We stayed a night at Hever Castle, about 48 km southeast of London, in Kent. It's almost the middle of nowhere which was a nice break from the hustle & bustle we had been experiencing. The castle was built in 1383 and was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn in the early 1500's. The grounds of the castle were simply stunning! We could have stayed here for days. The only place to have dinner around here is the King Henry VIII pub down the street, which was really nice. I had a shortcrust pastry meat pie that was outstanding. Of course another serving of sticky toffee pudding was to be had! This one adorned with a physalis berry. Our server was from Ireland and of course was very friendly. She explained how the locals call it a "syphilis berry".
