Food I enjoyed in Riga, Latvia

Jen's Food Blog

February 21

On my travels I tend to wander around and stumble across places rather than plan every mean at the top rated venues. I also try and sample some traditional food of the country/city I am in where possible. In Riga it seems everywhere I went in had a great food offering whether it was a bar, restaurant or cafe, so I don't think anyone would struggle for great food in this city!

If you're heading to Riga, just explore at your own pace and try whatever suits, but here's some great food I enjoyed to inspire you, in the order as seen on my Instagram reel here;

⭐️Hot Chocolate at AJ Chocolate House - PURE indulgent quality chocolate, I was in heaven
⭐️Beer Plate at O'Paps - for only €21 weeks got a massive platter of fried garlic rye toast (a popular snack around Riga and bloody strong garlic too!), blue cheese, Brie, cheddar, nachos, roast potatoes, 3 cured meats, pickles, chicken wings, olives and dips.
⭐️Hot Choc & Pesto Focaccia at Golden Coffee
⭐️Solyanka Soup at Runcis - a Russian Soviet soup filled with meat, potato, pickles and more and comes with sour cream and bread
⭐️Cheeseburger at Colonel Brew Pub - reyt cheesy and meaty
⭐️Chicken & Spinach Pie at the Central Market
⭐️Chicken "Cigars" at Lucky bar - like long spring rolls
⭐️Last but not least we had a mountain of all kinds of food at self service canteen chain @lidolv which is not to be missed!

If you've also visited any of these places what did you have/think? Can you recommend anywhere else too from experience?

There was lots to see in this City. We stayed in the old town and this seemed a great place to be able to walk to everywhere we wanted to visit, as well as being fairly easy to get the public bus straight to the aiport and back. One of the cheapest places we have been (as always we judge this by the beer prices haha). A great city with history, architecture, great nightlife and food and lots to see 🙂

Check out more of the foods I've enjoyed on my travels here.

Happy munching!
