| Cyberpunk 2077 mod enhances GPU visuals using AMD FSR 2.0 Posted: 28 Jun 2022 03:55 AM PDT Cyberpunk 2077 works with AMD FSR 2.0, thanks to the efforts of modders and the software's open-source nature. While the 3rd party upscaling solution isn't optimised for the dystopian shooter, it should help gaming PCs achieve better image quality at a slight cost to performance. Tested by Techpowerup, the Cyberpunk 2077 mod uses existing Nvidia DLSS files to enable AMD FSR 2.0 support, as it piggybacks off of its competitor's algorithm. The publication notes that all DLSS-compatible releases should, in theory, support the FSR mod, but some games will require manual tweaking. Using FSR 2.0 does come with performance caveats, but the software still enables players to boost fps and enhance image quality. Techpowerup notes marginal frame rate drops compared to FSR 1.0, something that results in noticeably sharper visuals. Unfortunately, the mod also includes some quirks, as driving a car produces a ghosting effect. RELATED LINKS: Cyberpunk 2077 review, Cyberpunk 2077 lore & universe, Buy Cyberpunk 2077 |
| Halo Infinite desync is still broken as devs are “allocated” elsewhere Posted: 28 Jun 2022 03:29 AM PDT If you've tried to hit anyone in a Halo game recently, you'll notice the long-running Halo Infinite desync problem - which particularly affects melee combat - is still an issue in the multiplayer game. According to 343 Industries, the reason this hasn't been fixed is that the team is "allocated to other Infinite work." Halo Infinite Season 2 kicked off in May, and there are a lot of great additions coming to Microsoft's premier FPS game soon - such as Forge mode and campaign co-op. However, one problem that's been affecting the multiplayer side since pretty much launch is a network desync issue that messes up hit registration - particularly with melee attacks, which are the best part of Halo. Given the range of problems Season 2 launched with, it's a little surprising that this well-documented issue still isn't fixed. In a new comment on Reddit, Halo Infinite developer 343_Taxi explains that the "lack of UCN (networking) improvement" is because "the devs that would work on these fixes have been allocated to other Infinite work." | Call of Duty: Warzone hacker caught with unreleased NFL skin Posted: 28 Jun 2022 03:26 AM PDT Call of Duty: Warzone season 4 is well underway, with players descending on Fortune's Keep in search of the best loadouts, and those coveted golden keycards. But more is still to come, including, perhaps, a stylish NFL-themed skin, as spotted by one eagle-eyed Redditor. RELATED LINKS: Warzone loadouts, Best AR in Warzone , The best guns in Warzone |
| Intel Raptor Lake i9 CPU sneaks onto gaming PC black market Posted: 28 Jun 2022 02:52 AM PDT Next-gen Intel Raptor Lake CPUs are expected to arrive later this year, but an engineering sample has already popped up on the black market. While the 13th gen pre-release chip should be heading back to team blue HQ, it was sitting pretty on a Chinese auction site, complete with a surprising price tag. Spotted by Videocardz, the Intel Raptor Lake CPU in question is a Core i9-13900K. Packing eight performance cores, 16 efficiency cores, and 32 threads, the seller says the next-gen chip is fully functional. It's allegedly playing nice with an Asus Z690 ROG APEX motherboard and it even supports overclocking. As you'd perhaps expect, the seller has blanked out specific details relating to Intel's next-gen gaming CPU, including its Spec and QR codes. As a result, it's hard to tell whether this is a legit 13th gen i9. Nevertheless, a keen buyer has already snapped it up, and they seemingly only paid 2850 RMB for the chip (around $426 USD). | This Stardew Valley mod makes the Alembic even more lucrative Posted: 27 Jun 2022 04:08 PM PDT The newest Stardew Valley mod makes the farm sim even better by expanding on another mod that itself expanded the game. It's starting to get a bit meta, but considering the base asking price of Artisan Valley's extracts and oils, we certainly aren't complaining. The Purifier mod from Lanturnalis increases the quality of essential oils, extracts, regular oils, and perfumes, which is handy considering there aren't any other ways to do that so far. Artisan Valley lets you turn flowers into perfumes and beans and other plants into extracts, among other things, but you can usually only sell them for the same base price as the item you used to make it. | Sega announces first Two Point Campus DLC and a stream to be proud of Posted: 27 Jun 2022 02:40 PM PDT Sega announced the first Two Point Campus DLC and streaming event ahead of the