Warsaw, Poland

We went on our first visit to Warsaw in May this year and it included lots of sightseeing including football stadiums, Jew & War Memorials, lovely parks, exploring old town and more. I would absolutely recommend this capital city to travel to, it has everything from lots of history, to a relaxing vibe in the parks dotted around the outskirts, to a modern, buzzing area of shops, bars & restaurants and prices are still fairly cheap there too.

I had never visited Warsaw as a tourist before as my Polish family live around 3 hours distance away, but I loved it. Some things reminded me of past family life, and yet we were surprised by how up-and-coming and modern the city is also.

We ate lots of traditional food including pierogi, bigos, goulash and more with a few visits to @zapiecek_polskie_pierogarnie a chain of restaurants serving traditional style Polish food. We also made a few pitstops at the well-recognised Pijana Wisnia (Striking bar that just serves cherry liqueur that originated in Ukraine in 2015 and now has various locations around Europe) as it was only a few doors down from our hotel (Jess Hotel & Spa). As always I didn't indulge enough in the ice cream and pączek (doughnuts) for my liking (my own fault) but I tell you what they LOVE ice cream over there, you wouldn't walk 50m without a stall or shop selling the stuff.

There's a lot to do in Warsaw and you're definitely not limited to choice for places to drink & eat, only issue we had at the time was finding bars that played English football matches (haha).

🤍❤️Having Polish roots means I feel right at home visiting this country and I will always love to see more of it. This visit was extra special as my Dad was on holiday there too at the same time so we spent lots if time together.

Average price; Beer = £3.40 - BARGAIN, Main meal = £7, Average spend per day between 2 people = £145
