If you like BIIIIG tasty burgers, then Big Buns in Leeds should be on your list to visit. Based in Leeds City Centre as part of a small Beer Hall & Food Market; Northern Market, this casual comfort food diner will definitely serve you some filling treats. Go ahead and order from their counter, grab a beer (or wine in my case), choose a seat and wait for your buzzer to go off. [Ad|Invite]
My friend and I were kindly invited along to try the food at Big Buns on a Thursday evening, and it was quite busy at Northern Market, but we did manage to find a table.
We tried out;
- The Abs Special Chicken Burger (secret menu) *
- Big Daddie Beef (£9.45) Frenchie (+£1.95 - added crispy shallots & caramelised onions) with extra Patty (+£2.95) *All burgers come in a brioche bun with lettuce, diced onions, pickles, burger sauce & American cheese.
- large Buffalo Chicken Fries with extra cheese sauce (£13.95)
- Huge Onion Rings with a dipping gravy (£5.50)
The Burgers were by far the star of the show here and I expected no less. Tasty, juicy, with all the right toppings and sauces that I personally enjoy. The fries were ok, although I have had better fried chicken loaded fries elsewhere recently, but I've heard GOOD things about the Donner fries so given the choice maybe they may have been more impressive to try. I had high hopes for the onion rings as I always do.. they sure are huge, but I felt they weren't as tasty as everything else. If I visit again I'd for sure get the burgers and try some other loaded fries and it'll be interesting to see some other Specials and burger variations. There are also lots of VEGAN options too.
Opening Times; Daily 12-10pm (8pm Sundays). Big Buns also have a pop-up at Salt in Oakwood, Leeds. To find out more about them, check out their Instagram page here.