game's launch later in summer. The DLC is the Pride Pack, which, despite being themed around Pride Month, will be available for free on console and PC when Two Point Campus launches on August 9, 2022. Sega also announced the developers will host a Two Point Campus livestream on June 28 to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and to raise and funds for Mermaids, a charity dedicated to providing support and assistance to transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse children and their families. | The latest Sea of Thieves Adventure kills Merrick – sort of Posted: 27 Jun 2022 11:57 AM PDT Forsaken Hunter is the next Sea of Thieves adventure, and it runs from June 30 to July 14. Rare announced the follow-up to May's Golden Sands Adventure in a new trailer for the high seas RPG, where we see Merrick, fresh off the triumph of his bid to rebuild Golden Sands, winds up in the land of the dead. A fellow dead sailor reminds him to step on board the ferry and return to the living before it's too late, but before Merrick can restore himself, two mysterious figures step out of the mist and stop him. Apparently, Merrick has information they want, and they're not about to let him leave before they get it. | Valve is doubling shipments to meet the Q3 Steam Deck release date Posted: 27 Jun 2022 10:48 AM PDT Your Steam Deck release date might be closer than you think. If Q3 is all you've seen since putting your initial reservation down, it turns out you probably won't have to wait until the fall after all. Valve posted an announcement on Twitter saying Q3 reservation emails will start going out on June 30, and the Steam maker expects it will take significantly less time to fulfill orders. Valve is able to step up manufacturing to the point where it predicts it will double the number of Steam Deck shipments each week compared to the output when the platform originally launched. | How to upgrade your PS5 or PC with the M480 Play SSD Posted: 27 Jun 2022 09:41 AM PDT If you're serious about gaming chances are you'll run into a little barrier we like to call 'not enough storage', even if you're using the biggest available MSI SSD. In the world of gaming, few things matter quite as much as storage space - especially given the way we use and abuse our machines day-to-day with hundreds of tasks and processes. Unless you've built your own and spared no expense, everyday usage can quickly start to weigh down your PC directly impacting the quality and quantity of your gaming experience. Even if you're careful with your downloads and keep to physical copies (which will still require installing), the slow buildup of memory-hogging files can clog your loading times and jeopardise your game speeds. And aside from avoiding procrastination and salvaging your bank balance, the only real issue when it comes to stacking up games on the PS5 is the size of the inbuilt memory. It isn't just games: the last few generations of Sony's best-selling console have doubled up as a media centre for videos, apps, social networks and streaming. All of which is great, but is sure to eat up that precious SSD space in mere months. RELATED LINKS: Best SSD for gaming, How to build a gaming PC, Best gaming CPU |
| The Epic MetaHuman Creator turns Fortnite’s Jonesy into a real boy Posted: 27 Jun 2022 09:37 AM PDT Fortnite is a cartoony game, and that light and entertaining visual style is what allows for crossovers, like bringing in classic anime characters like Naruto et al and for designing comic book characters like Spider-Man. The absurdity is often the point – and now that we've seen Jonesy, one of the most integral Fortnite characters around, as a real human, we know why that's for the best. | This Minecraft YouTuber built a working tank without mods Posted: 27 Jun 2022 11:00 AM PDT Minecraft allows players to build just so many things. Whether you want to build your own version of Elden Ring or create an in-game GIF, your options are unlimited. It's all about freedom, and the mix of different systems within the game allows for some out-there creations - like a working Minecraft tank. Good old Mysticat - who you may recognise from their impressive version of Crossy Road - woke up, chose violence, and built themselves a tank. If you've watched any of their content before, you'll probably already know the end result. The video shows Mysticat building the model for the tank, figuring out how to make it turn, and then driving it around. That's all stuff they've done before though - the most intriguing part of the video is undoubtedly how they figure out the firing mechanism. After some offscreen experimenting, they settle on using