Become Avatar’s next firebender in stunning Elden Ring mod Posted: 03 Jul 2022 10:12 AM PDT ![]() Fire can be one of the most dangerous forces in Elden Ring, but now a new Elden Ring mod lets you manipulate the flames to your own end in the spirit of firebending from the popular animated TV show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The mod for the RPG game features a full moveset inspired by the show, and even includes the ability to generate lightning - something typically reserved for only the purest-hearted wielders of the art. The 'Firebending moveset' Elden Ring mod is described by creator Clever, who goes by clevererraptor6 on Nexus Mods, as "a tribute to my favourite childhood show." The mod includes a complete moveset of light, heavy, rolling, sprinting, and jumping attacks - as well as attacks designed to be used from horseback. Using the one-handed moveset will give your character's attacks more range, while the two-handed moveset has slightly more of a melee focus. You can wield the scorching element in just about all the ways you'd imagine, from concentrated jets and sweeping lashes of fire to the ability to fling fireballs from both your hands and feet, just as characters do in ATLA. One really nice attention to detail for fans is the way that most of the moves are built around circular motions, which replicates the movements that firebenders tend to use in the show to draw out their power. Among Us matchmaking fix is “in the works” say devs Posted: 03 Jul 2022 09:53 AM PDT ![]() According to developer Innersloth, an Among Us matchmaking fix is "in the works." This comes as a response to complaints about the social deduction game having too many servers dedicated to roleplaying, with no way to tell them apart from regular game servers. In a post titled "about ready to quit" on Reddit, user TheRealDarkloud aired a few grievances, while admitting they are new to Among Us. "Why is it that 3/4ths of the servers are only for roleplayers," one reads, "resulting in people who want to play the game being booted immediately from the lobby?" Developer Innersloth actually replied to answer a few of these criticisms. Regarding the servers, the team says it understands player frustration in this matter. "It's one of those instances where we want to fix the public matchmaking," it states. "This is a larger task than just 'put people together in a lobby at random,' but it's in the works!" Minecraft now features a tribute to Technoblade Posted: 03 Jul 2022 09:01 AM PDT ![]() On June 30, Minecraft streamer and YouTuber Alex a.k.a. Technoblade passed away from cancer at the age of 23. Tributes have poured in, including from developer Mojang itself - which has also added a more subtle but sweet memorial to the streamer in Minecraft itself. As spotted by Fortnite leaker Santa 'iFireMonkey' Ricky and shared on Twitter, the header image on the Minecraft launcher has been subtly changed since Technoblade's sad passing on Thursday. There's always been a pig on the top-right of the launcher's image, but now the pig is wearing a crown - which was Technoblade's avatar, both in Minecraft and elsewhere online. Rocket League Birthday Ball event celebrates 7th anniversary Posted: 03 Jul 2022 08:48 AM PDT ![]() Astonishingly, it's now been seven years since car football game Rocket League came crashing dramatically into our lives, so developer Psyonix is celebrating the game's seventh anniversary with a new limited-time event called Rocket League Birthday Ball. The event is set to last for two weeks and is packed with limited time modes, special challenges, and of course plenty of birthday-themed cosmetics for the free-to-play game. The Rocket League Birthday Ball event is scheduled for July 6 - 19, and is split up into two weeks of distinct events. The first week, July 6 - 13, brings back fan favourite limited-time mode Heatseeker, where two teams of two go head-to-head in a showdown where the ball instinctively homes in on your opponents' goal after you hit it, demanding some real defensive prowess. In the second week, July 13 - 19, players can take part in the Knockout limited-time mode - an arena battle where players must attempt to hurl each other off a series of high platforms using three unique attack, block, and grab skills. It's a very unique way to play Rocket League, and a fantastic opportunity to practice your car combat skills without having to keep track of where the ball's gone bouncing off to. Treasure Tech Doom mod is basically a Wario Land FPS game Posted: 03 Jul 2022 07:48 AM PDT ![]() Upcoming Doom mod Treasure Tech Land is basically Nintendo's Wario Land series as an FPS game - complete with cartoonish colours, treasure hunting, a butt-stomp, and a ridiculously powerful shove ability. Yes, it's basically Wario versus Hell, and you can play a demo of it now. While there are many fantastic Doom mods out there, the ones that leave the biggest impression are the creations that totally change the classic game in unexpected ways - such as turning Doom into Ninja Gaiden, Silent Hill, or Golden Axe. Treasure Tech Land from modder Ultra 64 is a Doom conversion "inspired by the Wario Land franchise." You can try out the original version of the mod here but the final version is looking smoother and more ridiculous - with weapons so powerful they throw both demons and player backward, like the Noisy Cricket in Men in Black. Treasures can be spent in a new upgrade shop to make your abilities more devastating. RELATED LINKS: Doom runs on Twitter, Play Doom |
