I never had a Scotch egg when I was living in Scotland and, in fact, I'm not even sure if it's Scottish. But the sound of it intrigued me - I mean, a soft-boiled egg wrapped in deep-fried sausage, that sounds heavenly already. Who'd have thought that I'd have a first try in Shanghai of all places? I really enjoyed it, actually, and my only complaint would be having only one serving to share (among other dishes) between three people - too little!
