. If you don't, the new Legend Lost Sectors will not appear on the map. Each day, the location, modifiers, and rewards rotate out for something new. As of Season of the Risen, the Legend and Master Lost Sector quests both take place in the same location.

It's important to remember that Exotic drops are not guaranteed after completing these quests, so you may have to run through the same Lost Sector multiple times. You can go through them quests with a fireteam, but your rewards will be reduced to Enhancement Cores only.

Destiny 2: what is the Nightfall weapon this week?

Posted: 31 May 2022 03:00 PM PDT

Destiny 2: what is the Nightfall weapon this week?

Want to know what this week's Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon is? Each week you've got a chance at a different weapon for completing Nightfall Strikes, and ever since Season of the Lost, fan-favourite legacy weapons from the original Destiny have been added to the rotation. Two new weapons were introduced into the pool in Season of the Risen, so it's more important than ever to know in advance the Nightfall weapon schedule.

In case you don't know what the Destiny 2 Nightfall weapon means, Nightfall: The Ordeal is a playlist available in the Vanguard menu, alongside the basic Strike playlist. Each week, a different Strike is chosen as the Nightfall, and offered in five escalating difficulties, with harder enemies, challenging modifiers, and enemy power levels cranking up.

The coveted Nightfall weapons have a chance to drop from any Nightfall Strike difficulty, but it's far more likely at higher levels. Your best bet for farming each week's Nightfall weapon is to set the Strike to Master difficulty, according to YouTuber Aztecross. You should also note that there's no automatic matchmaking above Hero difficulty, however, so you'll need to get a squad together.

SnowRunner Season 7 adds rally racing and a dirt circuit

SnowRunner Season 7 adds rally racing and a dirt circuit

The trucks in SnowRunner work hard, which of course means they like to play hard, too. SnowRunner Season 7 heads to Tennessee, dropping the truck game's usual task-based hauling jobs and trading them in for some good old-fashioned dirt racing.

SnowRunner Season 7, Compete and Conquer, is available to everyone who owns the SnowRunner Year 2 pass, and it adds a new four square kilometre map set in the woodsy region of Burning Mill, Tennessee. It's set up for the backwoods equivalent of the Forza Horizon festival, with tracks laid out through the forest and hot air balloons lazily hanging in the air.

Season 7 also adds two new vehicles to the SnowRunner fleet. There's the Spinter 43-19, which is a Dakar-style truck designed to be able to speed along even under punishing weather and road conditions. The second new vehicle is the swift Gor BY-4, a lightweight scout car that should prove up to the task of mapping out the Burning Mill wilderness. All SnowRunner owners, whether they own the Year 2 pass or not, also get 10 new exterior stickers for their existing truck fleets.

God of War PC update adds AMD FSR 2.0 support

God of War PC update adds AMD FSR 2.0 support

AMD rolled out the latest version of its Nvidia DLSS competitor technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0, earlier this month, and now, the latest God of War PC update - patch 1.0.12 - adds support for that tech into the stunning action-adventure game. AMD says this version of its image upscaling tech can produce "image quality that's practically indistinguishable or perhaps even better than native."

For God of War on PC, that means another option for running the game on a lower base resolution, freeing up system resources for higher framerates or additional visual effects, while maintaining the image quality of a high resolution display. While FSR 2.0 doesn't use the machine learning techniques employed by Nvidia's DLSS processes, AMD does use temporal data in its upscaling algorithm.

When FSR 2.0 first arrived on PC, it was only available for use in Deathloop. Now you can use it in God of War, and AMD says it'll be coming to at least a dozen more in the near future. Games like Anno 1800, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Baldur's Gate III, Farming Simulator 22, Far Cry 6, and more already support the first version of the technology.

WoW Shadowlands next update adds cross-faction parties

WoW Shadowlands next update adds cross-faction parties

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands update 9.2.5, which is out now as of May 31, grants the ability for members of the Alliance and Horde to join parties together for certain kinds of party activities. That means you'll be able to join cross-faction groups and parties and play alongside your friends in the MMORPG, even if they've sworn allegiance to your mortal enemies.

Shadowlands Update 9.2.5 is a significant patch, adding new questlines for Blood Elves and Dark Iron Dwarves, as well as the new Enigma Crucible PvP arena. All wings of Torghast, Tower of the Damned will be opened (instead of having only two wings open per week), and there's a redesign for the report player menu pane.

But perhaps the most significant change with this patch is the addition of cross-faction instances. It's not a free-for-all, mind, because the Alliance and Horde remain generally hostile to each other. However, if you have a friendship via BattleTag or Real ID with a player who is a member of the opposing faction, you will be able to invite them to a party once the patch arrives.

