El Rancho has been on my list to check out for some time and I finally made it in! I was waiting for the complete tranformation from taco shop counter to sit down, full service restaurant. Their new dining area is beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable. The chips & salsa situation is interesting. Small bowl of very tasty chips and about 4 or 5 squeeze bottles of varying salsas and hot sauce, plus a saucer. It was fun sampling all of the delicious sauces. Some were very hot! My favorite was the avocado hot sauce.
I ordered the #15 combination - Chile Relleno and Enchilada. As always, I requested "no beans, all rice". Much to my dismay, it came out with beans! Also, I requested a beef enchilada and it came out chicken. Two strikes in one visit, I was concerned. Then I tasted that chile relleno and serenity suddenly bathed over me. It was excellent! Seemed to have been made with the legit queso panela, not that jack cheese that spooges out. I highly recommend their rellenos. Overall a nice visit. The service is somehwat deliberate and methodical, but we were not in any rush. Will be back.
