Local family-friendly pub serving home-made, decent pub grub. Their menu consists of classic pub main courses, Stone-baked pizzas, burgers & desserts (including a Kid's Menu) as well as Sunday Dinners and weekly specialsat really reasonable prices.
Recently we decided to walk down to one of our local pubs The Barrel in Chapeltown as it was National Cheeseburger Day (September 18th) and that's exactly what we wanted! I have to say, they were surprisingly impressive. Proper thick steak burgers in big pretzel brioche rolls, served with various toppings, crispy fries and homemade slaw.
I went for the Classic Cheese & Bacon burger (not sure why everything has to have bacon on it now #sorrynotsorry #unpopularopinion) but I asked for the bacon well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it all, I ate every last bit. Ben went with the "Ooow you cheeky cow" burger that was topped with chilli and spicy cheese - this was gorgeous too, good value for money and we were impressed.
Burgers are priced from £9-£11.45 (there's a vegetarian option too), and all served with fries, homemade slaw and mixed leaf salad making them very well priced. We would definitely come back here to try out more of their menu. Pop in for some good grub at The Barrel if you're around Chap. For more information on The Barrel, check out their Facebook page here.
