This blog is about WOMEN and how amazing we are.
Last week, I became a grandmother for the first time. When I had my kids, over 30 years ago, I didn't fully comprehend the astonishing miracle of pregnancy and childbirth. Since I was watching this unfold in my own daughter, Jess, I was amazed at how quickly her body changed, how many sacrifices she had to make, how she had to deal with all of the muscular imbalances at the end of her pregnancy, and how she pushed a 9 lb, 4 oz baby out of her body. WARRIOR! STRONG! INCREDIBLE! Women who have a c-sections are equally remarkable—they have major abdominal surgery and then have to go home with a newborn, heal, and take care of a baby.
This got me thinking about women in general. Women who have biological babies, women who have babies in other ways, women who choose not to have babies at all, we are all strong, capable, tough, smart, tenacious, and resilient. We are all warriors! And yet in 2022, we still live in a "man's world". How is this even a thing?
Please take stock of the women in your life and celebrate each other. We are all wondrous in our own way, no matter what path we are taking. We are ROCKSTARS!
A few years ago, Jess said to me, "Mom, it's exhausting being the superior gender." So well said, Jess!
Finally, I want to say, that I will NOT be one of those obnoxious grandmothers who go on and on about their grandchildren. JUST KIDDING! I am going to say that Baby Jane is the most magnificent creature on this planet. I am in a state of unimaginable love.
