The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition Will Return in 2022

Posted: 08 Jun 2022 03:00 AM PDT

Tomorrow Children Phoenix Edition

Q Games announced that The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will release in 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game is an updated re-release of the original The Tomorrow Children, with enhancements for the PS5. Notable additions include new islands, features, and items, as well as rebalanced gameplay. Unlike the original's free-to-play model, The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will be a premium title.

Kyoto-based developer Q Games released The Tomorrow Children in partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2016. The free-to-play PS4 title put players in charge of building a town in the Void, with the help of other players online. Less than a year after its release, Sony announced it would shut down the game's servers in 2017. This made it impossible for players to continue playing the game after the shutdown.

However, in late 2021, Q Games announced that it had struck a deal with Sony and acquired The Tomorrow Children IP. Q Games founder and director Dylan Cuthbert stated that the team would begin developing the game for the PS5, with new features planned. Some key changes include the removal of microtransactions and "reverting the game back to its intended design." Furthermore, multiplayer will be peer-to-peer to ensure the game is playable indefinitely.

The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will release sometime in 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. There is no confirmed release date or price.

Atlus Shows Off Soul Hackers 2 Collector’s Edition

Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition

As Soul Hackers 2 approaches its global release date in August 2022, Atlus West has dropped more details on the premium goodies available for fans willing to shell out for the Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition. The company unveiled the package in a Tweet, encouraging interested fans to subscribe to Atlus West's email newsletter for instructions on how to pre-order.

Atlus West also included a photo breaking down the included bonuses in the Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition pack.

Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition

The pack costs USD $199.99 and is limited to one item per buyer. It differs somewhat from the 25th Anniversary Edition available for pre-order in Japan. There are some similarities in the offering, though. The Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition comes in a branded box and includes the full game on the platform of the buyer's choice. The game will be protected by a steelbook case with custom art of Ringo. The 3" Ai-Ho figure from the 25th Anniversary Edition is included, but toy lovers will get an extra on top: A plushie of Mimi, a little drone belonging to Figue. A shark keychain, a set of character art cards, and five pins round out the physical offerings.

A soundtrack is part of the package, too, but is contained on a custom USB drive rather than CDs. It is unconfirmed if the soundtrack matches the tracklist seen in the Japanese 25th Anniversary Edition, or if the Ai-Ho and Maid Outfit DLC is included in the package. The 100-page booklet is also not included in the Collector's Edition.

According to Atlus West, supplies of the Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition are "extremely limited," and the pack will be sold exclusively through the Shop Atlus website. Pre-orders open on June 10, 2022.

Soul Hackers 2 will appear on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 25, 2022, in Japan. It will appear worldwide on August 26, 2022.

Biomotor Unitron, NGPC Classic, Shows Its Age On Switch

The latest NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection release, Biomotor Unitron, continues the line's diversification beyond its initial fighting game focus. Interested in checking it out? We'll break down what you need to know.

What is Biomotor Unitron?

Originally released on the Neo Geo Pocket and Neo Geo Pocket Color, Biomotor Unitron holds a special place in owners' hearts as something of a Pokemon competitor. It certainly isn't a one-to-one comparison, but the turn-based battling RPG gives players a lot of customization and a focus on facing off with friends.

In Biomotor Unitron, you outfit a mech with limbs and packs that affect abilities and stats. Navigation is largely menu-based, and the game encourages you to talk to townsfolk and hear their quips and advice. There's a bit of control in battle, but this is largely a challenge of preparation. The combination of parts and how you balance your equipped attack types determines victory.

biomotor unitron switch

How does it hold up today?

As NGPC games go, Biomotor Unitron has the most trouble with the limited screen resolution. There are a lot of menus, and those menus include short abbreviations you just need to learn. It's a lot like early Game Boy RPGs in that way, but its late-'90s peers had learned to fit more on screen or generally handle things better. It's a problem that the Japanese version of the game likely doesn't have, but English? English doesn't like those character limits.

