Wok to Walk is a global franchise compact counter-serve eatery, with made-to-order stir-fries, including vegan & vegetarian options. With more than 100 restaurants all over the world , Wok to Walk has been growing non-stop for 19 consecutive years. 92% of their franchisees operate more than one unit and many of them are multi-brand corporations. I was kindly invited to try some of the new menu at the Leeds location. The stir-fries are cooked for all to see in an open kitchen, right in front of the windows!
Wok to Walk strive to succeed where SUSTAINABILITY & Corporate Social Responsibility are concerned. To keep food wastage low, they only prepare what they know they will sell on every particular day. They have also been modifying their operations to get rid of plastic. Their takeout packaging, including the box, bag, sauce sachets and chopstick holders are paper-based. They're also replacing cups, straws and other usually plastic-made items with more sustainable options; working towards 0%! Wok to Walk are looking to roll out more and more of their restaurants serving food on crockery for people dining in, reducing the waste of single-use packaging. A lot of eggs are used at Walk to Walk franchises, and these are all free-range where possible, with the business having a deadline to ensure that this is a common practice across the whole company.
With all of these amazing things that this brand are promising in mind, I personally had a great visit to their Leeds branch and really enjoyed the food. This is a fast-food chain, HOWEVER food is made to order, using fresh ingredients that you can make your own. A great, fresh new concept of take-out and hopefully something other fast-food restaurants can look up to and follow in the footsteps of.
As well as making to order, Wok to Walk also have a Small Plates and Asian Classics Menu. We enjoyed;
- Homemade vegetable Spring Rolls - a decent portion for said "small" plate and the pastry is very crispy, just how they should be.
- Chicken Wings with Teriyaki Sauce - covered in lots of sticky, sweet sauce and again a decent sized portion
- Chicken Pad Thai - cooked so quickly and fresh, this was a real delicious Pad Thai
- Beef Yakisobi - to die for noodles with lots of crunchy vegetables, a really comforting meal
The Leeds branch has plenty of seating to be able to sit in and enjoy, or you can order their food via Just Eat, UberEats, Deliveroo and their website. The staff here were really informative and attentive and made sure our food came out looking fabulous!
My go to quick, comfort food is always noodles and now I've experienced this place, I'll be returning regularly!! We just need a branch in Sheffield now ππΌππΌππΌ