snowballs with a few extra commands to make them explosive, change the way gravity affects them, and even set them on fire for a bit of visual flare. | V Rising devs are considering angry mob PvE castle invasions Posted: 27 Jun 2022 09:13 AM PDT It seems like V Rising studio Stunlock is preparing to answer that age-old question: is it really a vampire game if there isn't an angry mob storming your gates? It seems like future V Rising updates might include just this, as the team is considering proper PvE castle invasions. Stunlock has offered a number of details for its plans leading up to the V Rising 1.0 release out of early access, including how there are "super exciting additions coming." It's even spoken about the endgame and the possible return of Dracula in a "Game of Thrones" type scenario. Now, in a recent interview with streamers Asmongold and Rich Campbell, Stunlock teased how it was planning to make the player's castle more "central" to the survival game "especially on PvE." At the moment, your V Rising base is more of a target for PvP attacks and the AI leaves you alone. That seems set to change, however. | Best wireless mechanical keyboard Posted: 27 Jun 2022 09:03 AM PDT Using the best wireless mechanical keyboard is a great way to cut the cord while embracing the benefits of clicky or linear switches. Sure, wired gaming PC peripherals have their perks, but untethered companions come with fewer caveats than you'd expect. The latency horrors of early wireless gaming keyboards are fading into the past, and some can even free up a USB port to help you manage cables at your gaming desk. There are a few things to consider when it comes to wireless mechanical keyboards, as they come in various shapes, sizes, and specs. For starters, some cordless contraptions can connect via Bluetooth for greater device compatibility, with others hook up to gaming laptops and PCs using a 2.4Ghz wireless dongle. If you're into PC gaming on the go, you might also want to consider a smaller set of keys that you can stow away in your backpack, while couch lovers might prefer something that's compatible with a lapboard. To help you in your clicky clacky quest, we've compiled the best wireless mechanical keyboard candidates into a handy list, including options by Logitech, Razer, Corsair, and Epomaker. | Steam Deck finally gets Switch style dock, but not from Valve Posted: 27 Jun 2022 08:54 AM PDT The official Steam Deck dock is still missing in action, but there's now an alternative that could check all the boxes. Not only does the portable powerhouse accessory almost look like the real deal, but it's equipped with all the ports you'll need to transform the handheld into a desktop gaming PC. Created by Jsaux, the third-party Steam Deck Dock is designed specifically to work with Valve's handheld. While you might be tempted to pick up a compatible hub, this specific accessory cradles the portable while providing it with HDMI, 100W power delivery, two USB 2.0 ports, and ethernet. It also features an angled USB-C cable, so you won't have to worry about angled connectors or having to manage cables. There are plenty of USB-C solutions out there that will help you connect the Steam Deck to a TV or gaming monitor, but this dock almost looks like Valve's delayed accessory. Many branded options aren't built to caress the Deck's caboose while it's hooked up to your screen and peripherals, and cheap cradles lack electrical innards. You could opt to 3D print a custom-made dock, but if getting crafty isn't your bag, you might want to check out Jsaux's take. | The best Minecraft texture packs Posted: 27 Jun 2022 08:31 AM PDT Looking for the best Minecraft texture packs for the Java Edition? Minecraft's low-fi charms were predictably the first thing modders took to 'fixing'. The ruddy textures, while distinctive, are an obvious target for an upgrade if you stare at them long enough. While Mojang has been gradually revamping the aesthetic appeal of Minecraft, particularly with the introduction of Minecraft Ray Tracing, if you're chasing a specific look, then texture packs are your best bet. We've compiled this list of the best Minecraft texture packs in one handy location. There's nothing too crazy here, as massive visual overhauls tend to be part of more extensive Minecraft mods that fundamentally change the game, but that's another article entirely. One thing to note is that this list of the best Minecraft texture packs is for the Java Edition of Minecraft, which you can access via the new PC launcher, so if you're using the Bedrock Edition, you're likely to run into some issues. It's worth mentioning these Minecraft texture packs