Other than that? Yeah, you can have fun with it. Its more traditional gameplay means there's less of an incentive to play than Card Fighters' Clash or Faselei!, but it's an important part of the Pocket's library and we're glad more people can check it out. In some ways, Unitron was ahead of its time! Its gameplay loops and randomized dungeons feel modern, in a way. But you need a very old-school patience to stick with it.

biomotor unitron switch

What about the Switch version of Biomotor Unitron?

Well? It's about what you'd expect, we suppose, but with a couple of caveats. For one, the game's link functionality is disabled. We don't get the fancy setup of Card Fighters' port, nor do we get any sort of multi-system play. Also, for some reason, the coolest NGPC colors aren't available as display options? That's a weird one, because other releases had them in. Is it possible that this release was an earlier project but held until now? Also, it's hard to consider this new version without thinking about where your money is increasingly going.

Still, there are a few nice elements. The original manual is fully scanned, explaining elements of a game that really could use as much explanation as it can get. This is a game that wants you invested in its world and characters, but it simply doesn't have the text space to do so effectively in-game.

The NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection version of Biomotor Unitron is available now on the Nintendo Switch eShop. The game's also available on, well, the Neo Geo Pocket Color if you can find it! Other recent NGPC Selection titles have included SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash and Big Bang Pro Wrestling.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Aionios Trailer Shows Off Its World and Monsters

There's a new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 trailer specifically focusing on the world of Aionios and the monsters that inhabit it. It shows the more open areas of the game players will explore. There are also moments when it seems like places from the past games appear here. Also, it looks like a version of the Xenoblade Chronicles Unique Monster Territorial Rotbart even appears.

Here's the full Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Aionios trailer. Things immediately begin with an obscured look at the Fallen Arm. This location appeared in the first game. Different locations and environments show up after that. Around the 36 second mark, we see a monster that looks a little like Territorial Rotbart.

This is one of two bits of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 information Nintendo shared on June 7, 2022. The company also announced that a limited edition version would appear in the United States. It will sell a special edition, one previously announced for Europe, that includes the game, a SteelBook case, and an art book. That will only be available through the My Nintendo Store.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will come to the Nintendo Switch on July 29, 2022.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker Madara Uchiha DLC Trailer Appears

People can get a better look at the Madara Uchiha (Six Paths) DLC heading to Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Bandai Namco released a new trailer for the game's Season Pass 5. About half of the teaser is dedicated to showing how this version of Madara will behave in-game. This comes after the company shared a few screenshots showing off his appearance. The video also notes the new season pass will appear on June 10, 2022.

The segment looking at the Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker Madara Uchiha (Six Paths) DLC begins at the 33 second mark. First, there's a splash image showing the character's portrait. After that, it looks at some of his attacks. It begins with Sage Art: Shadow Style: Thunder Blast. After that is Limbo: Border Jail. That's followed by the Secret Technique Infinite Tsukuyomi.

There will be four other characters in Season Pass 5 in addition to Madara. While there were some silhouettes shown in an initial announcement, their identities weren't revealed.

Street Fighter 6 Game Face Lets People Set a Tone Before a Match

Street Fighter 6 Game Face Lets People Set a Tone Before a Match

Capcom revealed Street Fighter 6 will have a Game Face feature. This is a concept that lets people set a "tone" for a match before it starts. During the introduction, people will see the character's faces before they begin. By pressing the directional buttons, you can show different emotions.

Here's the video showing how Game Face will work in Street Fighter 6. It essentially shows a whole introduction to a fight. Luke and Ryu are going to face off against each other, and we see them walk to the stage together. Once the versus screen comes up, people see their faces. Someone can then press buttons to change their expressions. After that, we see Luke and Ryu's introduction at the stage proper.

We also already have an idea of who will be present to make these "game faces" in Street Fighter 6 at launch. A leak showed 22 characters who will be in the roster. Capcom later acknowledged that. At the same time, it mentioned the game will use RE Engine.

Street Fighter 6 will come to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2023.

See Baoh in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R Trailer Debuts

See Baoh in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R Trailer Debuts

The latest JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R character trailer is here, and this time it isn't even a person from the series. Rather it is the hero from Baoh: The Visitor, another Hirohiko Araki series. Now people can see how Ikuro "Baoh" Hashizawa looks in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R again.