F1 22 PC version will include VR mode and better AI

F1 22 PC version will include VR mode and better AI

Summer is almost here, which means a new edition of the F1 racing game series is lining up on the grid. The F1 22 PC version arrives July 1, and this year's edition will include some spiffy new features, including a built-in VR mode on PC.

A new trailer for F1 22 showcases the additions coming with this year's edition of the official Formula 1 racing game. F1 22 supports the Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift headsets, but you can also play in two-player split-screen multiplayer mode if you prefer a more shared racing experience.

Codemasters and EA Sports have added some helpful new features that will benefit both new and veteran players, too. There's a new adaptive AI that's better able to tailor the challenge to an individual player's skill level, as well as a new accessible handling system that allows players to dial back on the complexity of F1 driving to find a point where they're comfortable. Of course, experienced F1 drivers will find plenty to dig into, too.

New FIFA 22 loot boxes consumer report cites “dark patterns”

New FIFA 22 loot boxes consumer report cites “dark patterns”

A report backed by consumer groups in 18 European countries labels loot boxes as "exploitative" and "predatory," citing Raid: Shadow Legends and FIFA 22 loot boxes as prominent examples of manipulative design aimed at convincing users to spend money. The report, authored by the Norwegian Consumer Council (NCC), concludes that the game industry has "largely evaded regulatory scrutiny" and proposes regulation to enforce better practices.

The loot box report is certainly not the first of its kind, with a University study calling loot boxes "akin to gambling" in 2021. This latest document, supported by consumer groups including the European Consumer Organisation, breaks down elements of loot box design and marketing, speaking to the "almost non-existent" friction of making a digital in-game loot box purchase.

It combines this with discussion of commonly employed psychological techniques such as FOMO (fear of missing out), the sunk cost fallacy (believing you should keep investing so as not to 'waste' past investment), and survivorship bias (when focus is placed on the few members of a group who have success from loot box gambling instead of considering the bigger picture).

This Lego Minecraft stop motion short is adorable

Lego Minecraft combines two things that go together so very well. You don't have to believe us; we can show you. Someone already put an ungodly number of hours and bricks into making this Minecraft piston out of Lego. Plus, you can have all of your digital Lego dreams come true by using this Minecraft mod that turns mobs into Lego figures. See, told you, the two just work.

Today we're bringing you another real-life bit of art, with some animation. GoodSirCompany on Reddit uploaded a cute clip of their first-ever Lego Minecraft stop motion animation. It has a player character clad in black armour running up to an unaware skeleton and smiting them. It's a nice little bit of work and, while it has a few rough edges, it's got a nice smoothness to the combat.

It's also full of wonderful little details. One of the most impressive is the fire, which constantly flickers to really help cement the feeling of movement throughout the mini diorama. For the eagle-eyed, you'll also notice a cameo from something suspicious in the background too. Who doesn't love a good cameo?

Oculus Quest 2 may be challenged by a VR headset from Apple

Oculus Quest 2 may be challenged by a VR headset from Apple

The Meta Quest 2 (formerly Oculus Quest 2) is undoubtedly one of the best VR headsets that you can buy today, despite facing fierce competition from the likes of the Valve Index. However, Apple may be looking to take a bite out of Meta's market share in the VR space with its own virtual reality device and operating system.

Parker Ortolani took to Twitter to share some trademark filings for 'realityOS' which possibly indicate that Apple plans to reveal its Oculus Quest 2 competitor at its WWDC conference on June 6 (via UploadVR). Ortolani points out that the company "typically files trademarks for products announced at WWDC a day or two after the keynote", and we're inclined to agree with their assessment that "this would be one helluva coincidence."

The term 'realityOS' has been appearing in Apple source code since the beginning of this year, but these filings further indicate that we'll see it used in a VR system as the trademark pertains to "wearable computer hardware."

Xbox Game Pass June games include Assassin’s Creed Origins

Xbox Game Pass June games include Assassin’s Creed Origins

The first batch of Xbox Game Pass June games for PC are now confirmed for the first two weeks of next month, including one of the best Assassin's Creed games and a collection of some of the best ninja games ever made.

The next two weeks kick off a Ubisoft-heavy start for PC Game Pass in June, with two major games from the publisher. The previously announced Assassin's Creed Origins is the obvious headliner, which Ubisoft teased earlier this week. For Honor: Marching Fire Edition also hits later this week, giving subscribers a taste of Ubisoft's other Viking game.