will work on the Java version you can find in the PC Game Pass version. Below is a fantastic selection of texture packs that give Minecraft altered visual styles, from the ultra-realistic to the cartoonish, to far-out sci-fi and subtle makeovers. | The best Warhammer 40,000 games on PC Posted: 28 Jun 2022 03:01 AM PDT So, you want to know about the best Warhammer 40K games in 2022? While Games Workshop's licensing history has been a bit sporadic, the grim darkness of the far future is one place the company has consistently experimented with in terms of digital adaptations. Some of the best Warhammer 40K games are from decades ago, but after a brief wobbly spell in the middle, we're finally getting some decent digital grimdark adaptations of the physical tabletop game, but we're also being treated to space games and even action-adventure RPG games as well. We're not here to highlight our ancient battle-brothers of 40k games of yore - they've had their time in the sun. | F1 22 review – buckle up, we’re really in the EA era now Posted: 27 Jun 2022 08:00 AM PDT The essence of our F1 22 review hits me on turn eight at Canada. Two seasons into my career, making my step up from F2 to join Alfa Romeo in the big leagues for 2022, I'm battling for 13th with Kevin Magnussen's Haas. It's a grey day in Montreal, and we don't have the pace we need because 100% of our upgrades through the season have failed development and needed re-developing. I have a train of cars behind me who clearly have better pace, but whose governing AI won't quite let them overtake. It occurs to me, as I lose another two tenths to Kevin on the corner exit struggling for traction: I'm not having much fun. RELATED LINKS: Best racing games, Best truck games, Simulation games |

| Sci-fi Genshin Impact like Tower of Fantasy hits Steam in 2022 Posted: 27 Jun 2022 07:27 AM PDT Considering the phenomenal success of Hoyoverse's Genshin Impact it's a wonder why more developers haven't attempted to replicate the RPG game's accomplishments, but Tower of Fantasy is giving it a try. The team has now narrowed down the Tower of Fantasy PC release date for Steam and the Epic Games Store - and you can pre-register now too. Tower of Fantasy is an open-world game in an anime game style that, let's be honest, has obviously been inspired by Genshin Impact. While it's still a fantasy game in a colourful shared-world environment, Tower of Fantasy leans a little more into sci-fi and has some neat ideas - like a jetpack that turns into a Tron-like bike, which every game needs to have. |
| Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti could be Metal Gear meme dummy thicc Posted: 27 Jun 2022 07:30 AM PDT Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti renders have emerged online, and the green team's next best graphics card could feature a very chonky cooler. The images provide a side view of the GPU, including its shroud and edge connector, and we reckon the clap of its cooler would alert the guards in Metal Gear Solid. Shared by YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead, the Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti mockup in question is based on a Founders Edition engineering sample. Aesthetically, the next-gen GPU looks similar to the RTX 3090, but it features a much thicker cooler that might take up 3.25 slots in your gaming PC. MLID points out that while the RTX 3090 takes up three slots, its cooler actually only takes up 2.75. So, while the current-gen support bracket will seemingly occupy the same space as the RTX 4090 Ti, the rest of the card is set to hog more room within your case. | GTA RP: the best servers and how to join them Posted: 28 Jun 2022 02:51 AM PDT What is GTA RP and how do you download it? All this will be familiar to anyone who has used Skyrim's Alternate Start mods - GTA RP allows you to join the game as a regular NPC as opposed to any of the main characters thanks to the installation of a mod. The trend of roleplaying has been around for years as it proves to be quite idyllic - instead of being thrust into the spotlight, you can live out a normal life and inhabit whatever character you'd like to be. So, what are the best GTA RP servers? If you're new to all this, it can prove to be quite daunting. You need to download the required mods to make it work, find and apply to join servers, and then figure out how to properly play the thing itself. On top of all that, you'll also come across a bunch of slang terms you may be unfamiliar with. To try and alleviate some of that stress, we've put together a handy starters guide to help anyone wanting to join in. RELATED LINKS: GTA 5 mods, GTA 6, Buy GTA V |