Baoh appeared in both JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle and the R remaster. He's the only "guest" character in the game. In his original series, Hashizawa was kidnapped and turned into Baoh. The trailer shows some of his more notable abilities. For example, you can see him use his electrical attacks.

In case you missed some of them, here are the past JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R character trailers.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on September 2, 2022. A PS4 and PS5 demo is also on the way.

DNF Duel Troubleshooter Character Trailer Appears

DNF Duel Troubleshooter Character Trailer Appears

The next DNF Duel character trailer is here and reveals the Troubleshooter will appear in the game. This is an advanced version of a Dungeon Fighter Online character. In the original game, that character begins as an Agent, then can become a Hitman, Secret Agent, Specialist, or Troubleshooter.

As with the Dungeon Fighter Online appearance, the DNF Duel Troubleshooter character seems to rely on the same sorts of weapons. The trailer begins with him wielding his Square Sword and a shotgun. It also looks like he still attacks using his different kinds of bombs, just like he does in the original game. However, it seems like his bayonet is absent here.

Here's the full video. The official description refers to him as a "jovial menace of the battlefield."

This is the second new character to appear in June 2022. The Launcher will be a part of the game. However, the Launcher this time looks more like the Mechanic, another advanced version of the Gunner Dungeon Fighter Online class.

Prior to that, other elements of the game appeared. Some character illustrations showed up, for example. The Story Mode, Gallery, and Glossary features also were showcased.

DNF Duel will some to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on June 28, 2022.

salome hyakumantenbara

On May 24, 2022, Nijisanji debuted a new VTuber, Hyakumantenbara Salome. She is the first VTuber from Nijisanji to debut alone. According to her lore, she is a normal girl who dreams of being a perfect lady, which is why she occasionally slips out of her classic 'ojousama' way of speaking. After less than two weeks, Salome now boasts over 1,000,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel. As of the time of writing, she has approximately 1.03 million subscribers.

Salome is the third Nijisanji VTuber to have over a million subscribers. Other Nijisanji VTubers with a million subscribers include Kanae, though Salome is the only female Liver with this number. She achieved this in around 14 days, beating out Gawr Gura's record of 39 days. Salome is also the fifth fastest Japanese YouTuber to get a million subscribers, and is the first one from Nijisanji.

So far, Salome has played games such as Grand Theft Auto V and Resident Evil 7: Village. She has less than twenty videos on her YouTube channel as of the time of writing, with each stream lasting under an hour and a half. During her debut stream, she showed off images of her certificate of residency, as well as photos of her gastroscopy. She also did not download Resident Evil 7: Village and spent more than half of the stream labeling different prefectures in Japan.

Hyakumantenbara Salome posts videos on YouTube, and is on Twitter as well.

FFXIV 6.15 Patch Started Blocking Access From TLS 1.0 and 1.1

Posted: 07 Jun 2022 06:30 AM PDT

Final Fantasy XIV FFXIV Patch 6.15 Tataru

Final Fantasy XIV's Patch 6.15 is now live, and Square Enix has published the new patch notes on the FFXIV website. The patch added new quests, mounts, items, and furnishing. Most of the new content is available to players who have purchased Endwalker. However, one of the entries in the patch notes confirmed access restrictions that apply to many older 32-bit PCs.

The FFXIV Patch 6.15 started blocking connections from TLS 1.0 and 1.1. That would render the game inaccessible to most Windows 7 and Mac 32-bit PCs. Square Enix formally ended support for 32-bit operating systems with the release of Shadowbringers in Summer 2019. However, it still let the legacy OS users access the online game until Patch 6.15.

On May 17, 2022, Square Enix encouraged 32-bit OS users to add TLS 1.2 support ahead of the FFXIV Patch 6.15 release date. While TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are the standard protocols used in these legacy OS, the company decided to block their connections due to security concerns. The current version of FFXIV supports 64-bit Windows 8.1, 10, and 11 PCs with DirectX 11 and TLS 1.2.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. In February 2022, Naoki Yoshida shared a roadmap of FFXIV updates that goes until Patch 6.5. The next patch to 6.18 will bring in the Data Center Travel and balance updates for Frontline.