Microsoft also says that it has made "improvements" to the Xbox app on PC to allow users to find and install Ubisoft Connect games more easily. The non-Ubisoft games are not to be sniffed at, either, as the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection arrives on June 2 - which includes the entire trilogy. However, as usual, all this goodness comes at a cost – Greedfall, Limbo, and more will leave Game Pass on June 15.

The Division 2 update “recalculates” players’ progression

The Division 2 update “recalculates” players’ progression

The latest Division 2 update, TU 15.1, makes an important correction to the new expertise system that arrived with Season 9. The expertise system, which involves gaining proficiency ranks in pieces of gear players have equipped, was awarding too many points based on kill XP, Ubisoft has said. Now that XP award has been recalculated, and players who have been active during this season will likely see their expertise levels drop in the MMORPG.

The Division 2's new expertise system works like this: you earn proficiency ranks in all the gear, weapons, and skills your character uses in combat, or by donating multiple copies of an item, until you reach rank 10, at which point an item can be upgraded. An agent's expertise level is determined by how many items they're proficient in, and that level in turn determines how many times they can upgrade a piece of gear.

The problem was that expertise is meant to cap out at level 20, but players had found that they could increase their expertise beyond that. Ubisoft says this would cause significant long-term balancing issues for The Division 2, and has thus recalculated the 'value' of kill XP in proficiency rank progression.

Rumoured Starfield like space game from Crysis 4 dev is fake

Rumoured Starfield like space game from Crysis 4 dev is fake

May 31, 2022: Crytek tells PCGamesN that it has "never worked" with this artist and the pictures are not from them.

Concept art for a supposed "unannounced Crytek triple-A project" appeared online, supposedly showing the next game from the studio behind Crysis 4 and Hunt: Showdown - which looks a lot like a space game, and more than that, a mix of Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077.

Other than the still-popular Hunt: Showdown, the only upcoming game announced by Crytek is Crysis 4, which was revealed earlier this year and was recently confirmed as being led by an ex-Hitman and Far Cry 3 developer. Unless the team is going in a far more sci-fi direction, some purported leaked artwork may be the first at another new Crytek game.

As posted on Behance by environmental concept artist Anıl Gündüz (via Reddit), four pieces of their futuristic artwork are stated to be part of the "project vision" for an "unannounced Crytek triple-A project". The first shows a man in a spacesuit looking at a giant in a tube, the second a Cyberpunk 2077-style city, and the last two show very Starfield-like colonies in outer space.

Starfield compendium is a vault of information and theories

Starfield compendium is a vault of information and theories

One particularly industrious Starfield fan has put together a Starfield compendium featuring everything they could get their hands on relating to the space game. Bethesda's next game, which legally becomes 'Starfield' in June, is under constant scrutiny by fans looking for new information - to the point they've been staring at doors in search of clues.

The massive 120 page compilation on the space RPG game put together by Gokamo features trailers, screenshots, concept art, interviews, Reddit Q&As, leaks, and more. The document is reasonably conservative in approach, making it clear what information has been garnered from where, and when they are merely speculating versus providing confirmed details.

Individual graphics are broken down in great detail and compared with details from interviews and aspects of Bethesda Games' previous work in series such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. In particular, Gokamo analyses interviews from Todd Howard and other Bethesda staff to pick out particular chunks that sound important. One such quote given at Develop Brighton 2020, for example, talks about the team "pushing procedural generation further than we have in a very long time."

Elden Ring enemy randomizer mod is out and may work in co-op

Elden Ring enemy randomizer mod is out and may work in co-op

Out of all the great Elden Ring mods coming to FromSoftware's RPG game, the Elden Ring enemy randomizer mod is probably the most terrifying. Back in April it was confirmed to be in the works, and now it's finally here - and it's reported to work in co-op, too.

There are many fantastic game randomizer mods on PC but the ones for Dark Souls-like games are the most intense. Modder Matt 'thefifthmatt' Gruen previously released an Elden Ring item randomiser mod but promised that a combined mod that randomised both items and enemies was in the works.

Well, it's out now and can be downloaded at Nexus Mods. If you downloaded the item randomiser, this is an update for that same mod. The mod randomises "items found in the world, shop items, enemy and boss drops, and character starting loadouts," although all of it can be customised via a simple options box - so if you want the mod to replace every single enemy in the game with the toughest Elden Ring boss, you can do so (see below).

It could possibly be the next 2.8 update as the Inazuman detective has now been officially announced via the Genshin Impact Twitter account.

