Enjoying the Moment with Saritza Martinez Posted: 02 Aug 2021 09:06 AM PDT Saritza MartinezSaritza Martinez feels as if her path to becoming an architect was an unusual one. As a younger person, she didn't even know what architecture was. She was a good student who got good grades and did well on her college exams, but she didn't know what it was she wanted to study, and it was worrying her. A friend of Saritza's suggested architecture as a course of study because it was a creative career that involves math and construction. Saritza loved math, and she was interested in construction because her grandfather, a builder, was a big influence on her life. Saritza attended undergraduate architecture school in Puerto Rico, and started her master's degree there too, but then transferred to Syracuse to finish obtaining the graduate degree. In today's episode, one of the subjects she discusses was the language barrier she experienced at the time and how she got through it. Saritza also discusses her experience with the architecture exam, the impact gratitude has had on her life, and her artwork. Listen to today's podcast to learn more about Saritza's life and her thoughts on becoming an architect, staying positive during exams, and her proposal for the Young Architect Conference.
