The journey back to the desert planet of Arrakis may take longer than expected.

Variety reports that "Dune: Part Two," the second chapter in the Warner Bros. and Legendary sci-fi epic, has been postponed and will now open in theaters on Nov. 17, 2023 instead of Oct. 20, 2023.

On its new release date, the "Dune" sequel is scheduled to open in theaters alongside Lionsgate's "Hunger Games" prequel "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" and Universal's "Trolls 3."

Warner Bros. and Legendary, who co-produce "Dune" and other blockbuster franchises, also announced that an untitled "Godzilla vs. Kong" film will be released on March 15, 2024.

Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem are returning for "Dune: Part Two," with Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and Christopher Walken set to join the cast. Director Denis Villeneuve is expected to start filming the "Dune" sequel, which follows the second half of Frank Herbert's seminal novel, later this year.

Supernatural Thriller “The Pope’s Exorcist” to Star Russell Crowe

Posted: 02 Jul 2022 03:25 PM PDT

THR reports that Russell Crowe is set to star in The Pope's Exorcist, a supernatural thriller that Julius Avery, the helmer behind the 2018 horror movie Overlord, will direct for Screen Gems.

Crowe will portray real-life figure Father Gabriele Amorth, a priest who acted as chief exorcist of the Vatican and who performed more than 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime. (He passed away in 2016 at the age of 91.) Amorth wrote two memoirs — An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories — and detailed his experiences battling demons that had clutched people in their evil.

Screen Gems previously acquired the life rights to the chief exorcist from Michael Patrick Kaczmarek and faith-based media company Loyola Productions; the deal included rights to Amorth's two international best-selling tomes. Amorth also left behind other troves of detailed accounts of his exploits of pulling the devil out of people all over the world.

Producing are Doug Belgrad via his 2.0 Entertainment as well as Kaczmarek, who produces via his shingle, Jesus & Mary, Loyola president Eddie Siebert and Jeff Katz of Worldwide Katz.

A September start of production in Ireland is being planned.

Amazing: Did Andrew Garfield Sign a Multi-Picture MCU Deal?

Posted: 02 Jul 2022 12:55 PM PDT

According to Giant Freakin Robot, Andrew Garfield is still working with Marvel. Garfield is returning for more after his instantly iconic team-up with the Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire portrayals of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Our reliable source has revealed that the Oscar-nominated actor has agreed to return for additional Marvel movies.

Just last week, Kevin Feige all but confirmed what most Marvel Comics fans knew already — that the next big event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be based on the 2015-16 Marvel Comics mega-crossover, Secret Wars. Assuming the theatrical event is anything like the source material, it will require more alternate universe versions of established Marvel characters than ever.

When Marvel Comics relaunched both Avengers and New Avengers in 2013, Jonathan Hickman wrote both titles and he crafted a long-form story about the heroes facing something we heard talked about in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Illuminati of Marvel Comics secretly began protecting their reality against "incursions," i.e. instances of two timelines threatening to collide with one another, potentially destroying both. Ultimately only the 616 reality remained, and finally none at all. Then, with 2015's Secret Wars #1, Doctor Doom remade reality with himself appointed the ruler of Battleworld — the only world in his new reality — and renamed himself God Doom.

Which is where the reunion of Andrew Garfield and Marvel comes in. In the comic book event Secret Wars, everything revolves around seemingly endless variants of established Marvel characters co-existing on the same world. For example, God Doom's law enforcement is handled by the Thor Corps — a huge group of variant Thors all working together. There are Thors already introduced in earlier comics like Throg, Beta Ray Bill, Red Norvell, the Ororo version of Thor, etc. Then there are brand new ones like a Gamora Thor and a Groot Thor (who constantly says "I am Thor"). There is a savage realm of variant green, red, and gray skinned Hulks. There's a realm where the Marvel characters are all in a Western setting; one filled zombified Marvel characters; and multiple realms based on X-Men dystopian stories like Days of Future PastAge of Apocalypse, and Old Man Logan.

While I have not been able to confirm this rumor as of yet. Even if Giant Freakin Robot hasn’t always been reliable, they’re reporting this from a specific source they think has a strong track record. I’ll discuss the rumor since they’re prepared to bet their credibility on it. If this information proves to be accurate, Giant Freaking Robot would have scored a major scoop. Additionally, it may coincide with Marvel’s plan to surprise Spider-Man and Garfield fans on July 3rd, lending it some credence:

How do you feel about this rumor? Would you like to see Andrew Garfield make another appearance to complete his web-slinger trilogy? Tell me in the comments section below.

‘The Electric State’ on Netflix from Russo Bros. to star Millie Bobby

Posted: 02 Jul 2022 10:25 AM PDT

Netflix looks to be reuniting with some familiar faces as Deadline reports the streamer has come on to Joe and Anthony Russo's next directing feature The Electric State, which has Millie Bobby Brown set to star. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely adapted the script, with the Russos and Mike Larocca producing for AGBO. Chris Castaldi and Patrick Newall are also producing.

Rumors surfaced earlier this year that Chris Pratt was in talks to co-star. While a deal hasn't closed, sources say Pratt remains talks to board the project.

The film is based on adaptation of the graphic novel by Simon Stรฅlenhag and is set in a retro-futuristic past, where an orphaned teenager (Brown) traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother. Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Geoff Haley, Markus and McFeely are exec producing.

Deadline broke the news about the Russos teaming with Brown at the end of 2020 when Universal was circling the package. When deals couldn't be made, Netflix moved in fast to land the rights given their strong ties to both Brown and the Russos. The siblings' upcoming feature The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans bows next month and remains one of the biggest tentpoles Netflix has greenlit to date. That film bows in theaters July 15 and on the streamer the following week.