PUBG 18.1 ranked season release date, Paramo map is back

PUBG 18.1 ranked season release date, Paramo map is back

PUBG Battlegrounds players can try out the latest update for the battle royale game today by jumping into the PC test server, ahead of the arrival of the PUBG 18.1 ranked season release date. The new patch, which is due to release on June 8, also changes up the map rotation slightly and increases item spawn rates to increase healing potential in the multiplayer game.

The patch brings the start of PUBG Battlegrounds ranked season 18 when it launches on live servers next week, and also switches up the map rotation and frequency. Those playing normal matches will notice that Vikendi is gone again, with the snowy map leaving to make way for the return of Paramo's active volcano environment alongside regulars Erangel, Miramar, Taego, and Sanhok. Paramo has seen some slight tweaks to add additional rocks and cover, along with a unique-looking spiral well.

The ranked map rotation has been tweaked slightly to increase the odds of players parachuting onto Taego, with a split of 40% of games on Erangel, 30% on Miramar, and 30% on Taego. Rewards from ranked season 17 will also be available to claim once ranked season 18 is underway and must be claimed by the end of the season.

Genshin Impact tier list May 2022: the best characters in 2.7

Genshin Impact tier list May 2022: the best characters in 2.7

Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 49 Genshin Impact characters available, so there's no shortage of candidates for your dream team. But with so many different weapon, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellations upgrades, finding your favourites can be challenging.

Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. That being said, if your favourite character is in C tier or below, you may struggle to get past some of the more challenging Spiral Abyss floors. Don't worry too much if your favourite character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds.

In general, being on a high tier means that the character is the best Genshin Impact character in their role, is not too difficult to build, and performs well regardless of teammates. Being on a lower tier means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine. Just to note, the characters are not ranked within their own tier, and with that out of the way, let's take a look at our ranking of characters in our Genshin Impact tier list!

The best Destiny 2 Solar build after the 3.0 subclass rework

The best Destiny 2 Solar build after the 3.0 subclass rework

Looking for the best Destiny 2 Solar 3.0 build for your subclass? The space game's new Solar rework introduces a number of new ways to customise your character if you're using the Dawnblade, Sunbreaker, or Gunslinger subclass. However, with so many possible grenade, melee, super, and special ability combos, which you can further enhance with fragments, it can be tough to figure out what the best build for your Guardian is. In addition, Destiny 2 Exotics and other perks can enhance the build, so there are heaps of possibilities.

The Solar 3.0 rework uses the same system of Aspects and Fragments as the Void 3.0 rework that launched with The Witch Queen. In case you're returning from a very long Destiny hiatus, Aspects affect a class-specific ability and also come with a number of slots that can hold Fragments. The effects from Fragments aren't quite as strong, but they're universal across their subclass. The best build boasts Aspects and Fragments that synchronise for massive buffs.

Join us as we list our picks for the best Destiny 2 Solar build following the arrival of Season of the Haunted.

The best anime games on PC 2022

The best anime games on PC 2022

The best anime games for PC are as wildly varied as the Japanese film, television, and manga from which they are inspired. Whether you fancy being trapped in a school with a sadistic remote-controlled bear, defending yourself from gargantuan humanoid monsters, or joining a book club with a dark side, there are plenty of anime games for PC to choose from in 2022.

We've got everything from the biggest games based on Japan's hottest export shows, through the finest JRPGs, to anime MMOs influenced by the signature anime style. Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, and Naruto are all present and correct, plus a few other gems you may not have heard of before.

This list is especially good if you're looking for your fix of this distinctive form of Japanese animation, but find your wallet can't stretch to full price triple-A releases. If you're after free anime games, look no further than the charming, vibrant open-world of Genshin Impact or beloved and increasingly popular anime MMO FFXIV, which just received a new expansion called Endwalker.

This MMO survival game is Ark but you play as a dinosaur

There's a new survival game coming that's basically Ark: Survival Evolved except you play as the dinosaurs. Path of Titans is a fun-looking indie game where you take on the role of one of several dinosaurs and try to survive in a pre-human world - and there's a beta coming this summer.

There are a lot of great dinosaur games on PC, from Ark to Jurassic World Evolution 2, but very few where you actually get to play as a dinosaur. Path of Titans, from Australian indie developer Alderon Games, is a cross-platform survival MMO game where players roleplay as one of over 30 potential dinosaurs in a big sandbox game environment.

A very early access version of Path of Titans has been available on the developer's website for a little while, and the team is now planning a beta for launch this summer across "PC, mobile, consoles, Mac and Linux", with the "first of several" 8 x 8 km maps available and more to come later.