This Skyrim mod adds its own modder to the game Posted: 03 Jul 2022 07:33 AM PDT ![]() There are an outrageously large number of Skyrim mods nowadays, adding everything from 16K dragons to the ability to virtually experience rejection to Bethesda's beloved open-world game. Now, modder DecodinatorX is offering you - yes, you right there - the once in a lifetime opportunity to download and install them into your copy of the RPG game. That's right, thanks to new mod 'A Skyrim follower but he is me' you can now employ DecodinatorX as a voiced follower in your own game. But exactly who is DecodinatorX, I hear you ask? A very fair question, indeed. Just someone on a quest to put themselves "into games that don't need me to be in them," according to their own words. DecodinatorX says that the project is merely a test to see if they can learn how to create themselves in various games. You can find them in the Winking Skeever in Solitude, and while their in-game model might leave a little something to be desired, it's tough to argue that they achieved what they set out to do. You can explore the Starfield map (in a basic way) Posted: 03 Jul 2022 05:08 AM PDT ![]() Do you want to explore the Starfield map but don't want to wait until the 2023 release date to have to do it? Are you more of a fan of star maps and mathematical distance calculations than all that tedious mucking about in hyperspace? Good news then, this fan-made Starfield system navigator is for you. We're still finding out about Starfield space travel between its thousand-odd worlds and MechWarrior-esque ship combat, but with the game's delay to 2023 we might have a while to wait for proper information on how moving between systems will work. Based on the information we have on the space game's revealed systems comparative to their real-world counterparts, user i_need_a_fast_horse has posted an early iteration of their Starfield navigation tool on Reddit. It shows a star map along with around 75 systems - which you can play around with to work out distances between stars, best warp-jump vectors, closest neighbours, connections based on light-years, and more. You can even activate a little 3D fly-by "trailer" - which really needs some relaxing space music behind it. RELATED LINKS: Starfield release date, Starfield ship design, Starfield Game Pass |
Summer Games Done Quick 2022 raises $3 million for charity Posted: 03 Jul 2022 04:54 AM PDT ![]() After a wonderful week of superb speedruns, Summer Games Done Quick 2022 has concluded with a total of over $3.01 million USD raised for international charity Doctors Without Borders. SGDQ 2022, which ran from June 26 - July 3, saw over 120 speedruns ranging from quick hits to longer runs. Some runners showcase incredible technical skill, some exploit weird mechanics and bugs with clever tricks, while others feature multiple runners playing to the crowd and simply embracing the joys of speedrunning. There's far too many outstanding runs to name them all, but we can certainly pick out a few highlights. Kicking off the show in style was a Shadow of the Colossus run from Rubiehart, who took on the game's towering beasts in a randomly selected order and showcased some incredible techniques to fling themselves up onto the more gargantuan giants. If you're into the more technical side of speedrunning, Helix13_ showed off Super Monkey Ball-like game Rolled Out in a snappy 20-minute run packed with cool moves. Groshiken displayed some fantastic technique to blast through platformer Celeste, while DemonChildElise showed off her skills in a mesmerising run of lesser-known time-rewinding 2D action game Cogen: Sword of Rewind. Meanwhile, Kekumanshoyu showcased the potential of 2021's Metroid Dread, and veteran runner Covert_Muffin demonstrated why Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 is still one of the most watchable speedruns for its blend of glitches and high-skill trickery. Call of Duty 2024 leak reveals possible new multiplayer maps Posted: 03 Jul 2022 03:50 AM PDT ![]() While the new Call of Duty game is Modern Warfare 2 in October, it's looking likely that there won't be a mainline Call of Duty 2023 game, which would make Call of Duty 2024 the next proper entry in the FPS game series - and now, we may have the first details on two multiplayer maps for what could be the next Black Ops game. Apparently, an alpha test of the long-in-development Call of Duty: Warzone mobile version happened in May in certain regions, and players datamining the game's files have uncovered images and references to not only Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer maps - but also to Treyarch's Call of Duty 2024, too. Leaker @RealiityUK (via Charlie Intel) posted the images, which for Call of Duty 2024 show what seems to be loading screens for two maps called 'Stealth' and 'Pillage.' Stealth seems to be a US military base with a stealth fighter, and Pillage shows an interior of an old-fashioned building that looks European. Stardew Valley mod overhauls critters and animals Posted: 02 Jul 2022 10:54 AM PDT ![]() If you've played one game for a long time, you'll know that things can become a bit over-familiar, which is why it's nice to see projects like the Aquarium and Terrarium Project Stardew Valley mod, which overhauls all the various critters and other incidental animals dotted around the farming game's landscape. The Aquarium/Terrarium Project isn't just one mod, in fact - it's a collection of several mods created by Stardew Valley fan StarAmy, aimed at overhauling all the various creatures and critters that make up the life game's ecosystem. So far, they have created five separate mods that include reskins for a whole variety of animals. In addition, they have also been working on a makeover for Stardew Valley's fish tanks that polishes their design up slightly, as well as including the option to completely transform them from aquariums into terrariums. This gets rid of the water effect and allows you to store the likes of rodents, birds, insects, and reptiles into the exhibits. Another mod in the collection enables a selection of flowers and other small items to be placed into the tanks for added decoration. There’s a Sonic Frontiers fishing game with Big the Cat Posted: 02 Jul 2022 09:57 AM PDT ![]() We still don't know the Sonic Frontiers release date but we now know two far more important facts about the first Sonic the Hedgehog open-world game - there's a Sonic Frontiers fishing minigame, and Big the Cat is leading it. It's a game of the year contender now. If there's one thing fans of the Sonic platform game series constantly complain about, it's that there hasn't been a fishing minigame in the games since 1998's Sonic Adventure. Poor fisherman Big the Cat hasn't really been in the series either since 2003's Sonic Heroes, which featured an upsetting lack of fishing. Well, that's apparently set to change, as the latest issue of Game Informer confirms that not only does Big the Cat and his frog pal Froggy feature in Sonic Frontiers, but there's a fishing minigame too.
