| Koei Tecmo and Bekko Settled Their Copyright Lawsuit Outside of Court Posted: 03 Jun 2022 07:00 AM PDT
Koei Tecmo announced that it amicably settled a copyright dispute with Bekko Games outside of court. The company previously filed a lawsuit against Bekko's parent company, Hangzhou Jedi Technology Co., Ltd., for infringing its copyrights in January 2020. Koei Tecmo's new press release includes visual proof of copyright infringements that Bekko Games made in its own advertisements. The latter used screenshots from Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI and Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence in advertisements for Three Kingdoms: Overlord and Sengoku Fubu. Both titles are historical strategy games taking place in the Chinese Three Kingdoms and Japanese Warring States periods, respectively. Bekko Games acknowledged its mistake during the settlement process and apologized directly to Koei Tecmo. The Chinese mobile game publisher also promised to delete any images related to the infringement. Additionally, Bekko paid Koei Tecmo five million yen (~$38,300) as part of the settlement. Koei Tecmo is no stranger to court proceedings. In 2014, Capcom sued the company for infringing a couple of patents that the former had registered. The court proceedings ended in December 2020 in Capcom's favor after the Supreme Court of Japan rejected Koei Tecmo's final appeal. The court ordered Koei Tecmo to pay over 143 million yen (~$1.1 million) in compensation to Capcom. Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI came out for PC and PlayStation in 1998. Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence was released first on PC and PlayStation 3 in 2013. Both titles are available on Steam. Although Koei had an English localization of Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI on the PlayStation, its Steam release only features Japanese subtitles. | Sword Art Online Arcade: Deep Explorer Final Update Dated Posted: 03 Jun 2022 06:00 AM PDT
Bandai Namco announced that it will release the final update for Sword Art Online Arcade: Deep Explorer on June 7, 2022. The company also announced that the game's Japanese Twitter account will no longer post regular tweets after June 21, 2022. However, the arcade game itself will still be available to play for the foreseeable future. The new update will add the All-Star Season Match and Infinity EX Tower as new permanent game modes. It will also re-arrange the character collection list to show blank spots for characters that players can still obtain in the game's gacha pool. After the final update, Deep Explorer will no longer have time-limited gacha, shop, and events. However, players will still be able to access the permanent story episodes and towers. The regular gacha pool will also allow players to collect characters in the game's roster. Bandai Namco launched Sword Art Online Arcade: Deep Explorer in March 2019. The franchise's first-ever arcade game has a Diablo-like dungeon crawler gameplay system with a 3-player co-op. Before this final update, the company used to hold time-limited gacha and events that often featured exclusive versions of series characters, such as Kirito, Asuna, and Sinon. Sword Art Online Arcade: Deep Explorer is available on arcades in Japan. The post Sword Art Online Arcade: Deep Explorer Final Update Dated appeared first on Siliconera. |

However, Capcom has opened an official website for the Resident Evil 4 remake, which reveals that the game will also see a "reimagined" storyline. [Thanks, AestheticGamer/Dusk Golem!] The website states that the Resident Evil 4 remake will see a reimagined storyline, it will also feature more modernized gameplay elements. | Launcher Fights With Guns Blazing in DNF Duel Trailer Posted: 03 Jun 2022 02:00 AM PDT
The latest DNF Duel trailer focuses on Launcher, a new fighter set to join the game's roster on launch. The character is a long-range fighter capable of attacking opponents from a distance using a variety of weapons. The trailer also gives fans a glimpse at the character's move sets and playstyle. The character was previously teased back in March 2022, towards the end of the DNF Duel release date announcement trailer. As with all previous DNF Duel characters, Launcher was originally in Dungeon Fighter Online. Interestingly, Launcher's character design bears a close resemblance to that of Mechanic, another Gunner-type character from DFO. Despite the change in appearance, Launcher shares many of the same moves as her DFO counterpart. In addition to Gunner moves like BBQ and Marilyn Rose, Launcher will also be able to use her Quantum Bomb, Flame Pillar, Steyr AMR, and the X-1 Extruder. Furthermore, her finisher appears to be her DFO Awakening skill Ancient Trigger, where she uses a large cannon that shoots several laser beams at the enemy. You can check out the DNF Duel Launcher gameplay trailer below: https://youtu.be/kTbz8Ouj6z0 So far, Arc System Works has revealed 12 playable characters, including Berserker, Inquisitor, and Striker, among many others.