Netflix Shows More of One Piece Live-Action Cast, Baratie Set

Posted: 07 Jun 2022 06:00 AM PDT

One Piece Live-Action

A live-action One Piece series is in development under the aegis of Netflix, and the streaming giant's ongoing Geeked Week 2022 event gave fans a fresh look at the production. Star IƱaki Godoy, who plays Straw Hat Pirate Captain Luffy, and showrunners Steve Maeda and Matt Owens recorded a "sneak peek" at the physical sets being built for the show. Concept art for various locations and ships from the manga and how they'll look in the series was also shown.

Check out the teaser below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_zpkX3Z3hk

The sets are on location in South Africa, and the main one featured being built is a nearly full-size replica of Baratie, a massive floating restaurant. Baratie plays a large role in the One Piece live-action series, as it is one of the key locations of Luffy and crew's early adventures. The version of Baratie being built for the show is similar to the one in the manga, seen as a huge multi-storey restaurant with a giant, open fish's mouth and tail. The manga version is a little more like a large houseboat, though, while the live-action set has more ship-like features, such as a prow and aftcastle. There's a bar in the mouth of the fish, and it'll serve as a favorite spot of Zoro's in the episodes set on Baratie.

Other concept art and in-construction set shots showed physical set builds underway for places like Alvida's ship the Miss Love Duck, the Straw Hats' ship, Going Merry (a.k.a. the Merry Go), Partys Bar, in Luffy's hometown.

Netflix also confirmed more of the cast for the show in a separate tweet. The new roles include secondary characters like Klahadore the Butler, Mihawk the swordsman, Captain Morgan, and Nojiko, Nami's adoptive sister.

https://twitter.com/NetflixAnime/status/1533856253159452672

  • Klahadore - Alexander Maniatis
  • Mihawk - Steven Ward
  • Chef Zeff - Craig Fairbrass
  • Captain Morgan - Langley Kirkwood
  • Kaya - Celeste Loots
  • Nojiko - Chioma Umeala

The One Piece live-action series is in production, and will debut worldwide on the service. The manga is published in English by Viz Media, and creator Eiichiro Oda will take a one-month hiatus from the series later in June, returning on July 25, 2022.

Berserk Manga Serialization Will Continue Past Kentaro Miura’s Death

Posted: 07 Jun 2022 04:00 AM PDT

Berserk manga will go past volume 41

The Berserk manga series will continue even after the death of its original creator, Kentaro Miura. The Young Animal magazine editing department published a statement that confirmed the manga's continuation on publisher company Hakusensha's website. The Japanese page also includes translations into English, Korean, and Chinese.

Kouji Mori, a fellow Young Animal manga artist and close friend of Kentaro Miura's, was told about the overall storyline of Berserk through its conclusion. The two talked about the series in detail when Miura requested Mori's help to create the iconic Eclipse scene in the early 1990s. At some point after Miura's death, the late manga artist's apprentices contacted Mori and Hakusensha about continuing the story.

Kentaro Miura's apprentices will continue the Berserk manga as a collective group named Studio Gaga. Kouji Mori will supervise the group based on recollections of his conversations with Miura. Mori also declared that he will only write complete episodes and lines that he had heard directly from Miura.

Kentaro Miura started publishing his Berserk manga in Hakusensha's Monthly Animal House magazine in 1989. Its first standalone tankobon volume came out in 1990. By the time Kentaro Miura died in May 2021, the series had 363 chapters and 40 tankobon volumes published. Chapter 364, which Miura had written and illustrated prior to his death, was published posthumously in September 2021. The series' 41st tankobon volume was published in December of the same year.

Japanese game companies have also made several video games based on the franchise. The latest entry is Berserk and the Band of the Hawk, a hack-and-slash action game available on the PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and PC.

The 365th chapter of Berserk will appear in the 13th issue of Young Animal 2022. The new manga magazine will go on sale in Japan on June 24, 2022. The group will produce five more chapters afterward to conclude the current Fantasia Arc/Elf Island Chapter.
